‘The Ty Bentli Show’ Teams With Dierks Bentley For 100,000 Thank Yous Drive

The Ty Bentli Show morning show team with Commanding Officer Captain Tim Kinsella

The Ty Bentli Show has officially begun its annual quest for “100,000 Thank Yous” for deployed members of the U.S. armed services, with the help of listeners and Dierks Bentley. Each year, the show encourages its listeners to write a thank-you note that will be sent to deployed members of the U.S. armed services as a reminder of how highly we regard the brave people who put on a uniform and work to sustain our freedom. This year’s campaign for “100,000 Thank Yous” campaign kicked off on Monday, Nov. 4 and the show will celebrate this year’s partnership with Dierks Bentley with a party on Friday morning, Nov. 8, as it broadcasts live from Bentley’s Whiskey Row in Nashville.

This year, The Ty Bentli Show went next level to launch the nationwide effort, loading up the whole crew in Nashville and traveling to Naval Air Station Pensacola, the home of the Blue Angels. Ty, Tricia “TJ” Jenkins, Chuck Wicks and Bryan the Webb Guy broadcasted live on Nov. 4 from the award-winning galley at NAS, and the morning’s guests included NATTCE Commanding Officer Tommy Decker, and Naval Air Station Commander, Captain Tim Kinsella. The team also took the opportunity to invite a new class of active duty men and women on the air throughout the show, to discuss what it means to them to see thousands of strangers thanking them for the path they’ve chosen to follow in their lives.

Miranda Lambert paid a visit to the show on Nov. 5, contributing her own personal “Thank You” to the cause, and then telling Ty and the team about the important role that early military fans played in the story of her career.

In years past, “100,000 Thank Yous” has seen support from country superstars like Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban and Garth Brooks.

Taylor Swift has announced she will perform a free concert in Atlanta as part of NCAA’s March Madness tournament. On April 5, 2020, Swift will headline the Capitol One JamFest at Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park, marking her first non-Lover Fest show of 2020.

“We’re thrilled to have Taylor Swift perform as the headliner for the closing night of the March Madness Music Festival,” NCAA Senior Vice President of Basketball Dan Gavitt said in a statement. “This will be one of many great events for fans during Final Four weekend, from the opening of Final Four Fan Fest presented by Capital One on Friday morning, through the semifinals to the National Championship celebration on Monday night.”

Capitol One JamFest’s additional performers will be announced in coming weeks. The event has previously featured headliners including Katy Perry, the Dave Matthews Band, Sting, Maroon 5, and more. Details on tickets for the free event have not been released.

In September, Swift announced a pair of two-day stadium concerts for 2020–titled Lover Fest East and Lover Fest West–following the release of Lover, her first album under her new label home Universal Music Group. Lover Fest West is set for July 25-26 at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, while Lover Fest East is set for July 31-Aug. 1 at Foxborough, Massachusetts’ Gillette Stadium. Both festivals have sold out.

Swift will become the first female artist in history to open an NFL stadium, when she performs at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

EmiSunshine To Receive ASCAP Foundation Desmond Child Anthem Award In New York

Teen country and Americana singer-songwriter EmiSunshine has been selected as the 2019 recipient of The ASCAP Foundation Desmond Child Anthem Award. The award, which recognizes promising young musical artists, will be presented at The ASCAP Foundation Honors on Wednesday, Dec. 11 in New York City.

The event will also honor high school and college scholarship recipients and other music creators, including multi-Platinum recording artist, songwriter and social justice activist Natalie Merchant, who will receive The ASCAP Foundation Champion Award, and Francisco Núñez, composer, conductor, artistic director and founder of the Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC), who will accept The ASCAP Foundation Life in Music Award.

The Desmond Child Anthem Award was established by Grammy award-winning songwriter and producer Desmond Child as part of his ManUp4Kids program, which provides low-income families with opportunities to attend music, theater and other cultural events in their communities.

“I’m honored to be selected for this award,” EmiSunshine said. “The arts allow us to express what we as humans have to give of ourselves that no one else can. If children are not exposed to the arts, they will miss out on what they could bring into this world by creating, writing, imagining, dreaming, dancing, painting, drawing. All artful creations begin on the inside and are only allowed out through hope. Giving the kids arts programs blooms hope for a lifetime to come.”

15-year-old Emi started writing songs with her mother, Alisha Hamilton, at the age of five in their East Tennessee home. The mother-daughter creative team still collaborate, with Emi now also writing with acclaimed songwriters in Nashville, including Jim Lauderdale, Vicky McGehee, and others. Her album, Family Wars, addresses such topics as domestic violence, mass murder, dysfunctional families, political corruption, and freedom in America; and was produced by Grammy-winning producer Tony Brown.

PLA Media Unveils First Music Row Interpretive Sign

Pam Lewis, president and founder of PLA Media, has unveiled a detailed interpretive historical sign outside the PLA offices on Music Row that illustrates the grave importance and growing concerns of this historical-cultural area.  The interpretive sign stems from the “Save Music Row” movement spear-headed by Lewis, hoping to keep intact a society that has promoted decades worth of talent. The black and white “Save Music Row” signs now dot the streets on 16th and 17th Avenue.

Lewis has been working with National Trust, preservationists, city council, the mayor, concerned citizens and the planning department to consider a sensitive and strategic long-range plan for preserving Music Row’s historic assets. Further, she serves as a founding member of the Music Row Preservation Trust under the umbrella of Historic Nashville Inc.

“Just the other day a couple from Chile and a songwriter from Spain stopped to read the sign. People are curious about our history. Shouldn’t we be concerned with preserving it?” Lewis says.

With the extensive amount of destruction and commercial growth, Music Row has seen over 50 buildings been torn down and replaced with mostly non-music related businesses like condos, hotels and apartments and other businesses. Lewis has formed a non-profit Music Row Preservation Trust, asking to be named a National Cultural District.

Those interested in getting an interpretive sign or for more information about how to get involved with the “Save Music Row” movement, visit plamedia.com.

IBMA’s World Of Bluegrass, Wide Open Bluegrass Festival Sees Largest Economic Impact To-Date

The International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IBMA) World of Bluegrass, presented by Chiesi USA, and PNC presents Wide Open Bluegrass festival saw a combined attendance of 218,301 in their seventh year in Raleigh. This year’s festivities also generated $18.65 million in direct economic impact within Wake County, the highest single-year total yet according to figures released today by the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau (Visit Raleigh).

The events held from Sept. 24-28, 2019 included: the three-day IBMA Business Conference and Music Expo, the International Bluegrass Music Awards Show, Bluegrass Ramble and the two-day festival, which also included the North Carolina Pork Council’s 2019 Whole Hog Barbecue State Championship. Notably, the $18.65 million is a conservative estimate that does not include locals’ spending, nor does it include a multiplier of indirect or induced impacts. It represents tourism economic impact only, which is new money coming into the local economy.

A new format was implemented this year for the PNC presents Wide Open Bluegrass festival, allowing all shows at Red Hat Amphitheater to be open to the public for free. This marked the first time all eight stages and 100+ live performances during the PNC presents Wide Open Bluegrass Festival were available for free.

“It is gratifying to see our close partnership with Raleigh continue to benefit both the bluegrass music community and the Greater Raleigh area in many ways. We are proud to see our new ‘Mission Forward’ model successfully make the festival more accessible to everyone in year one,” said IBMA Executive Director Paul Schiminger. “As we’ve said all along, we will continue to fine-tune and evolve the festival so that it keeps pace with the growing needs of the increasingly large and diverse bluegrass community.”

“This year’s increase in economic impact can be attributed in large part to a five percent increase in overnight visitation,” said Loren Gold, executive vice president of the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau (Visit Raleigh) and tri-chair of the Raleigh Local Organizing Committee. “This is great news as it shows the event continues to draw more visitors from around the world each year and is truly the signature event for Raleigh we felt it could become from day one.”

With more than 218,000 attendees this year it’s still the largest multi-day festival held in Greater Raleigh annually. Last year, the IBMA and Raleigh Local Organizing Committee announced a three-year extension to keep the event in Raleigh, N.C. through 2021.
