MerleFest has announced its second round of lineup additions for the upcoming 2022 event, taking place from April 28-May 1 at Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina.
Joining this year’s lineup are Old Crow Medicine Show, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Steep Canyon Rangers, Allison Russell, We Banjo 3, Darrell Scott, Alison Brown, 49 Winchester, Arlo McKinley, Rev. Mitchell Tenpenny Extends Headlining Tour With ‘2 Us It Did’ Dates

Mitchell Tenpenny will continue his 2021 headlining tour into 2022 with some new dates on the now-named “2 Us It Did Tour.” Alana Springsteen will be the featured opener on the new dates.
The second leg adds 13 concerts through early March, and is named after his “To Us It Did” song from Mitchell’s Midtown Diaries EP, which was released last fall. On this new trek Tenpenny will visit Denver, St. Louis, Indianapolis, and more through March 5.
“Seeing our fans scream back our songs especially ‘Truth About You’ was so special on the first half of the tour,” shares Mitchell. “I’m so excited to extend this tour and live it again. It’s going to be incredible having the talented Alana out with us!”
The first leg of the tour wrapped just before Christmas and included Mitchell’s first-ever, sold-out headline concert at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The concert raised $32,500 for the 10Penny Fund, which provides inspiration and programs that help build community, motivate patients, and encourage healing for people facing cancer and their loved ones.
Tenpenny has rolled out new music over the past several months in response to fan demand, including a new version of his song “Bucket List” featuring Danny Gokey, and his recently-released Midtown Diaries EP. The project contains his current single, “Truth About You,” which has garnered over 69 million global streams to date.
George Strait, Tim McGraw, Maren Morris Among 2022 RodeoHouston Lineup

George Strait, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Maren Morris, Kane Brown, Luke Bryan, Chris Stapleton, and many more are among the star-studded list of performers on this year’s bill. Nearly half of the artists will make their RodeoHouston debut in 2022, as the event celebrates its 90th anniversary with a mix of genres including country, EDM, Latin pop, R&B, Norteño, pop, rock and Christian.
“We are excited about the level of talent and diverse acts who will perform on the RodeoHouston star stage in 2022,” says Chris Boleman, Rodeo president and CEO. “We welcome nine new entertainers who will make their RodeoHouston debut, as well as many fan-favorites, including the ‘King of Country’ music himself, George Strait, who will return to the stage to help celebrate our 90th anniversary.”
Individual RodeoHouston tickets will go on sale to the public on Thursday, Jan. 13 at 10 a.m. at rodeohouston.com.

Prescription Songs Inks Publishing Deal With JT Daly

Prescription Songs has inked a deal with Nashville-based producer and songwriter JT Daly. He will be represented by Katie Fagan, Prescription Songs Head of A&R, Nashville, alongside Rachel Wein and Chris Martignago.
Daly has garnered Grammy nominations for Best Rock Song and Best Engineered Album for producing/co-writing K. Flay‘s “Blood in the Cut” and more on her breakout album Everywhere is Somewhere. In winter 2021, JT produced and co-wrote Benson Boone’s debut single “Ghost Town,” which has already accumulated over 100 million streams.
He has also collaborated with PVRIS on her newest track “Snakes” for the top Netflix series Arcane. Other previous releases include collaborations with Grandson, Bren Joy and Quinn XCII. Upcoming releases include work with Why Don’t We, The Regrettes, and Fleurie.
Fagan comments: “JT is an extremely innovative songwriter, producer and artist. We feel incredibly honored and lucky to have such a talent as a part of our roster, especially here in Nashville. Amy Paige Makes Her Return To Nashville Airwaves On 103.3 Country

Amy Paige is returning to Nashville country radio beginning today (Jan. 10), as On-Air Host, Middays, on Cumulus Radio’s 103.3 Country/WKDF-FM. Paige can be heard live Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
She has been a fixture on the Nashville radio scene for the past 15 years, having spent nine years on-air at WSIX-FM. She was also previously on-air on SiriusXM’s Prime Country and The Highway, and at Mix 107.3/WRQX-FM in Washington, D.C.

Ruthie Collins Releases Expanded Edition Of ‘Cold Comfort’ Record
/by LB CantrellCountry recording artist Ruthie Collins has released an expanded version of her critically-acclaimed 2020 release, Cold Comfort, via Curb | Word Entertainment’s Sidewalk Records.
Cold Comfort + features the new track “Hypocrite,” which impacts country radio on Monday (Jan. 10). The track was co-written by Collins and her friend and Runaway June member Natalie Stovall.
Of the song, Collins shares, “I hope ‘Hypocrite’ lets people know that even though we’re all trying our best to keep it together, there’s so much freedom in owning your emotions—in moving through them instead of blocking them—and that there is true healing and love on the other side.”
Unable to tour behind the album, Collins temporarily left her adopted hometown of Nashville and headed home to her mother’s place in upstate New York. There, she recorded acoustic renditions of three Cold Comfort songs: “Hey Little Girl,” “Joshua Tree,” and “Wish You Were Here.” Cold Comfort + was co-produced by Wes Harllee and mixed by Ryan Freeland.
Tracy Lawrence To Release Final Installment Of ‘Hindsight 2020’ Project

Country music icon Tracy Lawrence marked 30 years of making country music in 2021. To celebrate the milestone, he has been releasing his three-part Hindsight 2020 collection, which revisits some of his greatest hits along with new material.
The third and final volume release, Hindsight 2020, Volume 3: Angelina, will be available on Jan. 28. Lawrence gave a preview of the upcoming collection with the release of its title track, “Angelina,” available everywhere now.
“‘Angelina’ is a get-out-of-your-seats and have a good time kind of song,” says Lawrence. “I love its honky-tonk groove and how much energy it has. It’s going to be a lot of fun to play live and I’m looking forward to having the audience up on their feet with this one!”
Later this spring, Lawrence will head back out on the road with longtime friend, Clay Walker, to share the stage on a 9-date run. TikTok sensation Alexandra Kay and country traditionalist Randall King are slated to open on select dates.

Ben Rector Gives Sneak Peek Of Upcoming Album With Three New Tracks

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Ben Rector has given fans a taste of his upcoming album with three new tracks—“Dream On,” “Supernatural” featuring Grammy award-winning musician Dave Koz, and “Living My Best Life”—available everywhere now.
Rector’s forthcoming album, The Joy of Music, is scheduled for release on March 11, and will include collaborations with award-winning rapper Snoop Dogg, jazz musician Kenny G, Taylor Goldsmith from folk-rock band Dawes, and One Voice Children’s Choir. The singer-songwriter has many plans in store for 2022, including a short film and tour to accompany the album.
“I really think this album is my best work and I can’t wait to share it with the world,” says Rector.
While studying at the University of Arkansas, Rector released his first self-titled EP, which launched his music career. By the time he graduated, Rector had released two full-length albums and quickly moved to Nashville to dive into the music industry. Now, Rector has released seven studio albums, including Brand New (2015) which peaked in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 and Magic (2018) which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Americana/Folk Albums chart.
Sean Stemaly Shows His Small Town Roots On Upcoming Debut Album

Sean Stemaly has previewed his upcoming debut album, Product Of A Small Town, with the release of the project’s title track. The new Big Loud Records project is slated to arrive in full on Feb. 18.
Written by Stemaly, David Bliek, Gary Garris, Andrew Marik and Noah West, “Product Of A Small Town” serves as an ode to all the things that made the 27-year-old who he is, including good friends, nights out in the open air, and country music.
“‘Product Of A Small Town’ is the most authentic representation of my country and rock roots all wrapped up in one song,” Stemaly shares. “I want everybody that grew up in a small town to hear it and take pride in where they come from, crank it up and raise a beer to it.”
The new album was produced by Joey Moi and co-produced by Derek Wells, with additional production by Stemaly and Lex Lipsitz on select songs. The album contains a number of previous releases, including “Z71” which has scored 18 million global streams since its release, “Come Back to Bed,” and “As Far As I Know.”

Paramount+ Share Details Of Upcoming ‘The Marfa Tapes’ Documentary
/by Lorie HollabaughMiranda Lambert, Jack Ingram, and Jon Randall’s The Marfa Tapes documentary will premiere exclusively on Paramount + on Jan. 20. The film will also roll out in the Nordics, Australia, Latin America, and Canada the same day.
The film offers viewers a glimpse inside the making of the 2021 album of the same name, which was recently nominated for Best Country Album at The 64th Annual Grammy Awards. Directed by Spencer Peeples and featuring live performances set against the backdrop of West Texas, The Marfa Tapes also features candid interviews and behind-the-scenes footage from the five-day album recording session in November 2020.
With just a pair of mics and acoustic guitars, the trio recorded much of the album outdoors, letting the sounds of the desert seep into their stripped down performances.
The Marfa Tapes joins Paramount+’s growing slate of music specials, including the recently released Madame X, Kacey Musgraves’ Star-Crossed, Oasis Knebworth 1996, and the upcoming Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett documentary.
