NASH TV Coming To Smart TVs, Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast

nash tvCumulus Media is expanding NASH TV through a partnership with Qello Concerts, the worldwide leader in streaming long-form concert films on demand.

Qello Concerts will feature NASH TV’s original content across its worldwide OTT streaming platform. It will be available via web access, smart TVs (Samsung, Sony), Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, PlayStation, XBOX, Google Chromecast, and mobile devices (iOS, Android, Windows).

NASH TV features original content based on the country lifestyle including NASH Nights Live, Grits & Hits, America’s Morning Show, and Real Live Performances. Many of this content is recorded at the NASH campus in Nashville.

The growing NASH brand includes dozens of country radio stations, NASH Country Weekly magazine, concerts/events, online and TV content, the NASH Icon joint venture with Big Machine Label Group and the upcoming NASH Next talent competition.

The CMT Music Awards gave a track sales boost to many of the artists who performed on the show. After his performance on the show, Keith Urban reeled in the top country single debut, with “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16” selling 36K and entering at No. 7.

Among those in the top 10 country tracks who saw sales gains are:

On the country albums chart, the Now Country 8 compilation is the top country debut, entering at No. 1 with sales of 19K.

BMLG band A Thousand Horses debuted at No. 3 with 17K copies of Southernality, produced by Dave Cobb. In addition, the lead single “Smoke” has been certified Gold by the RIAA. Michael Hobby, Bill Satcher, Graham DeLoach and Zach Brown will make their late-night television debut June 24 on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, where they will perform new single, “(This Ain’t No) Drunk Dial.”

Elsewhere on the country albums chart, Montgomery Gentry delivered Folks Like Us (4.6K) and Cam’s EP Welcome to Cam Country geared up with 2K. In its second week of release, the duet project from Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard fell to No. 5 with 14K.

On the overall chart, Muse’s Drones debuted at No. 1 with 84K (79K album only). Coming in at No. 5 is the Rolling Stones reissue of Sticky Fingers 36K (34K album only), just in time for tonight’s Nashville concert at LP Field.

Weekly Register: Debuts By Willie & Merle, Billy Currington, Gloriana

Willie-Merle-2Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard have the No. 1 country album this week. Their latest, Django & Jimmie, debuted with sales of 31K. The pair last enjoyed a No. 1 record together 32 years ago with Pancho & Lefty. Produced by Buddy Cannon, the Legacy Recordings album is a tribute to jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt and Jimmie Rodgers.

Also on the country album chart, Billy Currington’s Summer Forever debuted at No. 3 with 21K. Gloriana entered at No. 13 with Three selling 4.5K.

Apple Music To Launch June 30

appleApple Music, offering streaming, online radio and an artist connection component, will be available starting June 30 in over 100 countries. The tech company revealed the long-rumored initiative today (June 8) at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco.

Initially, Apple Music will be available on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and PC. It will come to Apple TV and Android phones this fall. The streaming service and app includes the entire 30 million songs in the Apple Music catalog, and users can also listen to their own uploaded music.

Beats 1, Apple’s first live radio station, is a 24-hour listening experience led by influential DJs Zane Lowe in Los Angeles, Ebro Darden in New York and Julie Adenuga in London. It will broadcast live to over 100 countries with listeners around the globe hearing the same programming at the same time, including exclusive interviews, guest hosts and more.

Additionally, Apple Music Radio will offer curated stations across all genres. Members can skip as many songs as they like.

The “For You” section of Apple Music is curated with a personalized mix of albums, new releases and playlists.

In addition to human curation, users can ask Siri to, “Play me the best songs from 1994,” or “What was the number one song in February 2011?”

In Apple Music with Connect, artists can share lyrics, backstage photos, videos or release their latest song directly to fans directly from their iPhone. Fans can comment on or like anything an artist has posted, and share it via Messages, Facebook, Twitter and email. And the artist can respond directly to the user.

A 3-month free membership will be available June 30, after which a $9.99/month subscription fee will apply. There will also be a family plan providing service for up to six family members for $14.99/month.

Weekly Register: Big Debuts By Brantley Gilbert, Kelsea Ballerini

brantley platinum editionBrantley Gilbert is in the top spot on the country album chart with the just-released Platinum Edition of his current project Just As I Am. The album shot from No. 22 to No. 1, selling 28K TW and 800K RTD. The Valory Music Co. project offers five new songs including the raw title track and a remix of the two-times platinum “Bottoms Up” featuring rapper T.I. The standard release closed out 2014 as one of the Top 5 best selling country albums and earned the third highest country debut of 2014.

Black River Records newcomer Kelsea Ballerini’s debut album landed at No. 4 country, selling 13K albums and yielding 17.5K total consumption. Sales of The First Time were driven largely by her hit “Love Me Like You Mean It.”

Luke Bryan is kicking it in the top spot on the country tracks chart. He scored the top country debut and top overall debut. His new track “Kick The Dust Up” sold 127K, coming in at No. 5 overall and No. 1 country.

Gilbert’s BMLG labelmate Taylor Swift also had a good week. Her album jumped 146 percent on the Top 200, selling 91K TW. The single “Bad Blood” (a new version features Kendrick Lamar) rose 972 percent to No. 1 on the tracks chart, selling 321K TW. Her solo version sold 63K, for a combined total of 384K TW.

The new song from Chris Young, “I’m Comin’ Over,” is the top country debut (No. 2) and top overall debut (No. 12) this week. The first single from his upcoming album sold 71K, but couldn’t knock “Girl Crush” (85K) out of the top country spot. Picking up steam from The Voice, Meghan Linsey debuted “Tennessee Whiskey” with 32K downloads, and Steven Tyler’s country outing, “Love Is Your Name,” entered at No. 9 country, selling 25K.

On the overall tracks chart, Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” sold 227K TW and more than 2 million RTD.

The Pitch Perfect 2 soundtrack is a hit just like the movie. It debuted at No. 1 overall with activity of 107K (92K albums only).

Weekly Register: Stapleton Debuts Strong

Chris Stapleton’s Traveller debuts at No. 2 with album sales of 27K (30K activity). It is the best-selling first week by a debut country artist this year and one of the Top 10 best first week country debuts in the last five years. Traveller was recorded at Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A (with additional production at The Castle and Blackbird Studio) and was produced by Dave Cobb (Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell) and Stapleton, and recorded by Vance Powell (Jack White). In support of Traveller, Stapleton will be performing on a series of shows on Eric Church’s tour. Earlier today Stapleton received a CMT Music Award nomination for Performance of the Year with Lady Antebellum.

Also on the country album chart, Granger Smith debuts at No. 6 with 8.7K. He co-produced his debut EP, 4×4, with hitmaker Frank Rogers, a three-time MusicRow Producer of the Year.

On the Top 200, the new Mumford & Sons album debuted at No. 1 with activity of 249K and 231K album only. Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” is locked in at the top of the tracks chart TW, selling 251K for a RTD total of 1.949 million.

HSN, Inc. Partners To Offer Margaritaville-Inspired Products

Country had a great showing this week. Zac Brown Band’s latest, Jekyll + Hyde, debuts at No. 1 overall, with 228K total activity, 214K album only. The superstar act scored one of the biggest country debuts in recent memory, along with October 2014 releases by Florida Georgia Line (197K) and Jason Aldean (278K).

Meanwhile Tyler Farr’s sophomore effort had a strong debut, entering at No. 2 country with Suffer In Peace moving 42K (36K album only). With today’s chart position, Farr is the only solo male country artist in the last 10 years to have his first two studio albums debut in the top 5 on the Billboard 200 Chart. 

Both Farr and ZBB had hit singles going into release week, with “Homegrown” and “A Guy Walks Into A Bar,” respectively.

Rounding out the top 5 on the country album chart are No. 3 Reba (15K), No. 4 Sam Hunt (15K) and No. 5 Little Big Town (8.2K).

The foursome also holds the top country track position, with “Girl Crush” selling 81K TW. By comparison, the top overall track, Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” sold 285K.

The Voice’s Corey Kent White had the top country track debut with “When I See You Smile” selling 15K and coming in at No. 16. Fellow contestant Sawyer Fredericks had the top overall debut with “Simple Man” selling 59K.
