Twisselman took the stage during the milestone moment to perform “King & Queen of Recklessness” and “Ghost In My Head,” both featured on her debut EP Growing in Grace, which was released Dec. 5. Twisselman’s family was in attendance for the milestone debut, including her grandmother, who boarded a flight for the first time in nearly 40 years to be there after promising Twisselman she would make the trip if she ever performed at the Opry, a lifelong bucket-list dream for the artist.

In 2025, Twisselman’s career reached new heights as she collaborated with Dolly Parton, Jessie James Decker and Maddie & Tae on “Gonna Be You,” featured in the long-form interview “God, Family & Show Business,” which has garnered over 800,000 views to date. She was also featured on the My Little Pony: A New Generation soundtrack with the song “Together.” Looking ahead to 2026, Twisselman is working on new music and is set to open for Parton during her Las Vegas Residency in September.

UMG & Splice To Collaborate On Next Generation Of AI-Powered Music Creation Tools

Screenshot

Universal Music Group and the creation platform Splice are collaborating on the next generation of AI-powered music creation tools for musical artists.

The two companies are building a roadmap for development of commercial AI tools, and the artist-centric agreement builds on Splice’s suite of AI-enabled creator tools, which continue to respect intellectual property, and combine high-quality creative ingredients. The partnership will also explore AI-powered virtual instruments and tools that enable UMG artists to bring their own sounds into Splice’s AI workflows, and UMG artists are expected to play a crucial role in guiding the product development process.

“We’re excited to form this alliance with Splice to promote the alignment of innovation and ethicality in addressing the interests of the creative community to leverage cutting-edge AI-enabled tools to further their artistic expression,” says Michael Nash, EVP & Chief Digital Officer, Universal Music Group. “We look forward to partnering with Kakul Srivastava and her team on this critically important strategic technology front.”

“We’ve spent time building AI tools designed to fairly compensate creators and keep them in control,” says Kakul Srivastava, CEO of Splice. “We’re thankful for Universal’s continued support, and excited to work together to put these commercial tools in the hands of artists everywhere, knowing they can trust the end result.”

In June of 2024, Splice joined UMG and other industry figures to sign the “Principles for Music Creation with AI,”  a series of clarifying statements relating to the responsible use of AI in music creation, advocating for ethical, transparent AI that empowers human creators rather than replacing them. Over the past year, Splice has built deeply embedded workflows across digital audio workstations, including Ableton and Pro Tools, and launched a growing suite of AI-native tools grounded in artist-centered monetization, governance, and creative control. With the acquisition of Spitfire Audio, Splice expanded its reach to professional composers cementing its position as one of the most trusted platforms for music creation.

Terri Clark Honored With Appointment To The Order Of Canada

Terri Clark. Photo: Phil Crozier

Terri Clark has received one of her home country’s highest honors, the Order of Canada, recognizing her achievements, dedication to the community and service to the nation.

Presented by the Governor General of Canada, the achievement recognizes people across all sectors of society who have made extraordinary and sustained contributions to Canada. The Order of Canada stands as the cornerstone of the Canadian Honors System, and since its creation in 1967, more than 8,250 trailblazers from all sectors of society have been appointed to the Order.

“The Order of Canada fosters a sense of pride and cohesion in our country,” says Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada. “Every appointment celebrates not only the talent, expertise and dedication of individuals, but also the countless lives they have touched through their work, vision and contributions. Their commitment extends beyond borders, inspiring progress in our communities, our country and around the world. I offer my heartfelt congratulations to each new appointee on this well‑deserved recognition.”

“When I was a young girl growing up in Alberta, with my sights set on the Grand Ole Opry and the CMA, my mother would often talk about one honor being head and shoulders above the rest… the Order of Canada,” shares Clark. “The highest honor our country can bestow upon a civilian. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to see so many dreams and wishes come true in my life, but this one is for her. To be included among the likes of Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, Anne Murray, k.d. lang and so many more is truly humbling. As a proud Canadian, I can’t thank the Governor General of Canada enough for this appointment.”

Clark has made history in both her home country and the U.S., cementing her mark in country music across borders. She was the first Canadian female member of the Grand Ole Opry, and still holds the honor today. She has also been inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, and was most recently inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame – joining Joni Mitchell, Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morissette, Neil Young, Shania Twain and more in another of Canada’s highest honors.

She wrapped up 2025 on the road with fellow country artist Paul Brandt on their co-headlining acoustic “Homecoming 2.0. Tour,” visiting 34 cities coast-to-coast across Canada.

Rewind: MusicRow’s Top Stories Of 2025

As 2025 comes to a close, Nashville’s music industry finds itself reflecting on a year defined by momentum, movement and meaningful change. From blockbuster touring announcements and historic chart milestones to executive shakeups and brand evolutions, the year delivered a steady stream of headlines that reshaped how the business looks, sounds and operates. Country’s reach continued to expand on a global scale, while Music City remained firmly at the center of some of the industry’s most consequential conversations.

Much of the year was marked by transformation at the highest levels. UMG Nashville reintroduced itself to the market as Music Corporation of America (MCA), appointing Mike Harris and Dave Cobb to lead a newly restructured organization. Warner Music Nashville followed suit, rebranding as Warner Records Nashville and naming Cris Lacy as President, while Austen Adams stepped into the role of President at Warner Chappell Music Nashville. Together, these moves signaled a broader recalibration across major companies, underscoring how leadership and identity continue to evolve in a rapidly shifting business.

At the same time, 2025 brought moments that reminded the industry of its human core. The passing of Warner Chappell Nashville President & CEO Ben Vaughn sent a shockwave through the community. Elsewhere, continued layoffs at CMT raised questions about the future of the long-standing platform.

Below is a look back at some of the year’s biggest MusicRow stories: the moves, milestones and moments that defined 2025 on Music Row and beyond.

Since 2002, the MusicRow CountryBreakout Radio Chart has crowned No. 1 songs in the secondary country radio marketplace. In 2025, across 50 chart weeks, 27 songs earned the distinction of reaching the top spot. MusicRow congratulates each artist, songwriter and label for their accomplishments this year.

For the third consecutive year, Morgan Wallen led the MusicRow chart with the most No. 1 hits in 2025, tallying three: “Just In Case,” the two-week No. 1 “I’m The Problem” and the six-week No. 1 “I Got Better.” Blake Shelton, Riley Green, Zach Top and Ella Langley each earned two No. 1s, with Langley also appearing as a featured artist on Green’s No. 1 hit “Don’t Mind If I Do.”

Wallen also posted the longest-running No. 1 of the year, as “I Got Better” held the top position from Sept. 5 through Oct. 10. Green’s “Worst Way” followed closely behind with five weeks at No. 1, while Scotty McCreery and Hootie & The Blowfish’s “Bottle Rockets” spent four weeks atop the chart.

Two artists reached No. 1 on the MusicRow radio chart for the first time in 2025. Top achieved the feat twice with “I Never Lie” and “Good Times & Tan Lines,” while John Morgan earned his first chart-topper with “Friends Like That,” featuring Jason Aldean.
