Dailey & Vincent Prepare To ‘Sing Some Country’ On Upcoming Project

Dailey & Vincent are realizing a longtime goal with the release of their upcoming country album, Let’s Sing Some Country! on Sept. 16 through their new partnership with BMG.

Since their first Grammy nomination for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group for their rendition of “Elizabeth,” a country project has been on the bluegrass duo’s radar. Produced by Paul Worley, the album includes contributions from Jimmy Fortune, Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, Rhonda Vincent and more.

“Recording this project of material for BMG has been one of the biggest highlights of our career,” the duo’s Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent share. “Working with legendary producer Paul Worley, picking great songs, and putting the best musicians in a room to help us create the art of music has been an education and an unforgettable experience. This collection of music is what we’ve dreamed of recording for a long time. We hope you will enjoy our version of country music. So join us, crank it up and ‘Let’s Sing Some Country!’”

Opening with “I’ll Leave My Heart In Tennessee,” written by Karen Staley which has been commemorated as the latest Tennessee state song and lead song from the project, the 11-track album ebbs and flows through the heartbreak ballad “Colder Than Winter,” the swampy “Those Memories of You,” upbeat “Feels Like That Again,” and more.

Prior to the release, the Grand Ole Opry members will preview some of the new project at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on July 14.

Chart Action: Luke Bryan Turns His ‘Country On’ At Radio

Luke Bryan premiered his brand-new single at country radio this week, “Country On,” earning a total of 184 new station adds across the Billboard, Mediabase, and MusicRow CountryBreakout charts. The track’s release follows Bryan’s stellar track record at country radio with 29 career No. 1 singles and 17.2 billion worldwide streams.

The song was written by Mark Nesler, David Frasier, Mitch Oglesby, and Styles Haury; produced by Jeff Stevens; co-produced by Jody Stevens; and features Sarah Buxton on background vocals.

“I love that the song uplifts the hardworking American people out there, and it brings a lot of unity,” Bryan shares. “It just has feel-good vibes all the way around it and anytime you can reference country music fans in a song, and you can really make it feel natural, it’s great. And this song does just that.”

Bryan will continue his “Raised Up Right Tour” with shows in Virginia Beach, Virginia; Raleigh, North Carolina; and Atlanta, Georgia; and more before wrapping in late October with Riley Green and Mitchell Tenpenny.

Iconic Mastering Engineer Glenn Meadows Passes

Music Row’s most renowned and respected mastering engineer passed away on Thursday (July 7).

Glenn Meadows died in Nashville at age 68, following a brief illness.

During his career, Meadows worked on thousands of hit records — from Randy Travis to Taylor Swift, from Steely Dan to Merle Haggard. He earned two Grammy Awards.

A Tennessee native, Meadows was an industrial engineering graduate of Georgia Tech who started his career at The Sound Pit in Atlanta.

Based in Music City since 1975, he ran Masterfonics beginning in 1989. In 2011, he joined Mayfield Mastering.

Over a 40+ year career, Meadows mastered the albums of Jimmy Buffett, Shania Twain, Vince Gill, Patty Loveless, Dan Fogelberg, England Dan & John Ford Coley, LeAnn Rimes, Reba McEntire and hundreds of others.

During the vinyl era, he was a lacquer cutting engineer who signed his work with Glenn, Glen, GAM or GM etched in the runout area of the disc.

In 2019, the Nashville chapter of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) honored Glenn Meadows with the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in Mastering Engineering. The honor took place at an awards ceremony held at the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum.

Funeral arrangement have not been announced.

‘Country Goes Reggae’ On New Positive Vibrations Album

A group of renowned Jamaican musicians and engineers, dubbed Positive Vibrations, are injecting some Jamaican soul into country favorites on their new album, Country Goes Reggae, due out on July 22.

Prior to the album’s full release, “Smile (feat. Uncle Kracker)” will available for fans to enjoy early on July 15. Additionally, “Eyes On You (feat. Chase Rice)” is available now.

The idea for Country Goes Reggae came on a trip to Negril, Jamaica in 2019, when producers The Berman Brothers were sitting at sunset at a beach bar listening to Reggae classics as a car passed by blasting U.S. country songs. they knew the two worlds, with the blend of different styles and cultures, would work perfectly together.

The 11-track project recreates the musical arrangements behind beloved country hits, featuring Jimmie Allen, Randy Houser, Alexandra Kay, Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, Landon Parker, Chase Rice, Uncle Kracker, Lainey Wilson, and Country Music Hall of Famers Alabama and Dolly Parton.

The upcoming project reimagines Parton’s “Two Doors Down,” Alabama’s “Pass It On Down,” Rascal Flatts’ “I Like The Sound of That,” Toby Keith’s “Red Solo Cup,” Uncle Kracker’s “Smile,” Randy Houser’s “Boots On,” Jimmie Allen’s “Make Me Want To,” and more.

Travis Denning Shares New Track From Upcoming Six-Song EP

Travis Denning‘s new six-song EP, Might As Well Be Me, is slated to drop on Aug. 5. Today (July 8), the rising singer-songwriter released a new track from the upcoming project, “Buy A Girl A Drink,” co-written with Jeremy Stover, Paul DiGiovanni and Chase McGill.

Might As Well Be Me will include the previously-released track “She’s On It,” a contemplation on a mistake that can’t be fixed. On “Don’t Give a Truck” Denning drops some heartfelt wisdom with a pure country turn of phrase. Other tracks on the collection include the nostalgia-tinged “River Named Mississippi,” rollicking “Red Round Here,” and the serene “If You Need Anything Down Here,” which finds Denning pledging support to a fallen friend.

“Last year and my most recent EP were all about thankfulness, and being glad to have any live shows at all,” Denning reveals. “This time a lot of that is behind us, and it’s like ‘Alright, let’s get to work.’ Overall, I wanted this EP to feel like a setlist. And I wanted it to be a no skipper.”

The Georgia native and Mercury Nashville recording artist’s first No. 1, “After A Few,” was recently certified Platinum. He’s currently out on the road this summer with Dierks Bentley, and will join Jake Owen on tour this fall.

Carrie Underwood’s ‘Denim & Rhinestones’ Goes Purple With Special Vinyl Pressing

Carrie Underwood’s Denim & Rhinestones is getting the vinyl treatment with a new purple vinyl being released today (July 8).

Signed CD box sets and signed vinyl box sets are also available now, which include an exclusive t-shirt, rhinestone pack, denim tote bag, album slip mat, and signed photo card in limited quantities. A cassette version will also be available Aug. 5.

The new album, released on June 10, is Underwood’s 10th album to debut in the top 10 on the all-genre Billboard Top 200.

Underwood just returned from the UK, where she promoted Denim & Rhinestones and made headlines joining Guns N’ Roses onstage for two songs during their July 1-2 shows at the UK’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. While in London, Underwood appeared on a variety of programs, including ITV’s Lorraine, Absolute Radio and BBC Radio 2’s Steve Wright in the Afternoon, and The Country Show with Bob Harris. She also appeared at an intimate invitation-only Q&A for a group of media and fans.

She’ll head out on the road this fall stateside on her recently announced U.S. arena tour that runs through spring with special guest Jimmie Allen.

Kane Brown Earns Three-Week MusicRow No. 1

Kane Brown’s “Like I Love Country Music” continues its reign atop the MusicRow CountryBreakout Radio Chart, earning an additional +20 spin bump this week. 

“Like I Love Country Music” was written by Brown, Matthew McGinn, Taylor Phillips, and Jordan Schmidt. McGinn edged into No. 5 this week on the MusicRow Top Songwriter Chart. Phillips lands at No. 18, Schmidt at No. 39, and Brown at No. 40. 

Brown will head across seas in September for his headlining international “The Drunk or Dreaming Tour,” with Blanco Brown, Chris Lane, Jesse James Decker, and Restless Road on select dates.

Rising Singer-Songwriter Kameron Marlowe Announces Debut Album

Rising singer-songwriter Kameron Marlowe will release his debut album, We Were Cowboys, on Aug. 26 through Columbia Nashville/Sony Music Nashville. The record’s title track, written by Marlowe, Wyatt McCubbin and Tyler Farr, is available now.

Produced by CMA and ACM award-winner Dann Huff and Grammy-nominated Brad Hill, the project features 16 tracks. With Marlowe credited as a writer on 10 of the album’s songs, the project also features the lyrical prowess of some of Music City’s most in-demand songwriters, including Casey Beathard, Dan Isbell, Josh Osborne, Rob Williford, Jessi Alexander, Craig Wiseman, and more.

“I’ve been working on this project for the better part of two years, and I’ve lived a lot of life in that time,” Marlowe explains. “This album encapsulates it all—nostalgia, romance, heartbreak, and everything in between. I couldn’t be prouder of this project, and I’m incredibly excited for fans to get a deeper look at who I am through these songs.”

Kimberly Kelly Shows Her Country Music Reverence On Debut Album

Singer-songwriter Kimberly Kelly will release her debut album, I’ll Tell You What’s Gonna Happen, via Show Dog Nashville in partnership with Thirty Tigers on Friday (July 8). The 12-track project is jam-packed with country music references and nostalgia, including in its track list where songs from tunesmiths such as Bob DiPiero, Wynn Varble, and Kent Blazy are featured.

A native of Lorena, Texas, Kelly has spent years paying her dues in both the Texas and Nashville music scenes. After many years of hard work getting her Master’s degree and working full time, she signed her record deal with Show Dog Nashville last summer.

“This is not my first rodeo,” Kelly says of her Show Dog Nashville label debut. “I worked really hard in Texas before I came to Nashville. I wrote songs, put out records, did a radio tour, and played every weekend while going to school and working full-time.”

The project is produced by Brett Tyler, Kelly’s husband and a hit songwriter himself with the No. 1 hit “Cold Beer Calling My Name” under his belt. Prior to the album’s debut, Kelly released “Summers Like That,” an ode to ’90s country summer songs such as “Strawberry Wine,” “Maybe It Was Memphis,” “Keeper of the Stars,” “Walkaway Joe,” “Neon Moon” and more.

She also released the fun “Blue Jean Country Queen,” featuring Steve Wariner, as well as a cover of “Black Rose” by Country Music Hall of Famer Billy Joe Shaver, who Kelly calls a friend and mentor. The track ends with a voicemail from Shaver.

The album title, I’ll Tell You What’s Gonna Happen, is also a nod to Shaver. The abbreviated quote is pulled from a story of the iconic songwriter forcing his way into a Waylon Jennings recording session.

According to Shaver, Jennings had tried to abandon his promise to record some of Shaver’s songs. That’s when Shaver said to Jennings, “I’ll tell you what’s gonna happen. You’re gonna either listen to these songs or I’m gonna whip your ass.” After the outlaw country star agreed to listen to one of Shaver’s songs, he ended up recording many that wound up on Jennings’ 1973 Honky Tonk Heroes album, on which every song but one was written by Shaver.

Inspired by Shaver’s gumption, Kelly named her debut album after the awesome story.

“I landed on this album title on a dare,” Kelly says. “I was like, ‘Sure. What do I care?’ I did the Texas music scene, I’ve done time in Nashville, and I thought my time had passed when I got offered my record deal. My husband could keep writing songs and I’d just be a speech therapist. So I made this album like it’s the last one I’ll ever get to make and the title is my mantra so to speak. I love good songs, and I let the best ones win whether I wrote them or not. It’s a compilation I’m proud of, and I’m thrilled for people to hear them!”

Randy Houser To Host Nikki Mitchell Foundation Homecoming Golf & Concert Benefit

Randy Houser will host the Homecoming Golf & Concert event benefitting the Nikki Mitchell Foundation on Aug. 14-15 at Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. Tickets are on sale now, and every attending ticket holder will also receive a $50 gift card to Icey-Tek Coolers.

The Nikki Mitchell Foundation’s mission is to provide comfort and relief to those affected by pancreatic cancer while raising awareness and searching for a cure.

“I’m honored to host this event benefitting The Nikki Mitchell Foundation,” shares Houser, a Mississippi native. “I always look forward to an opportunity to give back, and to be able to support this foundation along with so many of my friends means a lot to me.”

“Randy is an integral part of the Nikki Mitchell Foundation’s Artist Board,” says NMF Director of Development Christa Bowles. “Although he has performed at more NMF shows than we can count, this will be his first time hosting an event for the foundation. We could not be more grateful to have such a generous, caring and talented board member as our Homecoming host.”

The title track of Houser’s recently announced sixth studio album, Note To Self, is currently climbing the charts at country radio. Set to release on Nov. 11 via Magnolia Music Group, the record was produced by Houser and Blake Chancey and features 10 tracks all co-written by Houser.
