Borchetta Entertainment Group, the full-service management division launched by Scott Borchetta earlier this year, has tapped Kevin Spellman and Henley Halem to lead as Co-Vice Presidents.

“The addition of Kevin and Henley to the Borchetta Entertainment Group Management division shows the level of service and commitment we are making to our artists,” says Borchetta. “Kevin and I co-managed Cheap Trick into the Rock’n Roll Hall of Fame and have always remained close. Add Henley Halem to the mix, who is an absolute flamethrower, and this collective is at full strength!”

Halem brings more than two decades of experience across artist management, A&R and marketing to Borchetta Entertainment Group, where he will manage a roster including Yung Gravy, Getter, Terror Reid and DJ 4B.

“I’ve spent my career in service of artists — building the infrastructure that turns moments into long, lasting careers,” says Halem. “That’s exactly the work we’re setting out to do here. Scott Borchetta is one of the most successful architects of artist careers this business has ever seen, and together with Kevin Spellman, we’re building something really special.”

Spellman brings 26 years of artist management experience to Borchetta Entertainment Group, where he will develop and manage a roster that includes Molly Tuttle, Easton Corbin, John Foster and Mark Collie. He joins the company from Vector Management, where he most recently served as Head of the Nashville office.

“I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity to step into the VP role at Borchetta Entertainment Group,” adds Spellman. “Scott’s knowledge of this business is unmatched, and getting to learn from him every day while building something special together is a privilege I don’t take for granted. I’m excited for what’s ahead for our artists and this team.”

Joy Oladokun Rekindles Her Creative Flame On Upcoming New Album ‘Hope Is A Heavy Thing’

Joy Oladokun is gearing up for the release of her new album Hope Is A Heavy Thing on Sept. 25 via Concord Records. Ahead of the release, Oladokun has unveiled a new song from the project, “Kind.”

The 12-track collection marks a bold new chapter for the artist, expanding Oladokun’s sound while continuing to prove her ability to bend genres while also bridging cultures. Across the album, which Oladokun produced with Nigerian producer Spellz, she explores identity, connection and self-discovery with the emotional honesty that has become a hallmark of her songwriting. In addition to “Kind” and the previously shared track “Zombie,” the album also features a collaboration with Nigerian artist Adekunle Gold.

“‘To understand your future you have to confront your past.’ This is the driving theme behind Hope Is A Heavy Thing,” shares Oladokun. “It’s a collection I wrote to help myself find my light again after burning out. Produced in Nashville, New York, and the back of a speeding tour bus, this album is sonically an homage to all of the music that inspires me. On this record you’ll find music that nods the brilliance of the Soulquarians, the rawness of Bob Dylan, the rhythms of afrobeats, and the sampling prowess of J Dilla. Not to mention a callback to the Ronettes and a few songs that find inspiration in rock and roll protest music of the 60’s and 70’s.

“You’ll also find me at the most authentic I’ve been able to be as an artist” she continues. “It is a record I wrote for anyone who finds themselves wondering how to hope in these times. Sometimes it means looking back and digging through the muck to find what’s worth fighting for again.”

A queer Black musician and daughter of Nigerian immigrants, Oladokun has become a vital cultural voice, writing songs that explore identity, faith, mental health, and social justice with honesty and restraint. She has collaborated with fellow artists including Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Maxo Kream, Jack Antonoff, Jason Isbell and Noah Kahan, and has joined Isbell, Kahan, John Mayer, Hozier, My Morning Jacket, Tyler Childers, Pink Sweat$, Leon Bridges and Manchester Orchestra on the road.

Hope Is a Heavy Thing Track List:
1. “Raised By The Radio (A Reintroduction)”
2. “Dear Maria”
3. “Easy Company”
4. “Kind”
5. “TOGIAIM”
6. “Sage” (feat. Adekunle Gold)
7. “The End Of The World”
8. “Zombie”
9. “Toothache”
10. “Don’t Call Me Baby!”
11. “Die Young”
12. “Time Is A River”

Tigirlily Gold Slates Sophomore Album ‘Country & Midwestern’ For October

Tigirlily Gold will release their sophomore album, Country & Midwestern, on Oct. 9. The duo has dropped a new single from the project, their latest track, “Something To Drink About.”

The new album was named after the sisters’ proud North Dakota roots and their previously released song of the same name, and is a celebration of a region often overlooked in country music conversations despite embodying the very spirit the genre was built on. For Tigirlily Gold, being “Midwestern” has always meant hard work, family, faith, grit, and finding joy in the everyday, qualities that have shaped both who they are and the music they make.

“We could not be more excited to finally announce our sophomore album, Country & Midwestern!” says Kendra Olson and Krista Slaubaugh of Tigirlily Gold. “This album came to be by taking the sounds of the 2000s Country music we grew up on and our love of growing up in the Midwest, which is often overlooked and under-appreciated. While the album is sonically nostalgic, the lyrics cover where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re going, professionally and personally. We spent the last two years planting many seeds – some that painted fields gold and some that never had the chance to grow. We did not sugarcoat any of our experiences, and hope everyone can hear the heart of this album, because it’s one and the same as ours.”

The project announcement follows the release of a cinematic album trailer in which the duo reflects on the farming lessons that shaped their outlook, from growing up during North Dakota harvest seasons to learning that success isn’t measured solely by the crop, but by having the courage to keep planting.

That same perseverance runs throughout Country & Midwestern, a record born out of years of believing in their dreams, even when the harvest wasn’t yet in sight. The album artwork was photographed in North Dakota by Kendra’s husband, Jared Olson, capturing the wide-open prairie that inspired the record and reinforcing the project’s deeply personal foundation.

Max McNown Readies Third Album

Max McNown will release his third studio album, Leave On A Light, on Sept. 25 via Fugitive Recordings.

McNown worked closely with longtime collaborator and producer Jamie Kenney and co-writers like Julian Bunetta on the 17-track LP.

“In a way, most of the songs on this album are love songs,” says McNown. “They’re a tribute to my wife and my family, the people who care about who I am outside of music and give me a place of peace and unconditional love to come home to.”

McNown is currently amidst his “The Summer Vacation Tour” with upcoming dates in Delaware, Massachusetts, Illinois and more.
