Cumulus Nashville Hosting 13th Annual Toy Field On Dec. 8

Cumulus Media Nashville is building a toy field for The Salvation Army’s Forgotten Angels on Dec. 8 at Nissan Stadium. Middle Tennesseans are invited to come out from 6 a.m.- 7 p.m. on Tuesday to donate and help fulfill the dreams of many less fortunate children this holiday season.

The 13th Annual Toy Field presented by Cumulus Nashville and T-Mobile will offer curbside donation available along S. Second Street adjacent to Nissan Stadium. This holiday, the Salvation Army will reach more angels than ever – less fortunate children and the elderly. According to Major Ethan Frizzell, Area Commander – The Salvation Army Nashville Area Command, several hundred of those “angels” may not be adopted or will be returned to the Angel Tree. To ensure each child has a special Christmas, the Christmas Joy Shop will provide them with gifts.

“Thousands of toys have been donated throughout the years and we hope to see the same enthusiasm this year. We would not be able to provide for all these children, without the support of Cumulus Broadcasting and our community,” said Major Frizzell, Area Commander The Salvation Army Nashville Area Command.

Lightning 100 Launches Save Our Airwaves Campaign

While the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns have put many touring-related companies in dire straits over the past several months, other segments of the music industry are also being affected.

Local Nashville radio station Lightning 100 is in jeopardy of shutting down and has launched the Save Our Airwaves campaign, seeking to raise $250,000 to cover costs to keep the station running into 2021.

The Save Our Airwaves Campaign, hosted at lightning100.com/saveourairwaves, will take place Monday, Dec. 7 through Friday, Dec. 11, and will feature a variety of ways for fans of the station to contribute, including donating, advertising, bidding in the Save Our Airwaves Auction (which will feature signed memorabilia from Alabama Shakes, EmmyLou Harris, Patty Griffin, Susan Tedeschi, Steve Earle, Local Natives, Moon Taxi, and more), purchasing merchandise, or buying a recurring membership, via Lightning 100’s Backstage Pass. In this Beta version of the program, members will have the opportunity to access exclusive content while directly contributing to the ongoing success of Lightning 100. Perks include an HQ digital stream of 100.1 with reduced commercials, access to monthly DJ playlists, on-air shoutouts, and interaction with artists heard on Lightning 100.

Lightning 100 President Lester Turner said, “Lightning 100 has built a niche by advertising to restaurants, venues and events. COVID-19 has dealt a crushing blow to these businesses. With no customers, they have no revenue and cannot afford to advertise—which means that a major part of our revenue dries up. We need you to help keep the lights on until we can all get together again. Please help support Nashville’s independent radio!”

After releasing a rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” that has earned more than 44 million views across various social platforms, 21-year-old Nashville-based pop artist Lanie Gardner has signed a management deal with Jonas Group Entertainment and a label deal with Republic Records.

“There are times when you find a new artist and it is more than an introduction, it is an arrival. Lanie is one of those rare artists who turns heads, lifts the spirit, and inspires people at the deepest level,” said Jonas Group Entertainment Founder/CEO and talent manager Kevin Jonas, Sr. “Her cover of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Dreams’ has ignited everyone listening and allowed the world to see a truly gifted new artist hit the scene. Dolly Parton Kicks Off Jingle Challenge For Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital At Vanderbilt

Dolly Parton proves she is the total embodiment of the Christmas spirit as she continues to give back and spread hope and cheer during this holiday season. Today, she kicked off a virtual “Jingle Challenge” for Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt on her Facebook and Instagram pages, encouraging fans to spread messages of hope, with a goal of 10,000 holiday messages to children and staff at the Nashville children’s hospital.

Artists Blake Shelton, Lauren Alaina, Jon Pardi, Rascal Flatts, Lady A, Abby Anderson, Travis Denning, and more will join Dolly this month to participate in the Jingle Challenge. Starting today, individuals nationwide can customize a photo with Dolly on Santa’s sleigh in the Hannah Dennison Butterfly Garden located inside the children’s hospital and send a message to patients, families and staff. The butterfly garden was renamed in 2018 in honor of and dedicated to Dolly’s niece Hannah Dennison, a survivor of childhood cancer who received her care at Children’s Hospital.

Participants can download and share their special photo with Dolly to their social media pages to help spread awareness and call on others to participate in the challenge. In addition to being featured on the Jingle Challenge landing page, fans around the world can also find the virtual postcard via Dolly’s own ‘Dolly Digital Sleigh’ campaign.

“Knowing that kids at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt will get to see how many people across the world are thinking of them this holiday season makes my heart happy,” said Parton. “You know, The Hannah Dennison Butterfly Garden is something we dedicated a few years back, so I know adding this picture of hope to our Dolly Digital Sleigh campaign will be a blessing to all the families.”

When individuals participate in the challenge by sending a message to the children’s hospital, they will receive a special image to post to their social channels to show that they’ve joined the challenge.

“We are so grateful to Dolly, all the participating artists and our larger community for virtually delivering messages of encouragement and support to our children, their families and our amazing staff,” said Meg Rush, MD, MMHC, President of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. “It is heartwarming to know that during this holiday season our hospital is wrapped in the caring spirit of our community, which serves as the foundation of the work we do every day as we provide hope and healing to children and families all year round.”

Taylor Swift Shares Re-Recorded Snippet Of “Love Story”

Taylor Swift has given fans a sneak peek at her re-recording of her 2008 hit “Love Story,” by including the new recording in a Match.com advertisement featuring a wholly appropriate “match”: Satan and the year 2020.

Swift shared the advertisement, which features a snippet of the newly-recorded version of “Love Story,” on social media, and noted that Ryan Reynolds chose to include the clip in the advertisement, which is produced by his production company Maximum Effort.

“Okay so while my new re-records are NOT done, my friend @VancityReynolds asked me if he could use a snippet of one for a LOLsome commercial he wrote so…here’s a sneak peak of Love Story!” Swift told fans via Twitter on Wednesday. “Working hard to get the music to you soon!!”

Last month, Swift confirmed that Shamrock Holdings had purchased her master recordings from Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings.  In a social media post, Swift said she “received a letter from a private equity company called Shamrock Holdings, letting us know that they had bought 100% of my music, videos and album art from Scooter Braun. This was the second time my music had been sold without my knowledge. The letter told me that they wanted to reach out before the sale to let me know, but that Scooter Braun had required that they make no contact with me or my team, or the deal would be off.”

In that same letter to fans, Swift noted that she had begun re-recording her older music. After the original recording of “Love Story” released in 2008, the track reached the Top 5 on Billboard‘s Hot 100, reached No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart, and has since been certified 8x multi-Platinum by the RIAA.
