Eden Joel has inked a global publishing deal with Concord Music Publishing in partnership with independent label, publishing and management company Big Family Music, led by Damon and Julian Bunetta, and Ben and Daniel Parmar. The deal includes Joel’s full catalog and future works.
A Nashville native, Joel’s sound combines indie coastal pop with the Southern music he grew up on. The last three years, Joel traveled around the world as a touring musician, playing Stephen Sanchez, Annie DiRusso, Mercury, Venus and the Fly Traps, Hannah Cole, Briston Maroney and more. In May, he opened for The Greeting Committee before opening for In Color in July.

The track fuses infectious indie pop melodies and clever lyricism. Before the release, the teaser clip on Joel’s socials had racked up over 600,000 views. Upon its release “Deadweight” was featured on Spotify’s “Fresh Finds Indie” playlist with Eden Joel as the featured artist for ‘Fresh Finds’.
This past year has been busy for Eden Joel. In March, he produced and wrote on Annie DiRusso’s debut album Superpedestrian, and released his own debut single, “Deadweight,” in May. This single showcases Joel’s infectious indie pop melodies and clever lyricism, a clear product of years of honing his craft and soaking up his surrounding Music City influences. Prior to the song’s release, Joel had been teasing his unique sound on Instagram Reels, racking up over 600,000 views of his unreleased music. JUST IN: Big Machine Label Group Expands International Team

Big Machine Label Group has elevated four of its staff members in its international division, alongside the addition of one to the team. The all-female team will continue to helm the label’s international efforts across key markets, including the UK, Australia and more.
“From the onset of Big Machine Records, a global focus was a must, and our UK-based team has led the way in building the country format, not only in the UK, but all across Europe,” shares BMLG Founder, Chairman & CEO Scott Borchetta. “They consistently find new ways to expand our footprint and drive revenue with incredible passion, execution and creativity!”
Alex Hannaby has been elevated to VP, International Marketing & Operations, in addition to her role as Head of UK. During her time with the label, Hannaby has played a key role in growing BMLG’s international expansion, especially in the UK. She also created and launched the first official country music radio chart in the UK. She has bolstered singles from Riley Green, Thomas Rhett and Jackson Dean to No. 1 on country radio in the UK and Australia. She also helped Dolly Parton’s Rockstar land in the top 5 chart positions in both the UK and Australia, and helped coordinate Carly Pearce’s upcoming performance at the Opry’s international show.

Roxanne Gwillam-Kelly has been promoted to International Marketing & Promotions Manager. Over the past four years, she has driven innovative campaigns across the globe. In her new role, she will lead projects in the UK and other countries globally.
Flo Myerscough-Harris has been upped to International Marketing & Promotions Manager. She first joined BMLG in 2021, where she has been overseeing projects in the UK. Her new role will now include more international territories.
BMLG has hired Cary Dal-Lago as International Label Intern. She recently graduated from University of Westminster with a Master’s in Music Business Management. During school, she worked with Your Culture developing concert-focused content, including capturing live performances, and curating social media content. At the label, she will assist on all global projects.

Thomas Rhett Readies Deluxe Edition Of ‘About A Woman’
/by Lauryn SinkThomas Rhett is slated to release a deluxe edition of his 2024 album, About A Woman, available on streaming platforms Sept. 26 via The Valory Music Co. The project can be pre-ordered on CD and vinyl ahead of its Oct. 3 physical release exclusively with Amazon.
The album includes 25 tracks, including the brand new “Water,” “Chapter 10” and “On a River.” Previously released additions include collaborations with Jordan Davis, Lanie Gardner, Blake Shelton, Teddy Swims and Tucker Wetmore.
“I can’t even describe the joy I’ve felt this summer,” shares Rhett. “It is unreal how much fans have made this new music part of their lives – they’ve come out to dance and sing along at shows, added favorites to their playlists and tuned in on the radio in a way that I will remember the rest of my life.”

Thelma & James’ Debut Project ‘Starting Over’ To Drop Sept. 19
/by Lorie HollabaughRising duo Thelma & James, (singer-songwriters MacKenzie Porter and Jake Etheridge) are gearing up for the release of their debut EP Starting Over on Sept. 19 via Big Loud Records.
The pair had both forged successful solo careers before collaborating, and their first co-write in over a decade produced the project’s opening song and viral track “Happy Ever After You,” the catalyst for the duo itself. Porter and Etheridge co-wrote every song on Starting Over alongside trusted collaborators including Lonas (who produced the project), Natalie Hemby, Lori McKenna, Josh Osborne and more.
The EP features previously-released songs like “Nostalgic for Nothing,” “Canaries in a Coal Mine,” “Chainsmokin’ Memories” and “First Love.” Starting Over also introduces new songs “Loser,” “Parking Lot Prayers” and “Starting Over” from the married duo.
“We are so excited to announce our very first EP together. These songs came together quickly and creating them felt so effortless,” share Thelma & James. “When we sat down to write back in December, there was no plan beyond getting a few ideas off our chests. We never imagined it would turn into a band, a record deal and now an entire project – but looking back, it feels inevitable.”

NSAI Elevates Three, Adds Two Team Members

The Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) has elevated three team members and added two new members.
Allison Barrett, who joined NSAI in July of 2021, has transitioned from Songwriter Services Coordinator to Chapter Relations Manager, where she will now oversee NSAI’s global network of chapters. Natalie Flynn has stepped into the role of Songwriter Services Coordinator, handling billing, song contest administration and assisting with the annual Member Awards held during Tin Pan South week.
Sarah Arnold, previously in reception, has accepted the role of Songwriter Services Rep where she will meet with existing and prospective members on how to best utilize NSAI’s resources. Lillian Creasy joins the team as the new receptionist.
Maxwell Trotter has been promoted to Senior Songwriter Relations Rep, a role he stepped into in March of 2025.

Anne Rohosy has been appointed Chief Commercial Officer of leading global instrument brand Gibson, Inc.
Rohosy has been a key member of Gibson’s leadership team since 2021, serving as Chief Human Resources and Impact Officer, as well as Managing Director of the Gibson Amplifiers business. During this time, Rohosy has led organizational transformation, championed culture and people strategy, and guided the revitalization of Gibson’s iconic Amplifier division.
In this expanded role as CCO, Rohosy will lead Gibson’s global commercial strategy, overseeing wholesale, direct-to-consumer, and retail channels as the company accelerates its growth and brand presence worldwide.

Avery Roberson has signed a global publishing deal with Sea Gayle Music.
Hailing from Rutherfordton, North Carolina, Roberson blends traditional country storytelling with today’s energy. Roberson first gained traction competing on The Voice. He also earned a cut on Bailey Zimmerman’s Religiously.

The Marcus King Band Family Reunion wrapped another successful weekend of music and fun Aug. 23-24 in North Charleston after being moved from Firefly Distillery to the North Charleston Coliseum due to inclement weather.
The two-day festival was inspired by King’s treks to his great grandparents’ home for front porch pickin’ and covered dishes, and this year featured performances by Jamey Johnson, Molly Tuttle, Marcus King & Friends, Leah Blevins, Pearl, Stephen Wilson, Jr., Hiss Golden Messenger, Joshua Ray Walker, Henry’s Pocket and the Marcus King Band.
Some of the best barbecue in the South was available for sampling as well, with renowned pitmasters All Pro Smoke Show’s Andy Knudson, Will Andrews of Rolling Bones, Aaron Siegel & Taylor Garrigan of Home Team BBQ, and Matt Register of Southern Smoke live fire cooking whole hog, beef ribs, chicken, fish, seafood, coal-roasted root vegetables, and more all weekend long.
$1 from every ticket sold went to the Curfew Fellowship Fund, King’s charity, which provides and assists those struggling with sobriety and addiction, and also helps fund music education.

Earl Scruggs Music Festival Draws Record Turnout To 4th Annual Event

The Earl Scruggs Music Festival wrapped its fourth annual event this weekend, drawing more than double in attendance since last year.
The annual gathering was held on the grounds of Tryon International in Mill Spring, North Carolina. Standout moments included Alison Krauss & Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band serving as the headliners. Joining them was Del McCoury Band, Sam Bush, Watchhouse, The Wood Brothers, The War And Treaty, The Earls of Leicester, Sierra Hull and more.
Outside of the music, fans were treated to seminars, youth showcases, horseback trail rides, bourbon tasting, dance workshops, family-friendly activities, jam sessions and much more.
The festival will return to Tryon International during for Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 4-6) 2026.
Americana Music Association Honors & Awards Reveals Performers & Presenters

The show will also feature appearances by Emmylou Harris and Daniel Lanois, marking the 30th anniversary of the landmark Wrecking Ball album, which was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame this spring.
This year’s Honors & Awards will also feature performances from Darrell Scott, Dawes, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, I’m With Her, JD McPherson, Jesse Welles, Joe Henry, John C. Reilly, Joy Oladokun, Maggie Antone, Maggie Rose, Margo Price, McCrary Sisters, Medium Build, Nathaniel Rateliff, Noeline Hofmann and Old 97’s.
John C. Reilly will host this year’s show, which will include presenters Brandi Carlile, Rodney Crowell, Rosanne Cash, Chuck Prophet, Hayes Carll, Kelsey Waldon, Matt Quinn, S.G. Goodman, Ruston Kelly, Tift Merritt, Ann Powers, Valerie June and William Prince.
The show will stream live via NPR’s YouTube channel and Americana Music Association’s Facebook page on Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m. CT, while live audio simulcasts of the show will be available via SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country, and on Nashville radio stations: WRLT (100.1 FM), WSM (650 AM) and WMOT (89.5 FM). It will also be broadcast in the Austin City Limits time slot in November.
