News From Pandora, SiriusXM, Westwood One
• Music lovers listening to Pandora in the car will soon hear advertisements among the songs, as the service seeks a revenue boost. Pandora’s in-car system would have fewer ads than its web and mobile device versions. More than 100 vehicles offer Pandora, and it is available in 270 after-market automotive devices. • Liberty Media Corp. wants SiriusXM satellite radio to become a wholly owned subsidiary of its company. Liberty, which controls about 53 percent of the satcaster, will offer common stock to minority shareholders of SiriusXM Holdings in a tax-free deal. The transaction would be valued at about $10 billion.
• Paul Caine has exited his post as CEO of Westwood One following the completion of the company’s acquisition by Cumulus Media. The $260 million deal was finalized just before year’s end. Lew Dickey continues as chairman and CEO of Cumulus Media.
