Nashville-based organization Love From Music City recently hosted their 10th Annual event. “A Very Merry Music City Christmas” welcomed over 150 Sumner County foster children. This year’s event included live entertainment from country music artists Shane Owens and JD Shelburne, as well as carnival games and a visit from Santa.
The entire second floor of the building was transformed into a huge toy store where each child, ages 0-18, was able to choose five items of their choice. They also received eleven essential items, such as a new pillow, pillowcase, blanket, gloves, a coat, shoes, backpack, socks, toiletries, and a stuffed animal.
“Unfortunately, this December has brought some devastating life events. However, I can still say it is more blessed to give than receive,” shares CFO Shanda Tripp. “I found myself still filled with joy as I witnessed the children enjoying their amazing Christmas. Then knowing this was our 10th year made it even more special. Thank you to our community of donors and superstar volunteers, you are truly the best!”
“A Very Merry Music City Christmas” was made possible through funds received throughout the year and the Love From Music City’s annual gala which raised over $35,000 in donations.

Martina McBride & Father Daryl Schiff Collaborate On New ‘Satisfied’ Project
/by Lorie HollabaughMartina McBride is returning to her roots on her father Daryl Schiff‘s new record, Satisfied, available everywhere now. McBride produced the new project, which also features her brother Marty Schiff.
The father-daughter duo, along with Marty, came together for the 15-song collection, which includes two covers from Martina, three by Marty, and family harmonies throughout.
Daryl has been a lifelong musician who started the family band, The Schiffters, where Martina and Marty first learned to play and sing.
“I chose the songs that I could relate to from the things that have happened in my life,” says Daryl. “You need to be able to relate to and feel the song to sing it with emotion.”
“Getting to record this album with my dad after hearing him sing literally for my whole life was such a blessing,” adds McBride. “Singing with my brother, hearing our voices blend with his, is really special. Dad sings in such an authentic way. You cannot teach or fake the kind of country singing he does. It comes from a lifetime of loving it and all of the influences he has heard all of his life. The emotion he conveys isn’t some singer’s ‘trick.’ It is real. There were several times I teared up hearing him sing in the studio. I’m so grateful for this musical treasure we will have forever and excited to share it with my fans.”
McBride has been busy this holiday season on the road during her annual “Joy of Christmas Tour.” In 2021, the multi-Platinum entertainer also celebrated thirty years in the industry and her own exhibit in the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. Purple Heart Recipient Inspires Song of Hope With CreatiVets’ December Release
/by Lorie HollabaughNashville-based nonprofit CreatiVets and Big Machine Label Group have shared their new song, “I’m With You,” as part of the year-long campaign to release a veteran-written track on the 20th of every month—paying tribute to the 20 veterans and active-duty members that commit suicide every single day.
Written by Purple Heart veteran Adam Mitchell and his mentor Greg Pihs, alongside songwriters Brian Davis and Joel Shewmake, the track is a product of CreatiVets’ songwriting program, which pairs combat veterans with Nashville songwriters to help them learn to use music as a form of therapy.
Since sustaining several injuries to the head and neck while serving overseas in 2005, Mitchell has struggled with communication, memory and balance, and continues to navigate the difficulties of post-traumatic stress. Going into the program, he knew he wanted to write a song about his children. As a result, “I’m With You” became a message not only to his kids, but to the thousands of military families awaiting the return of their loved ones.
“I found Creativets on accident while looking for a veteran-based music learning program,” Mitchell shares. “I’ve always loved playing along to other people’s songs, but I never thought of writing my own for fear of being vulnerable… Since my experience with Creativets, I have gotten over the fear of showing who I am.”
Since 2013, CreatiVets has helped more than 1,000 combat veterans, with over 500 of them participating in its songwriting programs. Big Machine Label Group continues to contribute to CreatiVets through Scott and Sandi Borchetta‘s Music Has Value Fund and through Big Machine Music, which serves as the nonprofit’s co-publisher.

Supporters attended a Patron Party on Tuesday, Dec. 7, which was hosted and underwritten by Founder, President and CEO of Big Machine Scott Borchetta and his wife Sandi.
The evening was followed by a fundraising concert on Dec. 11, only one day after the Symphony’s 75th anniversary. At the concert, the orchestra musicians were awarded the annual Harmony Award, presented by 2013 winner and country music icon Brad Paisley.
This year’s Symphony Ball was a full-length concert featuring world-renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman. The concert’s program also showcased the orchestra’s commitment to contemporary American repertoire, including: Carlos Simon’s The Block, Kenji Bunch’s Groovebox Fantasy, and Joan Tower’s Made in America, the last of which was featured on the Nashville Symphony’s Grammy-winning 2007 recording.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have reached this fundraising goal of $1 million! I want to thank everyone who has supported the Symphony during this season and throughout its history,” says Lisa Manning, the 2021 Symphony Ball Chair.
“The funds raised each year by the Symphony Ball are essential to our serving Nashville and Middle Tennessee with a variety of musical and educational programs. We humbly thank each of this year’s supporters,” adds Alan D. Valentine, president & CEO of the Nashville Symphony.
