Larry Cordle

“Murder On Music Row” songwriter Larry Cordle has teamed up with some of the artists who’ve recorded his songs over the past decade for a new duet project chock full of those same songs, reimagined and retooled with a bluegrass or acoustic twist. The Cord Files: All-Star Duets should live up to its name with artists like Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Kenny Chesney, and Dierks Bentley on the album. The project is due out Oct. 8 on Cordle’s label, MightyCord Records.
The project started nearly 10 years ago at Signal Path Studios as artists’ schedules would allow, with editing and mixing being done by Randy Kohrs, who also contributed resonator and backing vocals. Alison Krauss & Union Station members Jerry Douglas and Ron Block, along with renowned songwriter/musician Carl Jackson also played on the sessions. Krauss, Terri Clark, Del McCoury, Diamond Rio, Ricky SkaggsTravis Tritt, Kathy Mattea, Daryle Singletary, and Kevin Denney all appear on the star-studded, bluegrass extravaganza.
Rather than trying to choose a single out of the talent-heavy collection, the entire album will be released to radio via Airplay Direct prior to the official drop date. “Lonesome Dove” (Yearwood), “Two Highways” (Krauss), “You Can’t Take It With You When You Go” (Bentley), and “Against the Grain” (Brooks), are just a few of the songs fans can look forward to hearing on the new collection. Cordle’s hit, “Murder on Music Row” also appears on the new CD with a new interpretation by Singletary and Denney.
“I feel like I must have done something right in life that I could call on these larger than life, great artists and wonderful people to help me out with a dream,” Cordle states. “It is simply unbelievable to me that it is this close to becoming reality. I will never be able to repay these folks for doing this for me.”

James Robert Webb – Party In The Barn

James Robert Webb is heads and shoulders above other country artists, and that isn’t just figurative either! At 6 foot 5 inches tall, the phrase holds true literally as well.
With all that height, one would have expected Webb to be pursuing some sort of athletic career, but music had a greater calling on his life. Growing up in rural Oklahoma in a small town called Kellyville, Webb quickly started experimenting with music. At 7, he began to teach himself how to play piano. In his teens, he added guitar to his instrumental repertoire. He learned both instruments by ear, giving him the skills necessary to excel at jazz music later on, becoming an Oklahoma All-State Jazz pianist in high school. He also applied his ear training to other improvisational genres such as Western swing.
In 2010, Webb began to pursue songwriting. Drawing inspiration from his favorite artists, including Garth Brooks, The Rolling Stones, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, B.B. King, Miranda Lambert, Vince Gill and more, Webb’s music gives a modern take on traditional country. He blends the best of the music genres to create a unique country flavor.
“I listen to virtually every kind of music there is, but when it comes to country music, I am mostly moved by the traditional country music and honky tonk, as well as the vocal stylists. Garth Brooks, Ronnie Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Willie Nelson, Vince Gill—these are the kinds of artists that I relate to the most. In my personal opinion, that’s what’s missing from country radio today—country music. Namely, fiddle and steel.”

Brinley Addington – Middle Of Nowhere

Hailing from Kingsport, Tennessee, Brinley Addington’s strong passion for country music has paved a clear path for him in Nashville. In addition to developing his career under the guidance of Chris Young, he’s shared the stage with the likes of Florida-Georgia Line, Justin Moore, The Band Perry, Eli Young Band, Josh Turner, and many more. Performances include appearances at well-known stages across the country including The Bluebird Café and Chicago’s Joe’s Bar. Addington is now gearing up for the highly anticipated release of his sophomore project, Middle of Nowhere. With veteran producer Phil O’Donnell and up-and-coming producer, Aaron Eshuis, this project has been a labor of love for the Tennessee native.
“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve been blessed with. So many cool things are happening, it’s just unreal,” says Addington. “I get to live in Nashville, TN, write with some of my songwriting heroes, and get to travel to so many cool places to play shows with artists I’ve looked up to for a long time. It’s awesome. I just want to keep writing and recording good, relatable, country music that honors tradition and still speaks to my generation. So far, I’m having a blast and can’t wait for everyone to hear this new music.”
Addington’s passion for Country music began well before the dynamic performer can even remember. At age three, Brinley began emulating his favorite legends from the Grand Ole Opry stage on top of his parent’s coffee table. Brinley was influenced early on by the hymns he heard on Sunday morning and the traditional country voices of Randy Travis, Vince Gill, and Alan Jackson. As time went by, Brinley gained inspiration from modern Country artists like Garth Brooks and Tim McGraw. Those early hymns and newly found love of modern day country inspired Brinley to begin performing at his Church in his early teens. It was at that time he realized God’s plan for his life: making music… and he never turned back…
Brinley introduced himself first to country music with the release of his debut full-length album Homegrown in 2011. This project garnered outstanding reviews from peers and music industry professionals alike. The album peaked at #53 on the iTunes country album charts independently. Homegrown produced two music videos (“Hang on a Farm,” “As Long As You Love Me”) that have already gained over 100,000 views. Booked by William Morris Endeavor, Addington has served as headliner and supporting act at numerous fairs, festivals, and college events across the country and has participated in unique country events such as the Blake Shelton & Friends Cruise.
Addington’s sophomore album Middle of Nowhere is slated for an August 5th release. The title track and lead single will be shipped to Country radio on July 21st.

Rachel Holder – "Lord Help Me"

Curb-Rachel-072913-BB

In a town full of attractive Country stars, it takes a lot for a young female singer to stand out and catch the attention of Nashville’s music industry crowd.
“I’ve already learned that it takes more than a few good songs to make it in Nashville,” says Rachel Holder. “These days, I don’t think that there’s any one formula for success, necessarily, but I know you have to have faith in yourself, passion for the music and a serious will to succeed. And great songs!”
Produced by Wilbur Rimes and Chuck Howard, “Lord Help Me” is one of those songs that makes you love country music. And just as it would’ve been perfect for Carrie Underwood–who co-wrote the song with Ashley Monroe and Katrina Elam–it’s perfect for Curb Records Rachel Holder!

Eileen Carey – Bottle Your Crazy Up

In the grand tradition of such classic “advice songs” as “Don’t Come Home A’ Drinkin’,” “Love The One You’re With,” “Give Peace A Chance” and “Keep Your      Hands To Yourself,” now comes Eileen Carey’s insanely catchy new single, “BOTTLE YOUR CRAZY UP.”
That title is a phrase you’ll probably find yourself repeating the rest of your life—especially when you’re dealing with a friend’s obsessive behavior.
Here’s the scene of the song:  One woman is telling another not to rebound from a bad breakup too hard and too fast.  And here’s what she advises:
Don’t order the tequila, ‘cause you know how you get,
Don’t talk about your ex, you ain’t over him yet,
You can wear the short skirt, but I’d forget the heels,
And don’t go on about how you feel. . . .
Bottle your crazy up!*
Set for release to country radio the week of July 7, “BOTTLE YOUR CRAZY UP” is the latest gem from Eileen’s loudly applauded new album, Let It Go.
Eileen will be visiting radio stations throughout the summer for meet-and-greets, interview and live performances of “BOTTLE YOUR CRAZY UP.”

Uncle Kracker – "Blue Skies"

YouTube video

unclekracker“This is a full-on country record,” says Uncle Kracker unapologetically. “Maybe not the ‘A guy walks into a bar and goes, ‘Where does a man go to get a drink in this town?’ kind of country, but it’s my version.
“I’m a suburban kid, but I grew up on a dirt road. I still live on a dirt road, a block from the street I grew up on. I’d kinda say I’m full-on Midwest, but that’s not actually an accurate description either, ‘cause I’ve traveled around so much. I can tell you this, though: those guys who have the jacked up trucks, they laugh at a lot of the same stuff I do – because at the end of the day, a good time is a good time wherever you go.”
Midnight Special his Sugar Hill label debut bottles that notion up. No matter where you are, how hard life might be or what you dream, Uncle Kracker believes the most powerful thing you can do is celebrate the now. Whether it’s the dumped-but-loving-the-future “Nobody’s Sad on a Saturday Night,” the gone for the weekend “In Between Disasters” or the Tom Petty-feeling small town truth behind what people reveal “It Is What It Is,” Uncle Kracker’s conversational baritone cuts through the mix to put life in perspective.
“I laugh all day seems like,” says the man actually named Matt Shafer. “I think I laugh all the time. From the time I wake up ‘til I go to bed, it seems like there’s always something to laugh about! People are funny: the way they do the things they do. Things are funny. I think living is funny to be honest…”
That easy-going ability to take life as it comes has given Uncle Kracker a place in Country (with the Top 10 hit “Smile”), Pop (“Drift Away,” his Dobie Gray redux that featured Gray on vocals, set a Billboard record for most weeks at #1 on any chart, topping their Adult Contemporary chart for 28 weeks), Rock (“Follow Me,” from the double platinum Double Wide, was a Top 5 hit) and as a D.J./vocalist in rock/rap icon Kid Rock’s Twisted Brown Trucker Band. Then there was “When the Sun Goes Down,” the #1 Country hit that sat on top of the charts for 6 weeks with friend and sometimes tour mate Kenny Chesney plus the multi-format smash hit “All Summer Long” which he co-wrote with Kid Rock.
“There’s stuff to take serious,” he continues. “But it doesn’t make sense to give too much of a damn. Take it as it comes. It’s pretty simple. I’m trying to lift people’s spirits… Make’em feel good ‘cause everybody needs that.”
Working with acclaimed producer Keith Stegall (Alan Jackson, Zac Brown Band, George Jones), the pair had one rule going into the studio: “If you can’t sing it with an acoustic guitar, we’re not cutting it.”
The result is a collection of songs that move from “Nuthin’ Changes,” a white trash homage to Joe Walsh’s “Life’s Been Good,” to the soul-shuffle “Happy,” which wishes an old girlfriend well to the plucky countryfied “You Got That Thang,” that’s equal parts taunt and invitation. There’s the crunchy clever “Four Letter Word,” with its stinging guitar and serious backbeat, capturing the manic nature of can’t-live-with-or-without’em relationships.
But what stands out most is how solid Uncle Kracker’s voice is throughout. Always a salty, but welcoming vocal presence, Stegall challenged the singer to really come to the table with his delivery.
“In Detroit, maybe it’s more about looking cool than stretching,” Uncle Kracker allows. “I mean, my first album was gonna be a rap record, so I’ve grown a lot in 12 years.”
“Keith wanted me to try things, to go for it… I’d be asking, ‘Do you shoot it down the middle? Go over the top?’ and Keith was like, ‘Just go in there and hit it.’ So, I was definitely out of my comfort zone.”
Uncle Kracker, who wrote or co-wrote all 11 songs, worked with a group of writers who truly understood his mind set.
With Midnight Special, the Mount Clemens, Michigander brings it all home. Love, life, heartbreak, friends, fun, songs and laughing your way through it, it’s all here.

Morgan Riley – Rowdy Shoutin' Cowboys

With a riveting passion for music, it’s clear that Morgan Riley offers something new to country audiences. Her newest release Collage is just that – a melting pot of genres with a honky-tonk rhythm. Riley has handled each curve with hope and exuberance – all the while trying to connect with her new country fan base.
“I’m a firm believer in everything happening for a reason – everything that’s happened throughout my life has led to my relationship with SkyTone Entertainment and the release of this album. I couldn’t be happier.”
A Maryland native, Riley knew she was destined to be a singer. Impressed by their daughter’s obvious talents, Riley’s parents were her greatest supporters in her pursuit of a music career. At a young age, Riley sang at weddings, anniversary parties, and by 15, she was recording at a local studio. With confident experience gained in live and studio performance, she made the move to the Big Apple at 18. While in New York City, Riley found herself regularly performing pop-R&B and recording at the legendary Hit Factory Studio. Her interest in country led her to move back to Greenville, South Carolina to begin perfecting her country edge.
With her father’s inspiring words not to give up on her dreams, it has paid off. She beat out 4,300 people for the Pride of Carolinas and received single placement on the competition’s compilation album by Koch New York, featuring the best artists in North and South Carolina. After, she worked with producer Chris Clay (TLC) on her album Affinity. Affinity landed in the lap of veteran producer and engineer Frank Green, whose track record includes multiple number one hits, gold, and platinum albums. After performing for Green, he quickly signed Morgan to his label, SkyTone Entertainment.
Soon after, Riley and Green began writing together for Collage – a writing relationship whose chemistry she describes as “off the chart”. Drawing inspiration from her musical influences like – Carrie Underwood, Alanis Morrisette, and Jewel – has given her unparalleled flexibility when it comes to writing.
“I’ve taken bits and pieces from different genres and pulled them into my writing. Collage is very much a product of that…representing my voice. Now that I’ve found my country side, I can’t wait to share it with fans.”
“Rowdy Shoutin’ Cowboys,” a single off the Collage album, was co-written by Riley and Green and an excellent representation of their captivating style. Reaching thousands of views on YouTube, her music video for “Rowdy Shoutin’ Cowboys” shows off her personality and dance skills as a performer, as well as cameos of local Nashville fame. Even after the release of her recent album Collage in June, Riley continues to write and perform on her tour.
