Mickey Guyton To Perform On ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’

In September, Mickey Guyton released her EP Bridges, filled with powerful, vulnerable songs including “Black Like Me” and “What Are You Gonna Tell Her?.” That same month, Guyton offered a stunning rendition of “What Are You Gonna Tell Her?” at the Academy of Country Music Awards, and last week, she earned a shoutout from CMA’s Female Vocalist of the Year winner Maren Morris.

Tomorrow (Nov. 19), Guyton will perform “Salt,” another track from her EP Bridges, on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Guyton co-wrote all six tracks on her EP, including “Salt,” which she penned with Jesse Frasure, Cary Barlowe, and Steven Lee Olsen.

On the swirling, smoldering track, Guyton tries to warn the listener of a woman who will do whatever it takes to get ahead.

Yeah, she’ll break your heart Like it doesn’t matter/Yeah, she’ll play the part Just to climb the ladder/She’s got you blind but I see it all/You think you’re getting sugar But boy, you’re getting salt.

“We’re in an industry where there are beautiful women that work with producers that use their bodies and their beauty to get opportunities. That song’s just like, ‘Be careful, that is a real thing.’” Guyton previously told MusicRow Magazine about the track.

Guyton is also set to perform a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love” on tonight’s “Stand Up For Heroes” event, airing at 9 p.m. ET on ABC News Live, TikTok, Facebook Watch, Cheddar, Twitch and Armed Forces Network.

Steve Earle & The Dukes To Honor Justin Townes Earle With New Album, ‘J.T.,’ Set For January

Steve Earle & The Dukes will honor Earle’s late son, musician Justin Townes Earle, on the upcoming album, J.T. The album will release Jan. 4, 2021, on what would have been Justin’s 39th birthday. Justin Townes Earle died Aug. 20, 2020 in Nashville.

On the project, Steve Earle and the Dukes cover 10 of Justin’s songs, including “Harlem River Blues,” which earned Song of the Year at the 2011 Americana Music Awards, following Justin’s win in the Emerging Artist of the Year category in 2009. The album closes with “Last Words,” a song Steve Earle wrote for Justin.

All of the artist advances and royalties from the album will be donated to a trust for Etta St. James Earle, Justin and Jenn Earle’s three-year-old daughter. Following the album’s January release, CD and vinyl editions will be available on March 19, 2021.

“The record is called J.T. because Justin was never called anything else until he was nearly grown. Well, when he was little, I called him Cowboy,” explains Steve Earle. “For better or worse, right or wrong, I loved Justin Townes Earle more than anything else on this earth. That being said, I made this record, like every other record I’ve ever made… for me. It was the only way I knew to say goodbye.”

Warehouse West Entertainment Inks Development, Management Deal With TracieLynn

Warehouse West Entertainment has signed TracieLynn to its artist development and management roster. TracieLynn’s single, “99 Bottles,” will release Nov. 20.

Producer and Warehouse West Entertainment partner Luke Wooten says, “We are incredibly excited to help deliver Tracie’s brand of rowdy, raucous country music to listeners, and ’99 Bottles’ delivers on all fronts. Tracie’s energy and passion are infectious not only in her music, but also in her ability to connect with fans even during an extremely difficult time to do so.”

“What I love about ’99 Bottles’ is that its lyrics are fun, refreshing, and not necessarily expected from a female artist,” says TracieLynn. “But that’s why I decided to grab it by the reins and turn it into something that’s mine. I want it to serve as an inspiration to other rising female country artists, to show that we don’t need to fit into any specific mold.”

TracieLynn has also solidified deals with Gateway Bronco and Star Master Coaches and has had a No. 1 on Radio Disney Country with her single “Good Kind of Crazy.”

Tim McGraw, Thomas Rhett, Kelsea Ballerini, Gabby Barrett, Dan + Shay, Florida Georgia Line, Lady A, Little Big Town, and Darius Rucker with Lindsey Stirling will take the stage for a spirited night of festive classics on the upcoming CMA Country Christmas special airing Nov. 30 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

The performers join hosts Thomas Rhett and wife Lauren Akins on the 11th annual musical holiday celebration, which was filmed for the first time without a live audience this past September.

“The idea for this year’s show was to do a throwback of the great Christmas specials of the 1960s and 1970s,” says Robert Deaton, CMA Country Christmas Executive Producer. “Andy Williams, Perry Como, Bing Crosby, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra all had classic Christmas specials where the viewer was invited into the homes of the host to celebrate the holiday like a best friend coming to visit. That was what we wanted to create for this year’s show. Instead of a big flashy production, we took a page from those iconic specials to say, ‘Come relax, and let’s celebrate the holidays together.’”

Dolly Parton’s $1 Million Donation To Vanderbilt Helps Fund Leading COVID-19 Vaccine

In April, Dolly Parton donated $1 million to COVID-19 research at Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center. That donation has partially funded research that has helped biotechnology company Moderna develop one of the current leading COVID-19 vaccines, which has proven to be 94.5% effective.

The New England Journal of Medicine listed the Dolly Parton COVID-19 Research Fund from Vanderbilt as among the supporters of the vaccine. Moderna has stated it could potentially produce 1 billion doses of the vaccine by the end of 2021 and is applying for Emergency Use Authorization with the US Food and Drug Administration.

“My longtime friend Dr. Naji Abumrad, who’s been involved in research at Vanderbilt for many years, informed me that they were making some exciting advancements towards research of the coronavirus for a cure,” Parton said of the donation back in April via Twitter. “I am making a donation of $1 million to Vanderbilt towards that research and to encourage people that can afford it to make donations.”

The donation is just one of many of Parton’s philanthropical efforts. She launched the Imagination Library in 1995; the program has since gifted more than 135 million books to children and is currently gifting books to 1.5 million children around the world each month. In 2017, Parton donated $3 million to those affected by wildfires in her home county of Sevier County, Tennessee, also raised funds via the Smoky Mountains Rise telethon, and provided $1,000 each month to Sevier County families whose primary residences were destroyed by the fires.
