Luke Bryan Helps Launch Music Pharmacy Program In NYC With Pandora And Bose

Luke Bryan made a surprise visit to Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City with Musicians On Call (MOC) to launch the nonprofit’s new Music Pharmacy, delivering tablets with Pandora Plus subscriptions and noise cancelling Bose headphones for patients to listen to music, including three customized mixtapes.

With MOC’s Bedside Performance Program, Bryan went room to room listening to music with patients and performed hits and new music from his latest What Makes You Country album for patients right at the bedsides. Bryan also made a special visit to the nurses station on the orthopedic rehabilitation unit to meet with caregivers.

“Musicians On Call is proud to have music icon Luke Bryan with us to unveil our Music Pharmacy program, which uses technology specifically geared towards improving patient mood and experience,” said Pete Griffin, Musicians On Call President. “Thanks to our partners Bose and Pandora, we can offer patients an opportunity to access the healing power of music in between our weekly live performances in their rooms.”

The Music Pharmacy program will provide three, completely set up, tablets for hospitals to host for free. Lenox Hill is the first of 60 hospitals to receive this new program over the next year. MusicRow has confirmed there will be Nashville hospital recipients. Pandora curators worked with the Music Pharmacy team to create custom mixtapes “Prescription Strength,” showcasing songs promoting perseverance and hope, “Chill Refill,” for when it’s time to relax, and “Dose of Joy,” featuring songs from some of MOC’s many celebrity supporters.

The launch of the Music Pharmacy follows the success of the decade-long CD Pharmacy program, which provided tailored CD libraries and personal CD players to over 800 hospitals across the country. Hospitals can apply to be a Music Pharmacy recipient at www.musiciansoncall.org.
