Weekly Register: CMA Awards Boost Sales

cmaawardsWeek over week album sales received a boost this week following last Wednesday’s CMA Awards, hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. Overall album sales are up 21 percent this week, while Country sales are up 12 percent.
The top five Country albums this week include artists featured in last week’s CMA Awards. Not surprisingly, each album received a sales boost following the awards telecast. Once again, the Robertsons claim the No. 1 spot (No. 3 overall) with Duck The Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas (Universal Music Group Nashville) selling another 72k units (138k RTD).
Luke Bryan’s Crash My Party (Capitol Nashville) comes in at No. 2 (No. 10 overall), selling 31k units this week (1.1 million RTD). Double CMA winners Florida Georgia Line jump to No. 3, with Here’s To The Good Times (Republic Nashville) selling 28k units this week (1.2 million RTD). Blake Shelton’s CMA Award-winning album Based On A True Story (Warner Bros.) climbs to No. 4 (No. 14 overall), selling 20k units this week (up 148 percent) – 12k more than last week (324k RTD). Finally, Kacey Musgraves’ Same Trailer Different Park (Mercury Nashville), jumps 25 spots this week, landing at No. 5 with 15k units sold – a monumental increase (up 567 percent) from last week’s 1.3k units.
A noteworthy debut this week is Various Artists’ Divided and United, debuting at No. 32 with 2.7k units sold. The top overall album is Eminem’s Marshall Mathers LP2, selling whopping 792k units. YTD, overall albums sales are down 6.7 percent, while Country album sales are down 8.3 percent.
albumstracksEric Church’s “The Outsiders” is the top Country track this week (No. 12 overall), selling 79k units (up from 32k last week) with 192k units sold RTD. The singer’s album sales increased 68% this week. Bryan’s “Drink A Beer” is the top Country debut this week, coming in at No. 26 with 44k units sold (69k RTD).
The top overall track is Lorde’s “Royals.” The pop princess sold another 184k units this week (3.3 million RTD). YTD, overall track sales are down four percent, while Country tracks are up 1.4 percent, the same as last week.
Next week’s debuts include Lady Antebellum’s Golden Deluxe (UMG), Kellie Pickler’s The Woman I Am (Black River) and Sammy Kershaw’s Big Hits: Volume 1 (Big Hit Records).
