Ingrid Andress, Gabby Barrett Make Country Radio Chart History

Ingrid Andress, Gabby Barrett

Today (April 27), Ingrid Andress notches her first No. 1 hit on the Mediabase/Country Aircheck chart, with “More Hearts Than Mine.” The chart success of Andress’ debut single follows last week’s No. 1, “I Hope,” also a debut chart-topping song from fellow Warner Music Nashville artist Gabby Barrett.

Never in the recorded history of Country Aircheck have two debut females had back-to-back No. 1 singles.

The two chart-topping hits follow Maren Morris‘ “The Bones,” which topped the both the Mediabase/Country Aircheck chart and the Billboard Country Airplay chart in early February, marking three No. 1 hits by solo female artists so far this year. Morris’ “The Bones” marked the first song since 2012 to spend two consecutive weeks at No. 1 since 2012.

Also in the Mediabase/Country Aircheck Top 10 is Carly Pearce with Lee Brice, on “I Hope You’re Happy Now.” Other solo female artists in the Top 20 this week include Carrie Underwood‘s “Drinking Alone” at No. 12 and Miranda Lambert‘s “Bluebird” at No. 20.

Average Joes Entertainment Launches Texas/Americana Label Imprint With Rich O’Toole

Average Joes Entertainment has launched a new Texas/Americana imprint, Buffalo Roam Records, with artist/writer Rich O’Toole as both the first artist signed to the label, as well as the leader for the new venture.

The imprint’s first album release is O’Toole’s New York City, which will release June 26. Texas native O’Toole has topped the Texas Music Chart three times, has had 23 Top 10 singles at Texas radio, and sold more than 100,000 albums. The signing marks a return to Average Joes for O’Toole, who released the album Kiss Of A Liar on the label in 2011.

“As we began to consider re-approaching the Texas music scene, Rich was a natural pick for a partner. Having worked with him in the past when he was an artist on Average Joes, we knew his drive and determination, as well as his Texas roots, would align well with the core spirit of Average Joes. We’re excited to have him back, and look forward to a bright future,” said Forrest Latta, Average Joes Entertainment A&R.

“I’m excited to bring a Texas/Americana sound with the new AJE imprint, Buffalo Roam Records. We will be delivering some of the best up-and-coming artists out of the southwest,” said O’Toole.

She will also assist with financial due diligence for potential strategic initiatives and, most importantly, ensure that all activities within the Recorded Music financial department are aligned with Concord’s overall goals, adhere to the company’s general accounting and operational policies and are consistent with its core values.

“I am thrilled to promote Hazel to this new role,” commented Valentine. “Ever since she joined Concord nine years ago, Hazel has repeatedly demonstrated her ability to provide the essential accounting and financial assistance that our creative and operational teams require to succeed. She is able to focus on the big picture, engenders trust with her coworkers and has built a world-class accounting team within the Recorded Music division. Her accomplishments throughout her time at Concord speak for themselves, and we are all happy to see her continue to advance her career here in this new vitally important position.”

“I would like to thank Bob Valentine for this opportunity,” said Malit. “I’m fortunate to work for a company who believes in their employees and encourages internal promotion. Also, I would like to thank my team for their continued support and dedication. As I take on this new role, I’m looking forward to working with Tom Whalley, Sig Sigworth, our label presidents and label services team in supporting Recorded Music Operations.”

“Hazel has become an integral part of the Recorded Music operations team over the last nine years,” said Whalley. “There is no better person to help lead the frontline and catalog labels in a continued pattern of growth,” continued Sigworth.
