“Matt represents the best qualities that are so often associated with Nashville songwriters: genuine musicality; smart, poignant lyricism; a deep respect for the craft; and a work ethic that rivals the best in the business. We are thrilled to partner with Warner Chappell in working with Matt and are excited to bring his songs to the masses,” says Altadena’s Daniel Lee.

Altadena was founded by the late songwriter and producer busbee in 2018. The company offers publishing, label and artist development services in partnership with Warner Chappell, Warner Records and Red Light Management.

Artist Rights Organizations Offer New COVID-19 Resource Website

Artist rights organizations including the Artist Rights Alliance, American Association of Independent Music, the Music Artists Coalition, National Music Publishers’ Association, Nashville Songwriters Association International, the Recording Academy, the Recording Industry Association of America, the Songwriters of North America, and more have joined forces to develop a website, MusicCovidRelief.com, with guidance and resource materials for those in need in the arts/entertainment community.

With the historic passage of the CARES Act stimulus bill last Friday, the music advocacy organizations recognized the need for the creation of a central resource to help the music community understand and quickly access this critical aid. MusicCovidRelief.com will help people make sense of the bill and showcase solutions and opportunities for those in need, along with downloadable forms and other resources.

In a joint statement, the organizations said: “The music community is extremely grateful for the benefits available to them through the CARES Act. The aid will be most valuable if people can access it in time to meet their needs. This coalition pooled its resources to compile information to assist members of our community, understand who is eligible, and how they access relief. We will continue to update the site as more information becomes available.”

Live Nation Establishes Crew Nation Fund To Support Live Music Crews

Live Nation, the world’s largest concert promoter, announced yesterday (3/31) that it has established a new charitable fund to help support concert crews around the world. The Crew Nation fund will provide monetary support for concert crew members impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, which has canceled concerts, festivals and other live events since it began spreading across the world earlier this year.

Live Nation has committed $10 million to Crew Nation, split between a five million dollar donation directly to the fund and another five million to match contributions by artists, fans and employees dollar-for-dollar. Crew Nation is powered by Music Forward Foundation, a charitable nonprofit organization, that will be administering the fund.

“Concerts wouldn’t be possible without the crew working behind the scenes to bring them to life. To help out live music crews while concerts are on pause, LiveNation has committed $10 million to the #CrewNation,” Live Nation president and CEO Michael Rapino said in an Instagram post Tuesday. In Rapino’s post he reveals his family will personally donate $250,000 to the cause.

Over the next week, Live Nation will be reaching out to crew members from tours across the globe whose income has already been affected due to the cancellation or rescheduling of a Live Nation event. Music Forward Foundation will be selecting recipients based on a determination of need, and the company will be releasing an application for crews across the industry in the coming weeks.

Live Nation has also launched an exclusive Crew Nation merchandise line that includes shirts and sweaters with all the proceeds going straight to the Crew Nation fund. Those products are available for a limited time and can be found here.

Cecilia Castleman Inks With Big Yellow Dog Music

Cecilia Castleman

Cecilia Castleman has signed a publishing deal with Big Yellow Dog Music.

Castleman joins a roster that includes Josh Kear, Jessie James Decker, Meghan Trainor, Logan Mize, Tenille Townes, Daniel Tashian and more.

“All my life I’ve been playing and writing songs,” says Castleman. “I’ve never had a guitar, bass or keyboard lesson — I learned by listening to records and trying to pick up what I could. When I was 16, I took a studio engineering course at The Blackbird Academy so I could track the songs I wrote myself. Every form of art, whether it’s painting or photography, helps me with my music — it helps me create the person I am and who I aspire to be.”

A sample of Castleman’s music, the song, “It’s Alright” can be heard on Big Yellow Dog Music’s Instagram page.
