Mark Chesnutt has announced his “2025 Redemption Tour” in celebration of health, recovery and sobriety, and is going public with the disclosure of multiple health scares which almost ended his life.
The nearly 40-date tour will kick off May 3 in Texas and visit Little Rock, Columbus, New Braunfels and many more cities through October.
With 14 No. 1s and more than 12 million albums sold, Chesnutt was one of the ‘90s most known hitmakers. In recent years, he underwent invasive spine surgery, years of alcoholism, rehab and open heart surgery in succession, all of which cost time he intended to spend strengthening his career. Chesnutt’s struggle began in his early 20s when he fractured his spine. He lost the ability to walk and fell down an escalator at the Houston airport.
“My surgery was a major major one,” he says, explaining doctors scraped scar tissue off his nerves and that he now has two titanium rods in his back. “I couldn’t work. I was laid up, didn’t drive, couldn’t walk, couldn’t do anything.”
Even though he returned to touring, he still struggled with balance and frequently fell, then got sick from alcohol and had to go back to the hospital. Doctors gave Chesnutt four blood transfusions that night and told him he probably wouldn’t survive the following two days from bleeding.
Chesnutt took his final drink on November 1, 2023. Five months later, he faced emergency quadruple bypass surgery, the latest hurdle in years of health challenges.
“I’m so happy about my Redemption Tour,” says Chesnutt. “I’m going out with excitement and a renewed energy for all aspects of performing and possibly recording. I love being on stage and seeing and hearing the crowd. I now realize that’s what I love about being in this business. I’m back and doing better than ever. My diet is better. I’m more active, and I feel better than I did in my 30s. I’m excited about the whole process of going on the road. I’m excited every night to go on stage. I have the energy I wish I had throughout the ’90s.”

BMI launched its seventh season of its signature Rooftop On The Row series on Monday night (Apr. 28) with newcomers Thomas Edwards, Colt Graves and Thebrosfresh.

The invitation-only event offered over three hours of music as hundreds of industry guests took in the Music City skyline from BMI’s Nashville office. DJ Smoke set the tone for the evening as BMI’s Mason Hunter introduced Edwards to the stage, where he performed “Nights I Can Remember,” “Whiskey Bottle Man” and “Friday Night 9-5.” Graves kicked off his set with “Burning House” before going into “Dirt on Me,” “Mug Shot” and his collaboration with Timbaland “Cowboy Capone.” Thebrosfresh closed out the evening with “Consent (It’s Been a While),” “Your Energy” and “She Wants” from their latest EP, Same Leather.
BMI’s Rooftop On The Row series returns May 28 with headliners Lukas Nelson and Kaitlin Butts, followed by Tucker Wetmore and Tanner Adell on Jul. 15. Vincent Mason and Max McNown will take over on Aug. 12, before the final event on Sept. 17 which will serve as the official kickoff to Americanafest, with performers for the final show to be announced soon.

Multi-genre singer-songwriter Thomas Daniel has signed an exclusive co-publishing agreement with Big Machine Music.

Tucker Wetmore and Avery Anna also join the lineup, with more artists set to be announced. Attendees will be treated to live performances, craft food vendors, full bars, line dancing and immersive art installations, all set in Southern Arizona.

Eric Church Slates Arena Tour For Fall

Eric Church is set to launch his 22-date “Free The Machine Tour” on Sept. 12. Church will be joined across varying dates by special guests Elle King, Marcus King Band and Charles Wesley Godwin. The tour will kick off in Pittsburgh and visit Boston, Lexington, Sacramento and more before wrapping on Nov. 15.
“From front to back, these shows will be different than anything you’ve ever seen or heard from us before,” shares Church in a video message sent directly to Church Choir members. “I cannot wait to see you on the road for this tour.”
Tickets to most shows are available to the general public beginning next Friday (May 9) at 10 a.m. local time, with the Philadelphia date on sale May 16. Fan club pre-sale begins May 5 at 10 a.m. local time. In an effort to protect fans from scalpers, Church is reserving all pit tickets on the “Free the Machine Tour” for premium Church Choir members. Pit tickets will be will-call only to deter resale.
The announcement comes just before the release of Church’s highly anticipated record, Evangeline vs. The Machine, which is available Friday (May 2).
Church will also bring the new music and his esteemed catalog to life onstage later this spring and summer with a run of high-profile shows, kicking off with two “To Beat The Devil” residency shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall on May 16-17 before a sold-out, two-night takeover of Nashville’s The Pinnacle May 23–24 for “Evangeline vs. The Machine Live.” In July, he heads west to Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, where fans can expect a unique set each evening across three sold-out shows: “Eric Church vs. The Machine,” “Eric Church vs. The ECB” and “Eric Church vs. The Guitar.”

Whitaker Elledge To Head Dualtone

Dualtone’s GM and Senior VP Whitaker Elledge has officially stepped into the lead role at the Nashville-based label, which is a division of MNRK Music Group, following the passing of President Paul Roper after his long battle with cancer.
Since joining Dualtone in 2018, Elledge has held multiple roles in A&R and Artist Development before being promoted to GM/SVP in 2023. Elledge will remain based in Nashville and will now report directly to MNRK’s COO Chris Moncada.

Kacey Musgraves Inks With Lost Highway Records

Grammy award winning singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves has signed with Lost Highway Records, marking her as the flagship signing to the recently relaunched label. This also marks a full circle moment for Musgraves and the label, as she was the final artist signed in 2011 before Lost Highway was absorbed by Mercury Nashville a year later.
“Lost Highway was always a musical stable for artists who might be considered outliers or outlaws; those who live on the fringe,” shares Musgraves. “In 2011, when other record labels questioned my songwriting and my more traditional country sound, Lost Highway believed in me, signing me to my first label deal and helped me take my music around the world. That journey has now come full circle in such a special way with John Janick and Interscope and I’m deeply honored to be able to once again call Lost Highway my musical home.”
To celebrate the signing, Musgraves has released her version of Leon Payne’s “Lost Highway,” which the label is named after. Musgraves co-produced her version, alongside Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk.

She embarked on her “Deeper Well Tour” last year, playing to sold-out crowds across the world, before winning the 2025 Grammy Award for Best Country Song with the album’s “The Architect.”
Morgan Wallen Launches Wilder Music; Signs Flagship Songwriter Jared Mullins

Morgan Wallen has established his own publishing company, Wilder Music. The first songwriter on the company’s roster is hitmaker Jared Mullins, in partnership with Warner Chappell Music Nashville.
“I’ve been lucky enough to know Morgan for over a decade,” shares Mullins. “As an artist, he’s obviously one of the greatest of all time, but he’s also one of the best writers in the world. I’m extremely grateful and incredibly humbled that he believes in me enough to make me the first signing of Wilder Music.
“Warner Chappell is known for championing great songs and for signing and re-signing some of the best writers ever to put words and melodies together,” he continues. “Working with Jessi [Vaughn Stevenson] and getting to know the rest of the WCM crew has been amazing. I’m so thankful for this opportunity and I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for us.”
Splitting his childhood between Maryland and West Virginia, Mullins moved to Nashville in 2013 to write country music. By forging connections and honing his craft, Mullins has established himself as a hitmaker on Music Row, penning multiple No. 1 hits including Kane and Katelyn Brown’s “Thank God,” Jake Owen’s “Homemade” and more. Brad Paisley headlined the NFL Draft Concert Series presented by Bud Light on April 26, closing out three days at the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay. As the grand finale to Draft weekend, Paisley took the stage at the Draft Theater near Lambeau Field for a free concert following the conclusion of Round 7 of the Draft. Paisley dazzled the enthusiastic crowd with hits from his career and a blistering guitar-solo tribute to Prince.

Eric Church sat down with Willie Geist on NBC’s Sunday TODAY over the weekend to discuss his nearly two-decade journey defined by consistent risk-taking and rule-breaking as he enters a bold new chapter with his most sonically ambitious project yet, his new album Evangeline vs. the Machine, due out May 2. The Grand Ole Opry was recognized April 14 by the Tennessee House of Representatives in a special session held at the Tennessee State Capitol in honor of the Opry’s 100th anniversary. Introduced by Representative Jeremy Faison, the resolution recognized the Opry’s century-long impact on American music and Tennessee culture, calling it “the heartbeat of Nashville.” Following the resolution, Opry members Dailey & Vincent performed the fan-favorite tribute to their home state, “I’ll Leave My Heart in Tennessee,” live on the chamber floor. “I’ll Leave My Heart in Tennessee,” was written by Karen Staley and was named an official Tennessee State Song in 2022.
