Lainey Wilson glowed like a bona fide superstar Thursday night (Oct. 2) when she headlined Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena for a sold-out show that felt both larger-than-life and deeply personal.

Rising 15-year-old artist Maddox Batson opened the evening with an acoustic set that showcased his impressive confidence and natural charm, winning over fans young and old. He was followed by independent country duo Muscadine Bloodline, whose blend of tight harmonies and high-energy stage presence earned enthusiastic cheers. Their heartfelt connection to the crowd set the perfect tone for the main event.

When the lights dimmed and Wilson appeared beneath a glowing horseshoe stage piece, the energy inside Bridgestone erupted. She kicked off the night with “Whirlwind,” the title track of her critically acclaimed album and namesake of her “Whirlwind World Tour,” immediately proving why she’s one of country music’s defining stars of the moment.

From the start, Wilson balanced bold confidence with heartfelt storytelling. She delivered firecracker performances of “Hold My Halo,” “Country’s Cool Again” and “Hang Tight Honey,” each met with roaring singalongs. Then she slowed things down, showcasing her powerhouse vocals and emotional range on “4x4xU,” “Heart Like a Truck” and “Watermelon Moonshine,” reminding fans of the vulnerability that underpins her success.

Throughout the show, Wilson’s authenticity radiated—equal parts sass and sincerity. “I have sat in every seat in here,” she told the crowd, pausing to reflect on her journey from small-town Louisiana to country’s biggest stages.

The evening also featured several special guests. Ella Langley joined Wilson for their duet “Good Horses,” ERNEST came out for “Would If I Could” and Jelly Roll brought the house down with a surprise appearance for their hit duet “Save Me.” The arena’s energy hit its peak as the two traded verses to thunderous applause.

One of the most touching moments came when Wilson crowned a young fan the “Cowgirl of the Night.” She presented her with a cowboy hat and a few heartfelt words of encouragement—an emotional gesture that’s become a signature part of her tour and a reflection of Wilson’s genuine connection with her audience.

Another highlight of the night came with the performance of her new single “Somewhere Over Laredo,” complete with a stage lift and flowing cape that gave the song a cinematic sense of grandeur.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Wilson will host the 59th Annual CMA Awards, set for next month at Bridgestone Arena. She also leads this year’s nominees with six nods, including Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year (Whirlwind), further solidifying her status as one of country music’s brightest talents.

Wilson will continue her “Whirlwind World Tour” through the fall, including a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden next Friday (Oct. 10), before heading overseas for an extensive run across Australia and New Zealand in 2026. With each stop, Wilson continues to prove that her rise to superstardom is no fluke—it’s the product of relentless work, undeniable talent, and a heart that beats for the fans who helped her get there.

Nashville-based alternative pop band In Color has signed with Big Loud Rock. To celebrate the signing, the band has released their debut EP Snow Day, out now.

Formed in early 2024, In Color members Holden Clontz, Matthew Hastings, Val Hoyt and Miles Laderman lean on a silent bond sealed by years of friendship and a collective passion for pushing boundaries. They bring dimension to alternative pop, threading unshakable melodies through multi-layered soundscapes.

“We’re so excited to welcome In Color into the Big Loud Rock roster,” shares Big Loud Partner and Big Loud Rock President Joey Moi. “The band’s natural chemistry, clear creative vision, and incredible songwriting make them the real deal. We can’t wait for the world to hear what they’ve been cooking up.”

“For us, it’s always been about the music,” says In Color. “Finding a label that puts the artists first and truly champions the creative process was our top priority. With Big Loud Rock, we’ve found a partner who is just as passionate about the songs as we are. We’re ready to get to work.”

In Color’s debut EP Snow Day features a brand new song “I Want You,” as well as their breakout debut single “Headlights,” (which has amassed over five million global streams across DSPs,) as well as standout tracks “Is There Anyone?” and “Liar.”

“Snow Day has been our journey of exploration and discovery,” explains In Color. “It’s us learning who we are as a collective, weaving our different talents and inspirations into something that feels alive—something that moves us both sonically and lyrically. In creating this music, we’ve found the ground beneath our feet, a place from which we’ll keep reaching, stretching, and growing together.”

In Color is set to support The Band Camino on select dates of their North American tour this fall, which kicks off later this month.

Breakfield Inks With Rounder Records

Breakfield

Folk-rock band Breakfield, formerly Boy Named Banjo, have signed with Rounder Records. The band released their new single under their new name and label, “Canyon Walls,” today (Oct. 3).

“This marks a new chapter for us as we officially take the name Breakfield,” the band shares. “Boy Named Banjo has taken us farther than we ever could have imagined when we started 15 years ago, but over time, we’ve grown and changed in ways that the old name no longer represents. Breakfield carries the spirit of a Tennessee backroad where music, friendship, and adventure came together for us. With this change, we’re stepping forward with a renewed sense of purpose, authenticity to ourselves, and excitement for what’s ahead.”

“From their early days as Boy Named Banjo to their evolution as Breakfield, the band has embodied the heart of American songwriting through authenticity, hard work, and a deep connection to their community,” adds President of Rounder Records, Stephanie Hudacek. “Breakfield remain steadfast, pushing their music forward while staying true to their roots. We couldn’t be prouder to welcome them to the Rounder family.”

Comprised of Barton Davies (banjo/vocals), Ford Garrard (bass/standing bass), Sam McCullough (drums) and William Reames (acoustic guitar/harmonica/vocals), the four-piece band started playing together in high school before moving to Nashville. After busking on the streets of Music City, the band eventually played at Bonnaroo, the Ryman and the Grand Ole Opry.

“Canyon Walls” came to life after burnout and change, eventually leading to the band’s new identity.

“In the fall of 2024, we were completely burned out – though at the time, we were afraid to admit it. We knew we needed a big change, some sort of spark,” says the band. “Around that time, we wrote ‘Canyon Walls’ without realizing that we were the ones that needed to hear it. This song is all about holding on to hope and rediscovering yourself. It was one of the first songs we brought to Sadler [Vaden] at the beginning of this year, and we made demos of each of them out at his place. I remember driving home with William after a session with Sadler and excitedly listening back to all the demos we’d made. Halfway kidding I said, ‘man, what if we changed our name?’ The lightbulb went off, and there was no looking back. It didn’t take us long to land on Breakfield. ‘Canyon Walls’ was the spark.”
