Phil Wickham To Release ‘Living Hope’ In August

Phil Wickham is set to release his first new album in two years on Aug. 3, Living Hope, on Fair Trade Services. The album found Wickham working with 19 songwriters and six producers during a year-long journey to finish it. The project includes the soulful track for immediate download, “Song in My Soul” featuring Hollyn.

Wickham’s current single, “Living Hope” debuted at No. 24 on the Billboard Christian Airplay chart and was co-written with Bethel Music’s Brian Johnson. “Living Hope” and other tracks from the record have been featured in key streaming playlists such as Amazon Music’s Fresh Christian and Spotify’s New Music Friday, Top Christian and WorshipNow playlists. The track “Till I Found You” is also set to impact Hot AC next month. Since its release to digital outlets two months ago, the song has garnered over four million streams across all platforms. Both singles also spent time on the Spotify US Viral 50 chart.

“So many songs on the record were born out of wanting to write the language and the prayers that go along with what God is doing in the community already,” said Wickham. “The goal wasn’t to write songs that were my expression necessarily of what is God doing in my life or what is my vision or what am I supposed to say through these songs. It’s more for the church.”

The California native will deliver a Living Hope album release show in Los Angeles on Aug. 3, followed by a performance at CMB’s Momentum conference this September.

Pictured (L-R): Dr. Burton Grant and Amy Grant. Photo: Amy Grant

Singer-songwriter Amy Grant‘s father, Dr. Burton Grant, died Saturday (June 30). He was 86.

Burton Grant was an oncologist, who also championed his daughter’s musical career. According to 2002’s The Sound Of Light, penned by Don Cusic, Dr. Grant provided financial support to help launch Amy Grant’s first album and tours, including hiring an independent radio promoter for her debut album, financially supporting her early tours, and providing financial support for Grant managers Michael Blanton and Dan Harrell when they opened Blanton/Harrell Production and Management in 1980, with Amy Grant as their first client.

Dr. Burton Grant’s wife Gloria Dean Napier Grant died in 2011.

“Walking our dad home has been a ten year journey, taking our family places we never imagined,” Amy Grant shared via Facebook on Sunday (July 1). “We are all closer because of it. I’m so grateful for my dad. My grandfather passed away when my dad was a teenager. When my dad decided to become a doctor it was his mother, my grandmother, who paid his way through school. Years after my grandmother passed, I found his graduation program in a box of her things with a note from my dad. It said, ‘Mother, I hope I will serve mankind in such a way as to justify your faith in me. Love, Burton’ Well done, Dad.”

Big Machine Records Reignites Partnership with John Force Racing

Big Machine Records has reignited their partnership with John Force Racing NHRA drivers Brittany Force and Courtney Force throughout the 2018 race season. Recently nominated for an ESPY Award for Best Driver, Brittany is NHRA’s reigning Top Fuel Champion. Sister Courtney is leading the 2018 points championship with four victories and seven No. 1 qualifying spots.

The powerhouse record label sponsored Courtney’s Chevrolet Camaro SS funny car at the 2017 Auto Club NHRA Finals to promote Big Machine Records’ 10-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift’s sixth studio album reputation. Courtney recently appeared on the CMT Music Awards to introduce Sam Hunt’s performance.

“Teaming up with fastest family in motorsports is a natural for Big Machine,” said BMLG President/CEO Scott Borchetta. “John Force is the biggest star the drag racing world has ever seen and daughters Brittany and Courtney are real racers and big stars in their own right. Our combined efforts to expose our music and spirits in the NHRA world while bringing more entertainment opportunities and exposure for John, Brittany and Courtney in our world is a true win-win. See you in Victory Lane.”

“It’s great to have Big Machine Records back on board with John Force Racing,” said CEO of John Force Racing and 16-time champion John Force. “We’ve done a lot of exciting things with them with that Taylor Swift car last season and my daughter Courtney Force going to the CMT Awards just a couple weeks ago. They were with my daughter Brittany Force when she won the 2017 championship last year. They’re a great partner with us and with Advance Auto Parts so we’re happy to have them back.”

“I’m excited to be teamed back up with Big Machine Records,” added Brittany. “We had them on our Monster Energy dragster when we won the championship last year and I’m excited to see what we can make happen this year. I’m looking forward to the rest of the season with my Monster Energy team and Big Machine Records. We’ll be looking for our second win this season and we’re hoping to get it done soon with Big Machine Records on board.”

Courtney commented, “Our Advance Auto Parts team and everyone at JFR is so excited to welcome back Big Machine Records to the team. We’ve had such a great relationship with them and I had so much fun working with them on a specialty Taylor Swift reputation Funny Car that I got to race at Pomona last year. This season, they gave me the opportunity, with Advance Auto Parts, to be a presenter at the CMT Awards in Nashville. That was such an incredible experience and I love that, while working with Big Machine Records, it allows us the opportunity to cross over two different worlds of rock n’ roll & drag racing. We look forward to the future possibilities with them & hope to have them back in the winner’s circle with us many more times this season.”
