Multi-Platinum singer-songwriter Chase Rice will release a new album, I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, on Feb. 10, 2023.
The 13-track project finds Rice returning to his roots, both personally and musically, with songs that range from emotional reckoning to admiration of the western way of life. Its track list includes recent releases “Key West & Colorado” and “Way Down Yonder,” plus a reimagined album version of “If I Were Rock & Roll.”
The album follows Rice’s three-part project, The Album, featuring his latest Platinum-certified No. 1 hit, “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen. (feat. Florida Georgia Line)” and his Platinum-certified top 10 hit “Lonely If You Are.”
Rice is so proud of this new body of work that he is honoring his late father, Daniel Rice, with its cover art.

He tells MusicRow, “Today would have been my parents’ 43rd wedding anniversary, and I can’t think of a better way to honor them than with a collection of songs that finally shows the world who I really am; who they raised me to be. If I’m gonna put my dad on the cover of an album, it has to be something he’d be proud of… He’d be proud of this one.
“My dad was one of those good guys you read about – tough, hardworking, always helping other people out,” Rice shares. “I try to live my life in a way that would make him proud. I haven’t always measured up to that, but I get closer to that man I want to be and the man he’d be proud of every single day.
“Making this album was a big step towards that musically, too,” he continues. “Not only is it the most vulnerable I’ve ever been, it’s also a sound he’d enjoy listening to. I’ve always wanted to honor him by using this photo as an album cover, and I know this project is the one that deserves that. I can’t wait for y’all to hear it.”
Instead of taking the traditional route when writing for I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, Rice built the track list with a handful of solo sessions as well as writes from trips with friends. He took the same approach into the recording process with producer Oscar Charles, forgoing a traditional studio and recording in Rice’s home. The singer who has become known for the pop-country sounds of “Eyes On You,” “Ready Set Roll,” and “Gonna Wanna Tonight” brought in a live band with no click track to capture a more rugged, authentic sound for this project.
“‘What can I put out that makes me come to life?’,” he explained to PopCulture of the writing and recording process. “Because if I come to life when I’m on the stage and up there singing songs that I’m passionate about and love, man, people are gonna love them that much more… I’m at the place in my life now where I just want people to know who I really am as opposed to who they think I am. I think this record’s a good start.”

Tractor Supply Company has tapped breakout country artist and two-time CMA Award winner Lainey Wilson as its newest Brand Ambassador.
Tractor Supply will partner with Wilson to support up-and-coming musicians with the launch of an Emerging Artist Program in 2023. The year-long program will be curated by Wilson, who will be joined by established country artists to serve as mentors and help launch the careers of rising artists and their songs inspired by “Life Out Here.” As curator, Wilson will advise and play an active role in launching and executing the overall program. Additional details on the Emerging Artist Program and how to participate will be announced in early 2023.
To kick off the partnership, Tractor Supply debuted a TV ad during the season five premiere of Paramount Network’s hit series Yellowstone, which marked Wilson’s acting debut. The spot is inspired by Tractor Supply’s dedication to “Life Out Here” and features the standout track “Live Off” from Wilson’s new album Bell Bottom Country. Viewers catch footage of Wilson from her childhood and present day, showing how she lives “Life Out Here” and how it impacts her music.
“From small-town aspiring songwriter to the fastest-rising star in country music, Lainey is the perfect mentor, advocate, and spokesperson for Tractor Supply and our Emerging Artist Program,” shares Kimberley Gardiner, Chief Marketing Officer at Tractor Supply. “Growing up in a small farming community and becoming the most nominated artist at this year’s CMA Awards, Lainey is the definition of ‘Life Out Here.’ We’re incredibly excited to partner with Lainey and a small group of rising country music artists to create a path and platform for these voices and songs to be heard.”
“Growing up on a farm in Louisiana made a lasting impact on the outdoor-loving country-hearted woman I am today,” Wilson explains. “I’m honored to be named Tractor Supply’s newest Brand Ambassador and to have the opportunity to curate the Emerging Artist Program. They truly understand who I am at my core and the ‘Life Out Here’ lifestyle that is so important to me.”

Gunnar Latham & Josh Grider Ink Publishing Deals With Major Bob Music
/by Lorie HollabaughPictured (L-R, top row): Mike Doyle (Major Bob), Mitch Ballard (BMI Austin), Brendan Anthony (Texas Music Office); (L-R, middle row): Bob Doyle, Graham Kothman, Andy Friday (all of Major Bob); (L-R, bottom row): Gunnar Latham and Josh Grider (songwriters)
Texans Gunnar Latham and Josh Grider have signed separate worldwide publishing deals with Major Bob Music. The two songwriters and frequent collaborators were first introduced to the publishing company by Mitch Ballard, Executive Director, Creative, BMI Austin.
Raised in San Marcos, Texas, Latham competed in steer wrestling, team roping and tie down throughout college, then professionally. In 2019, he traded that life to chase down his music dreams.
Grider is a songwriter and producer raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico. In college, he and his band worked their way into the Austin music scene and racked up seven No. 1 singles at Texas radio. Soon after, Grider started adding trips to Nashville on his tour stops and decided to settle down and write songs full time.
“Mitch has a keen understanding of the Nashville and Texas markets after years of touring with artists who’ve grown their audiences and evolved as performers,” notes Mike Doyle, GM of Major Bob. “He’s got a great sense for spotting talent early and that’s what he did in this case. Long before Josh and Gunnar were on the Nashville radar, Mitch had introduced us and we were blown away with what they were doing.”
“Josh Grider is deep-rooted as an artist in Texas and Gunnar Latham has established himself as one of the best up-and-coming artists on the scene. When I first met Gunnar, and heard the songs that he and Josh were writing, I immediately sent their music to Andy Friday,” says Ballard. “Major Bob is the perfect fit for them. Bob [Doyle], Mike [Doyle], and Andy are very aware of the level and quality of talent in Texas and have been very proactive with the BMI Austin office to keep a finger on the pulse of talent coming out of the state.”
Major Bob Music is an independent Nashville-based publishing company owned by Bob Doyle that recently celebrated 36 years in business with over seventy No. 1 singles, two ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Awards, and a SESAC Songwriter of the Year. The company’s roster includes Garth Brooks, Zach Top, Nash Overstreet, Andy Sheridan, Ben Williams, Colin Healy, Angelo Petraglia, Ruby Amanfu and Jakub Vanyo.

Sheltered Music Publishing Acquires Interest In Catalog Of Dennis Linde
/by Lydia FarthingDennis Linde
Sheltered Music Publishing has acquired significant interest in Hall of Fame songwriter Dennis Linde’s music catalog.
Linde, who cut five solo albums in the ’70s, is known for writing a handful of Elvis Presley’s hits, including “Burning Love,” which marks Presley’s second highest-charting single in a decade, his 40th hit on Billboard‘s top 10, and would be his last on that chart.
Other notable Linde hits include Garth Brooks’ “Callin’ Baton Rouge” (1993) and The Chicks’ “Goodbye Earl” (1999), as well as “John Deere Green,” “Queen of my Double Wide Trailer,” “It Sure Is Monday,” and “Bubba Shot the Jukebox.” Steve Earl as well as fellow Hall of Fame songwriter and artist, Roger Miller, also recorded several of Linde’s songs.
“It is not often that a catalog as distinguished and diverse as Dennis Linde’s becomes available,” notes Sheltered Music SVP, Darrell Franklin. “As a music publisher, this is the quality of work we all aspire to represent. I’m honored to be able to do that with this music and to help further raise awareness and appreciation of one of Nashville’s greatest songwriting talents.”
“First and foremost, Dennis was a great father and loving husband,” shares Pam Linde. “He was the greatest man I ever met and I miss him every day. When we sat down with Lance [Freed] and Darrell, I knew that Sheltered Music Publishing would be a great home for Dennis’s musical legacy.”
Linde won BMI’s Top Writer Award in 1994 and earned 14 BMI Million-Air songs. In 2001, he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Linde died in 2006 in Nashville at the age of 63.

“I can’t say enough about how excited I am for Adam, Frank [Rogers] and the team over at Spirit,” notes Brice. “Adam has been poised to break out huge as a multi-talented songwriter and I can’t wait to have a front row seat for it. There’s nothing like being at a place that is excited and appreciates you and Spirit has their stuff so together and have every reason to be excited about Adam. The first song I heard before I ever met Adam put me on the floor and he has never let me down since. Better jump on this train y’all, it’s bout to bust out the station.”
“When Lee approached us about meeting with Adam, it was a no-brainer,” adds Frank Rogers, Chief Creative Officer, Spirit Music Group/CEO, Spirit Music Nashville. “I have had the privilege of writing with Adam and know first hand how talented he is in a writing room. “There is just something about the warmth and hustle at Spirit Music Nashville that really excited me,” Wood shares. “I couldn’t be happier to join this team and to continue my publishing relationship with a world-class artist and writer like Lee Brice.”
