The Americana Music Association reveals the initial presenter and performer lineup for its 14th annual Honors & Awards Show, to be held at the Ryman Auditorium on Wednesday, Sept. 16. The show will feature performances by Ry Cooder and Sharon White, Shakey Graves with Esme Patterson, Rhiannon Giddens, John Hiatt, Houndmouth, Jason Isbell, Nikki Lane, Jim Lauderdale, The Lone Bellow, Mavericks, Buddy Miller with Marc Ribot, Keb Mo, Robert Randolph with the Fairfield Four and the McCrary Sisters, Doug Seegers, Lucinda Williams and Lee Ann Womack. They join previously announced performances by Lifetime Achievement Award honorees Buffy Sainte-Marie, Don Henley, Gillian Welch, David Rawlings, Ricky Skaggs and Los Lobos.
Hosted by Jim Lauderdale, this year’s presenters include Joey Ryan and Kenneth Pattengale of the Milk Carton Kids, Rosanne Cash, Marc Ribot, Rob Bleetstein and John Grimson, Abigail Washburn and Noam Pikelny, Ron Sexsmith and Mary Gauthier, Ry Cooder, Rodney Crowell, Sara and Sean Watkins, John Kay and Ken Paulson, and Robyn Hitchcock.
The all-star house band will be led by Buddy Miller and includes Don Was, Chad Cromwell, Fats Kaplin, Ian Fitchuk, The McCrary Sisters and Bill Payne, legendary founding member of Little Feat.
The awards will be recorded and air on PBS television Saturday, Nov. 21.
The ceremony is part of the 16th Annual Americana Music Festival & Conference, presented by Nissan, running Sept. 15-20, 2015 at the Hutton Hotel. This year’s Music Business Conference will feature more than 60 panels and workshops with approximately 200 experts.
The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum continues their partnership with the AMA, presenting events in the museum’s Ford Theater and CMA Theater. The keynote on Thursday, Sept. 17, 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. will feature Don Henley interviewed by Warren Zanes. [Updated]: Old Dominion Sets Full-Length Release, Reveals Cover Art
/by Eric T. ParkerSeasoned songwriters turned major label breakout band, Old Dominion, have revealed the cover art via social media for a forthcoming RCA Nashville collective release. Titled Meat and Candy, the full length project will hit shelves Nov. 6.
The band’s lead single, “Break Up With Him,” was produced by Shane McAnally and gained early support from SiriusXM before the quintet signed with Sony Nashville in February 2015. The group joined Kenny Chesney for a run of 18 stadium dates on his The Big Revival Tour, as part of over 130 dates scheduled for the year.
The five-member group consists of Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen, Whit Sellers, Geoff Sprung and Brad Tursi. A previously released five-song EP included additional tracks “Shut Me Up,” “Nowhere Fast,” Beer Can in a Truck Bed,” and “Wrong Turns.”
A weekly online video series will post every Wednesday through September in promotion of the project.

Daphne Willis Signs Co-Publishing Agreement with Sony/ATV and Whizbang, Inc.

ASCAP songwriter Daphne Willis has signed a co-publishing agreement with Sony/ATV Music Publishing and Nashville-based Whizbang, Inc.
“I am beyond excited to join the Sony/ATV and Whizbang teams,” says Willis. “I couldn’t be more thankful to have had support from ASCAP, specifically their GPS Program, which put me in the right direction. Ready to kick some ass!”
Sony/ATV Manager of A&R/Creative, Mark Abramowitz added, “We are excited to play a role in developing Daphne’s career as both an artist and songwriter. Daphne is a great writer capable of impacting both the pop and country markets.”
Born in San Antonio to a classically trained vocalist and audio engineer, Willis began performing at open mic nights around Chicago while a student at DePaul University. She eventually started a band and began playing around 200 shows a year across the United States. She released her first full-length album, What To Say, in 2010 and her second album, Because I Can, in 2011. She currently resides in Nashville.

Susan Nadler Releases Children’s Book
Nadler served as a publicist for Tammy Wynette, The Highwaymen and Clint Black, before teaming with Evelyn Shriver to lead Asylum Records from 1998-2001. That year, Nadler and Shriver started Bandit Records and later released Jones’ Grammy-winning album Cold Hard Truth. She currently works as a talent manager for the TV show Soundstage.

Mike Craft Lands Newly Created Role at BMLG

Big Machine Label Group (BMLG) COO Andrew Kautz announced today (September 9) that Nashville music industry veteran Mike Craft has joined BMLG as Senior Vice President of Finance. In this newly created role Craft will work directly with the Finance, Royalties and Licensing departments and report to Kautz.
“There are very few industry leaders with the experience and integrity that Mike exhibits,” said Kautz. “As Big Machine grows, it’s essential that we add team members that not only understand where our industry has been but also have the vision of what it can be. His passion for our mission and his broad industry knowledge will be an asset to BMLG.”
“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the most creative and the most successful record company in Nashville,” said Craft. “I am humbled and honored with the privilege of being part of this winning team.”
Craft exited his most recent role as Senior Vice President, Finance & Operations for Sony Music Nashville in early August where he served from 2011, responsible for overseeing the finances and operations of the label group’s proprietary record labels (RCA Nashville, Arista Nashville and Columbia Nashville). He joined Sony in a VP role in 2008. Prior to that Craft was the Chief Operating Officer for Provident Music Group.

2015 CMA Awards Nominations Revealed

Kelsea Ballerini and Steven Tyler announced the final nominees in five categories on Good Morning America. The announcement of the remaining seven categories followed on GoodMorningAmerica.com on Yahoo.
Eric Church and Little Big Town lead the nominations with five nods each. This is Church’s first nod for Entertainer of the Year. Kenny Chesney and Miranda Lambert each received nominations in four categories. Chesney could earn two additional trophies for co-producing “American Kids” (vying for Single) and The Big Revival (vying for Album).
Sam Hunt, Maddie & Tae, Kacey Musgraves, and Chris Stapleton each received three nominations.
For the first time in the history of the CMA Awards, four acts—Ballerini, Hunt, Maddie & Tae, and Stapleton—received debut nods for both New Artist, and, respectively, Female Vocalist; Single and Song; Vocal Duo; and Male Vocalist and Album.
Artists who earned two nominations include Ballerini, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, and Carrie Underwood.

Joe Ginsberg Signs Worldwide Publishing Deal With BMG Nashville

Joe Ginsberg has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with BMG through the company’s Nashville office. Ginsberg co-wrote Miranda Lambert’s recent hit single “Little Red Wagon” and has also had success as a member of the Reprise Records recording group Single File.
Though based in Los Angeles, Ginsberg has been traveling regularly to Nashville this year building a strong network of local collaborators while he continues to write for and secure activity in multiple formats.

Carrie Underwood will headline one of 10 nights at this year’s Apple Music Festival, becoming the first country music artist to participate in the global event live from London. Carrie will perform on Sept. 21 during the festival which takes place at London’s Roundhouse from Sept. 19 to Sept. 28. Apple will broadcast all performances to music fans around the world for free, live or on-demand via Apple Music and in stunning HD with Apple TV.
Underwood joins previously announced performers Pharrell Williams, One Direction, Florence+The Machine, The Weeknd, The Chemical Brothers, Take That, and Disclosure.
Apple hosted the iTunes Festival in London for eight years and renamed the event after the launch of Apple Music.

The evening will include performances from Black and the four finalists, Blake Esse, Jefferson Clay, Julie McCloud, and Sasha Aaron, are on sale now and can be purchased via the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.
