The Core Entertainment Signs Nickelback
/by LB CantrellNickelback
The Core Entertainment, the management company founded by Kevin “Chief” Zaruk and Simon Tikhman, has signed multi-Platinum rock band Nickelback.
With a presence in Nashville, Los Angeles and Toronto, Nickelback joins a roster that includes Grammy-winning pop artist Emily Weisband, soulful country singer Nate Smith, genre-bending country duo After Midtown, alt pop band Valley, country singer-songwriter Bailey Zimmerman, and more.
The move reunites Zaruk with the band, after he began his career as Nickelback’s tour manager before helping start Big Loud in 2011.
“It really is a full circle moment and feels amazing,” Zaruk tells MusicRow. “We never stopped being friends and always stayed in touch, so it feels really natural to jump back into it. It was also exciting to bring into the fold my business partner Simon as well as the rest of our team at The Core.”
According to Zaruk, Nickelback has plans to get to work on a new album, tour and documentary.
“We are going to be releasing a lot of new stuff coming up this year setting us up for next year, so without giving too much away it’s going to be a lot of fun,” he says. “Plus we will keep expanding and working global territories and playing places they have never been.”

Jimmie Allen Announces Third Project ‘Tulip Drive’ Set For June
/by Lorie HollabaughJimmie Allen. Photo: Shea Flynn
Fresh off of his appearance at last night’s 64th Annual Grammy Awards, Jimmie Allen announced he’ll release his third Stoney Creek Records/BBR Music Group album, Tulip Drive, on June 24. The lead single from the record, “Down Home,” is available everywhere now.
Like his previous projects, the album’s title has a personal meaning for Allen and family ties. Tulip Drive is the name of the street his late grandmother grew up on. Similarly, his 2018 debut album Mercury Lane was named for the street Allen grew up on, and his 2020 and 2021 releases, Bettie James & Bettie James Gold Edition, were named for his grandmother (Bettie Snead) and father (James “Big Jim” Allen).

“A lot of the songs on this album are from that time period. This is the first album where a lot of the songs are actually written based off a lot of my own personal life experiences–from relationships, the hardships of life, to the parties and the good times,” Allen shares. “A lot of these songs are based off things I went through when I was in later in high school and college, at a place where I was just learning a lot of life lessons from my grandmother. I wanted to honor her by naming this album Tulip Drive, after the street she lived on in Lewes, Delaware.”
Allen was nominated for Best New Artist at last night’s 64th annual Grammy Awards, and attended the show for the first time in addition to performing “Down Home” and presenting multiple categories during the premiere ceremony. He also performed the song at the Recording Academy Honors, presented by the Black Music Collective, on April 2 and appeared throughout the weekend at the 31st annual MusiCares Person of the Year Benefit Gala, Spotify’s Best New Artist celebration, and at a panel for I AM Musicology Presents: Road to the Grammys.
Allen is currently on the “Down Home Tour,” which kicked off with a sold-out start earlier this year. For a full list of upcoming dates, click here.

Eric Church Responds To Backlash Following The Cancelation Of San Antonio Concert
/by LB CantrellPictured: Eric Church performs to a record-setting crowd of 56,521 fans at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium on May 25, 2019. Photo: John Shearer
When country superstar Eric Church canceled his April 2 concert at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas earlier this week, a wave of angry fans aired out their grievances with the entertainer on social media.
Church canceled his “Gather Again Tour” stop in order to support his home state basketball team, the North Carolina Tar Heels, in an NCAA Final Four game scheduled for that same night. In a letter to ticket-holders, Church said that watching his beloved Tar Heels play the Duke Blue Devils in the Final Four was “any sports enthusiast’s dream.” He wrote that calling off the concert four days before showtime was “the most selfish thing” he had ever asked of his fans. Tickets were refunded.
Ticket-holders and Church fans have debated on social media since news broke about the cancelation as to if Church’s reasoning for canceling the show was honorable or not, as the entertainer is known for having a fans-first approach. In fact, his recent triple album contained a disc only available to his fan-club, the Church Choir.
But days after canceling the San Antonio show, Church has responded to his fans in a social media message posted on Friday (April 1). Church let ticket-holders know that they will be able to attend a “one of a kind free show” on Sept. 2 at Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels, Texas, an hour away from San Antonio.
“Thank you for letting me take my family to this game,” Church writes. “It took a minute to figure out how and when I could properly express my thanks. I will be coming to Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels, Texas on Friday, September 2, 2022 for a ONE of a kind FREE show for those of you who bought tickets and were planning to attend our cancelled San Antonio show. Details to be announced soon.”
