Bobby Bones’ ‘Comedically Inspirational’ Special To Air On CMT

Bobby Bones will debut his new special Comedically Inspirational on CMT tomorrow (Feb. 4) at 8 p.m. CT.

This unique show, blending comedy, music and inspiration, toured sold-out theaters nationwide. Bones shared stories ranging from his small hometown of Mountain Pine, Arkansas (pop. 577) to the glitz of Hollywood and everywhere in between. Comedically Inspirational features advice from Dolly Parton, a surprise performance by Jake Owen, a Raging Idiots concert and vibrant conversations with audience members from all different backgrounds.

An encore airing of the special will take place Feb. 8 at 11 a.m. CT, following CMT’s Hot 20.

Bones recently announced his annual “Million Dollar Show,” with the Raging Idiots benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will take place on March 4 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.

Radio Personality Elaina Smith Joins Backstage Country As Co-Host

Country radio personality Elaina Smith has been named the new Co-Host of the Key Networks’ show Backstage Country.

Based in Nashville, Smith will host the program, which is now heard on over 80 U.S. radio stations and in 27 of the top 50 markets, alongside an all-star lineup of today’s hottest country artists as weekly hosts. She takes the Backstage Country hosting reins with country star Riley Green on Feb. 17.

“Backstage Country’s vision is one that I have admired for some time now,” says Smith. “Getting to be a part of it in 2025 is so incredibly exciting. My love of radio, country music, country listeners, and interviewing are just a few reasons I knew this was the perfect partnership! It’s also a fun full circle moment being able to work with two of my favorite guys in the industry again, John Shomby and Dennis Green. Grateful to everyone at Backstage Country and Beasley for trusting me with the future of this show. Can’t wait to bring listeners across the country even closer to Nashville and their favorite artists!

As host of the Westwood One nationally syndicated country program, Nights With Elaina, Smith was on air in markets across the U.S. and was honored for her work with four Gracie Awards and an ACM Award as well as a CMA Award nomination. She got her start in entertainment at Entertainment Tonight and The Insider in Los Angeles, and found her true passion in radio by joining a morning show in San Diego. Smith later moved across the country to host a morning show in Florida and then on to Nashville and into country music. Her voice is now heard on both coasts, as well as by an audience internationally on Absolute Radio in the U.K.

In addition to Backstage Country, Smith will continue with other radio projects, voiceover, TV hosting appearances and more. She is also widely known as the voice of the ACM Awards, People’s Choice Country Awards, ACM Honors and the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation’s Gracie Awards, and works closely with the Country Radio Seminar moderating panels and hosting.

Beyoncé To Bring ‘Cowboy Carter’ On The Road This Year

Beyoncé will hit the road this spring and summer for her “Cowboy Carter Tour,” beginning April 28.

The 22 date trek will kickoff with four dates at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, and will include stops in Chicago, London, the singer’s hometown of Houston and more, before ending with a two night run at Atlanta’s Mercedes Benz Stadium July 10-11. The tour will be produced and directed by Parkwood Entertainment and promoted by Live Nation.

The tour is named after Beyoncé’s eight studio album, Cowboy Carter. The project has left a mark on the music scene, blending elements of country, rock and roll, folk, R&B, pop, psychedelic soul and bluegrass. The album incorporates radio segments from the fictional “KNTRY Radio Texas,” with country icons like Dolly Parton, Linda Martell and Willie Nelson taking on roles as DJs and collaborators across multiple tracks. Upon release, it soared to No. 1 on various charts, including the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums chart, making Beyoncé the first black woman to achieve this milestone. At the Grammy Awards last night (Feb. 2), Cowboy Carter took home three Grammy wins for Album of the Year, Best Country Album and Best Country Duo/Group Performance (“II Most Wanted”), while earning a total of 11 nominations this year. With 99 nominations and 35 wins, Beyoncé is now the most-nominated and most-awarded artist in Grammy history.

The “Cowboy Carter Tour” marks the first time the award-winning album is brought to life in a full concert setting, following the live performance of “BEYONCÉ BOWL” at Netflix’s inaugural NFL 2024 Christmas Gameday at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The halftime show drew over 27 million viewers in the U.S. alone.

The BeyHive presale will begin on Feb. 11 at 12 p.m. local time, followed by the artist presale on Feb. 13 at 12 p.m. local time. Citi cardholders and Verizon customers will also receive presale opportunities on Feb. 12 at 12 p.m. local time for the U.S. dates. For the U.K. and France, there will be a Mastercard presale on Feb. 12 at 12 p.m. local time. General on sale will take place on Feb. 14 at 12 p.m. local time here.

Kelsea Ballerini Ascends To New Heights At Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena

Kelsea Ballerini reached a defining moment in her career on Friday night (Jan. 31), delivering a sold-out, milestone performance at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

Label-mate MaRynn Taylor set the tone for the evening, captivating the crowd with originals like “Make You Mine,” “Season 2 of Friends” and “Get To Know Me.” She effortlessly led a sing-along to “Fast Car” and “Since U Been Gone” before closing with the heartfelt “Same Girl Same.”

Next, Sasha Alex Sloan took the stage with an air of understated cool, commanding attention with her signature melancholic anthems, including “Cowboys Cry,” “Thoughts” and “Smiling When I Die.” She shared her poignant duet with fellow Nashvillian Sam Hunt, “When Was It Over,” offered a reverent take on Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One” and wrapped up her set with fan favorites “Older” and “Dancing With Your Ghost.”

When Ballerini finally emerged, she wasted no time, launching into the title track of her 2024 album Patterns. As she transitioned into her latest hit, “Baggage,” the energy inside Bridgestone Arena soared, with the crowd’s deafening cheers signaling that Ballerini had entered a new echelon of stardom.

She beamed as she took in the moment, but her focus never wavered.

“I cannot believe we’re at a sold-out night at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee,” Ballerini told the roaring crowd. “I’ve been in this room a million times. This is the arena where I see my favorite artists!”

She took the audience on a journey through her career, revisiting early hits like “Love Me Like You Mean It,” reveling in romance with “Heartfirst” and reflecting on personal growth with “This Time Last Year.” The arena erupted for the playful “If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too)” and “Hole In The Bottle,” sending rhinestone-clad fans twirling with their best friends.

One of the evening’s most breathtaking moments came with “First Rodeo.” A carousel bathed in sunset hues illuminated the LED screens, setting the stage for an intimate, dreamlike performance.

The energy surged once again as Ballerini leaned into her bolder side, delivering electric performances of Rolling Up The Welcome Mat’s “Blindsided,” her fiery No. 1 hit “Miss Me More” and Patterns’ “We Broke Up.”

“Well, aren’t we a sassy crowd?” Ballerini teased with a grin.

She then showcased her pop sensibilities with “Mountain With a View,” “Interlude” and “Wait!” before shifting to a more introspective moment. After moving the crowd with the tender “Cowboys Cry Too,” she welcomed surprise guest Keith Urban to the stage for a stunning duet of “Stupid Boy.”

“This is the most badass show, Kelsea!” Urban praised before exiting to thunderous applause.

Ballerini brought the night full circle with “Peter Pan,” kept the crowd on their feet with “Muscle Memory” and celebrated female friendship with a mashup of “I Would, Would You” and the timeless “Lean On Me.”

After “How Do I Do This,” she left the stage—only to be drawn back for an encore. She closed the unforgettable night with her career-defining hit “Penthouse,” bidding her hometown audience farewell as she embarked on the next chapter of her tour.

Teri Nelson Carpenter has launched a new Nashville-based company, 507 Publishing, a division of Reel Muzik Werks.

CEO Nelson Carpenter launched parent company Reel Muzik Werks in 2009 in Los Angeles as a film/TV music company with a specialty in international rights management. The new 507 Publishing A&R team will include A&R Manager Madison Policastri and Producer/A&R Coordinator Cooper Carr.

Policastri launched her career at Demolition Music Publishing, later moving to Red Street Records, and joined the team in May 2024 to handle session booking, song plugging, label services and artist/songwriter development.

Carr interned with Reel Muzik Werks before joining the team. He brings experience as a producer, songwriter and audio engineer to his new role at 507, where he assists in session booking, song-plugging and producing music for the catalog.

“507 Publishing will steer Reel Muzik Werks in a direction of artistic growth in many ways,” says Carpenter. “I’m so excited about the future of this new endeavor, where great music will emerge from our new slate of creatives. It’s not every day you get the privilege of working with such incredible talent. I am looking forward to exceptional music and opportunities from our young and innovative team.”

Outlaw Music Festival Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary With Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Billy Strings, More

Willie Nelson‘s annual Outlaw Music Festival Tour is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year, kicking off May 13 with a huge lineup of performers.

The 2025 tour features a revolving lineup of legends and superstars including Willie Nelson & Family, Bob Dylan, Billy Strings, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Sheryl Crow, Turnpike Troubadours, The Avett Brothers, Wilco, The Red Clay Strays, Lake Street Dive, Charles Wesley Godwin, Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers, Trampled By Turtles, The Mavericks, Sierra Hull, Waylon Payne, Madeline Edwards, Lily Meola and more.

This milestone year of the tour is the biggest yet, with 35 stops across 22 states featuring vibrant festival experiences and special tributes to its storied history. This year’s tour will visit Phoenix, Spokane, Cincinnati, Memphis, Saratoga Springs, Charlotte and more with a stop in Franklin, Tennessee at FirstBank Amphitheater on June 25.

Jelly Roll & Friends Honor First Responders At Historic Rose Bowl Concert

Jelly Roll gave a Concert for All First Responders on Saturday night (Feb. 1) at the Rose Bowl Stadium for nearly 16,000 emergency personnel from across California, including more than 1,000 incarcerated firefighters.

A legendary lineup of special guests were invited by Jelly Roll to help honor the heroes during the two hour+ show which included Nate Smith, Lainey Wilson, Shinedown, Marshmello and Public Enemy, creating a 30-song setlist for the free event. To kick off the night, Jelly Roll performed hits including “Liar,” “Son of a Sinner,” his Grammy-nominated hit “I Am Not Okay,” “Need a Favor” and more.

He then invited guests to share the stage for a series of powerful duets and surprise collaborations including “Whiskey On You” with Smith and “Second Chance” with Shinedown. Both Public Enemy and Marshmello took the stage for performances of “Fight the Power” and “Happier” respectively, along with their other hits. The show culminated in a duet performance from Jelly Roll and Wilson performing their hit “Save Me” in addition to three other songs.

“I want you to know that you are here tonight because you are a hero or you are a loved one of a hero,” said Jelly Roll. “And I knew the moment I was watching this go down all the way in Tennessee in my house, I thought if I got a chance to go to California I was gonna play music to everyone who worked their ass off for the last two months trying to keep the rest of this place safe. Thank y’all for having me tonight – this is awesome!”

The star-studded night also included audience members from California Professional Fire Fighters, National Guard, California Conservation Corps, CDCR (incarcerated firefighters and staff), LAPD, LA Sheriff’s Department, Pasadena PD, Sierra Madre PD, Arcadia PD, Angels National Forest, Ventura Training Center and FirstTix members along with their families.

Live Nation partnered with Jelly Roll on the special event to cover costs with the show and, with support from the Rose Bowl Stadium, helped produce the concert to thank the wildfire first responders.

This week’s newsletter includes the heartbreaking loss of Ben Vaughn, President & CEO of Warner Chappell Music Nashville. Vaughn passed away Thursday morning (Jan. 30) at the age of 49, leaving the Nashville music community in shock. Over his decade-long tenure, he made a lasting impact by overseeing all creative and commercial activities at Warner Chappell Nashville, while also being a dedicated advocate for songwriters and their rights.

Dolly Parton announced that her Dolly: An Original Musical will premiere at Belmont University’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville this summer before heading to Broadway in 2026. She also revealed Dolly U, an immersive educational experience tied to the musical’s world premiere.

Morgan Wallen unveiled plans for his highly-anticipated fourth studio album, I’m The Problem, along with a 10-city, 19-date stadium tour that has fans buzzing.

After nearly 40 years with BMI, Alison Smith, Executive Vice President and Chief Distribution & Publisher Relations Officer, will retire at the end of March. Additionally, Audacy’s David Field announced he is stepping down from his role as President/CEO and as a member of the Board of Directors.

Big Machine Label Group has appointed Tim Reynolds as Vice President of Digital Marketing. ShopKeeper Management promoted Crystal Dishmon to Co-Manager of Miranda Lambert, while Laura Spinelli was elevated to Day-to-Day Manager for Lambert.

Several new signings were announced this week. Braedon Barnhill inked a record deal with The Valory Music Co. Country band Clay Street Unit signed with Monument Records in partnership with Sony Music. Hudson Westbrook joined River House Artists in a publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing Nashville. Universal Music Publishing Nashville signed Dalton Davis to an exclusive global publishing agreement, while Ed Williams entered an exclusive publishing agreement with Jody Williams Songs and Warner Chappell Music. Lenny Pey secured a joint global publishing deal with Endurance Music Group and hit songwriter-producer Jordan Schmidt.

This week’s My Music Row Story featured Red Light Management’s Zach Sutton, who guides the careers of award-winning, multi-Platinum artists Jordan Davis and Riley Green, along with rising stars Preston Cooper, Georgia Webster, Scott Wolverton and Bizzy.
