New CMT Specials: McGraw, Larry The Cable Guy

CMT is debuting specials this month from Tim McGraw and Larry The Cable Guy.

Invitation Only: Tim McGraw premieres Fri., Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. CT on CMT. Taped earlier this year in Nashville, the show features McGraw performing before a small studio audience, and taking questions from fans. Produced by High-Five Entertainment, the one-hour special includes McGraw’s hits such as “Something Like That,” “My Best Friend,” and “Cowboy In Me,” as well as new songs from his latest release Southern Voice.

Larry The Cable Guy’s Hula-Palooza Christmas Luau holiday special premieres Fri., Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. CT on CMT. The 90-minute variety show features musical performers Billy Currington and the Zac Brown Band. Other guests include Kenan Thompson (Saturday Night Live), Caroline Rhea, George Lindsey (The Andy Griffith Show), comedians Reno Collier and Jon Reep, Peter Oldring, Sara Erikson, the MuzikMafia’s Two Foot Fred, and returning favorites Tony Orlando and Angela Little MacKenzie (Reno 911). The DVD of the Hula-Palooza will be available from Jack Records/Warner Bros. Records beginning Tues., Nov. 24. It was produced by Parallel Entertainment and Taillight TV.

McGraw, More Added To CMA Awards

Ttim_mcgraw_13569im McGraw will perform at the CMA Awards for the first time since 2005 when the event lands at the Sommet Center on Wed., Nov. 11.

The star-packed lineup continues to grow dramatically with the addition of McGraw, a special Vince Gill/Daughtry duet, and Jason Aldean, Billy Currington, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, and Zac Brown Band.

“The 43rd Annual CMA Awards,” hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, airs live Nov. 11 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network. Previously announced performers include Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Reba McEntire, Paisley, Darius Rucker, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Underwood, and Keith Urban.

McGraw last performed on the CMA Awards stage in 2005, when he joined wife Faith Hill on “Like We Never Loved At All.” His last solo performance on the CMA Awards was in 2004, when he opened the show with “How Bad Do You Want It?”

Swift To Host “SNL”

image003Taylor Swift will be hosting NBC’s Saturday Night Live on Nov. 7. This is her first time to host the show, though she performed on SNL in January. “I’ve been thinking about skit ideas for a long time,” Swift told the Associated Press. “There are definitely some hilarious things that have happened to me over the past couple of months that I think will be pretty substantial skits.”

Swift is also scheduled to appear on Dancing With The Stars Oct. 27, and The Ellen Degeneres Show Oct. 29. Yesterday (10/14) she performed on Oprah.

Nashville musicians are making the media rounds. See where your favorite artists are set to turn up.

Kenny Chesney will perform for the full hour of PBS’s Austin City Limits on Oct. 17. Joining him will be good friend and fellow CMA Vocal Event nominee Mac McAnally (for “Down The Road”). The concert will be taped at University of Texas, and include plenty of hits as well as the never-before-performed “Somewhere In The Sun.”

Dierks Bentley will take a detour from Brad Paisley’s American Saturday Night tour this week to perform his hot new single “I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes” tonight (10/5) on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson the following day (airing Oct. 12). Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers will be on The Late Show with David Letterman tonight (10/5) on CBS, and on The View tomorrow (10/6) on ABC. The Rangers’ new Rebel Records release, Deep in the Shade, will be in stores tomorrow.

Trace Adkins will make several media appearances while he’s on the East Coast next week. Today, (10/5) he’ll visit political commentator Glenn Beck on his daily radio show, and guest on his television show later this evening. On Tues., Oct. 6, Adkins will appear on Fox & Friends, on the FOX News Channel and perform an acoustic version of his latest hit single, “All I Ask For Anymore.”

Derek Sholl appeared on FOX’s Fox and Friends on Friday, Oct. 2 and is set for the syndicated morning TV show Daytime on Wednesday, Oct. 7. New artist Sholl is working to bring attention to combat veterans who are struggling to readjust to life at home. His new music video for “When They Come Back” debuted yesterday on GAC.

CMA Awards Schedule Superstar Performances

carrie-and-bradThe superstar line-up of CMA Awards performers includes co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. This first round of artists, given exclusively to People.com by the CMA, also lists all of the Entertainer of the Year nominees: George Strait, Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, and Paisley (this year’s most-nominated artist with seven nods).

The 43rd Annual CMA Awards show, airs live from Nashville’s Sommet Center on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Also playing that night are Brooks & Dunn, Reba McEntire, Sugarland and first-time CMA nominee Darius Rucker.

The final round of CMA Awards Ballots will be emailed to voting members on Friday, Oct. 16. The votes are due Friday, Nov. 3.

Official CMA Awards merchandise is now available on CMAawards.com. This year’s line of merchandise features six apparel items, two hats, a coffee mug, and a wine tote.

Diva Martina Headed For Superstar TV Show

Mmartinaartina McBride is among the powerhouse vocalists set for the upcoming VH1 Divas. This year’s special will air tomorrow (9/17) at 8 PM/CT and as always, the star power is blinding. McBride will share the stage with American Idol winner Jordin Sparks in a first-ever collaboration presented at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

VH1 Divas reinvents itself this year with a crop of new, young superstars, including previously announced Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson and Leona Lewis. The high profile television music special brings together music’s most powerful women and greatest performers live on one stage.

The very first VH1 Divas special took place just over ten years ago. Past divas have included Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan, Carole King, and Tina Turner.

Country diva McBride has earned more than 18 million in album sales, and a record-tying four CMA Female Vocalist of the Year trophies. The Kansas native’s fiery, passionate vocals have created such signature hits as “Independence Day,” “Wild Angels,” “This One’s for the Girls,” “Love’s the Only House,” and “Anyway.” Martina’s current single is the love song, “I Just Call You Mine,” from her chart-topping album Shine.

Reba Making The Media Rounds In L.A.

Last week Universal Music Group Distribution surprised Reba and her label The Valory Music Co. with two awards. One recognizes Reba’s "Keep On Loving You" as No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, and the other recognizes the superstar as UMGD's top revenue-generating artist for the week of release. Reba McEntire’s new album, Keep On Loving You, holds steady at the top of the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart for the second week in a row. Reba’s first solo studio album in six years—and her first on new label The Valory Music Co.—remains in the Top 10 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, landing at No. 6.

Reba’s new single, “Consider Me Gone,” is rising as she travels to Los Angeles this week for some big media appearances. She is set to perform on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien tomorrow (9/9), and she will join Craig Ferguson for an interview and performance on The Late Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Reba will also drop by the syndicated Bonnie Hunt Show on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and is the subject of a new A&E Biography premiering Thurs., Sept. 10 on the Biography Channel.

Rascal Flatts To Open Oprah’s New Season

rascalflattsRascal Flatts will make its second appearance on Oprah this Thursday, September 10. The band will head to Chicago today (9/8) to be part of the hit daytime show’s 24th season kick-off celebration. Rascal Flatts will join the Black Eyed Peas, James Taylor and Jennifer Hudson to perform live for the crowds on Michigan Avenue when the show shuts down the street for the taping which will air Thursday.

The Rascal Flatts American Living Unstoppable Tour continues this weekend with shows in Virginia Beach, Virginia; Camden, New Jersey; and Boston, Massachusetts.

B&D Plan “Today” Show Performance

brooksdoneBrooks & Dunn will celebrate the release of their 30-song, double-disc #1s … and then some with a performance on NBC’s Today on album street date, Tues., Sept. 8. They will be singing their ACM and CMA Song of the Year winner, “Believe,” joined in the special performance by the renowned Boys Choir of Harlem.

The longtime Arista duo may have announced plans to call it a day after 20 years together, but the party is far from over, with a 2010 tour ahead, a hot single on the radio and the greatest hits package.

The most comprehensive collection to date for Brooks & Dunn fans, #1s … and then some spans 30 songs in all, and a whopping 23 No. 1 singles, from such early classics as “Neon Moon” and “That Ain’t No Way to Go” to “Only in America,” “Red Dirt Road,” “Play Something Country,” and much more. In addition to the two new hits, “Indian Summer” and “Honky Tonk Stomp,” the album also includes “Cowgirls Don’t Cry,” their recent hit featuring Reba McEntire which was previously available only as a digital single.

Tube Time

Darius Rucker performed to a packed Grand Ole Opry House on Monday, Aug 24th as a part of the Samsung AT&T Summer Krush concert series with a portion of the performance and excitement airing last night (8/27) on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! During the show at the Opry House, fans were witness to over an hour of songs from Rucker’s debut country album on Capitol Records Nashville, Learn To Live, as well as a few of his Hootie & The Blowfish hits.

The video for Alan Jackson’s “I Still Like Bologna” is a humorous look back on changing times and the country superstar’s continuing affection for his favorite sandwich. It debuted this week on CMT and GAC. Jet Jurgensmeyer portrays Jackson as a kid, during simpler times. CMT invites country music stars to take on 5th graders for a good cause when the popular series Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? launches with a country music-themed week, beginning Monday, Sept. 21 at 8:00 – 8:30 p.m., ET/PT. Hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, artists Big Kenny, Bucky Covington, Jack Ingram, Heidi Newfield and Emily West tackle subjects ranging from geography to social studies in each half-hour episode to benefit their charity of choice.
