CountryBreakout No. 1 Song

July 20, 2012/by Sherod Robertson

Kenny Chesney‘s “Come Over,” the second single from his fifteenth studio album Welcome To The Fishbowl, has catapulted to the No. 1 spot on MusicRow’s CountryBreakout Chart in only ten weeks.

The hit written by Sam Hunt, Shane McAnally, and Josh Osborne, has been described by Chesney as a song “about two people that are as broken as their relationship.” The song describes a couple that keep going back to each other because it’s familiar, and although the relationship has run its course, sometimes it’s easier to reconnect than move on. The sultry lyrics include:

I turn the tv off, to turn it on again
Staring at the blades of the fan as it spins around
Counting every crack, the clock is wide awake
Talking to myself, anything to make a sound

(Chorus)
I told you I wouldn’t call, I told you I wouldn’t care
But baby climbing the walls gets me nowhere
I don’t think that I can take this bed getting any colder
Come over, come over, come over, come over, come over

You can say we’re done the way you always do
It’s easier to lie to me than to yourself
Forget about your friends
You know they’re gonna say
We’re bad for each other
But we ain’t good for anyone else

Pollstar‘s mid year tour rankings list Chesney, who is on the Brothers of the Sun tour with Tim McGraw, as country music’s top grossing touring act. In other Chesney news, he will be saluted with the Crystal Milestone Award at the ACM Honors Sept. 24 at the Ryman Auditorium.
