Weekly Register: Morgan Wallen Continues To Rule The Charts

Morgan Wallen continues to hold down the charts this week, according to Luminate data. His recently-released I’m The Problem album has garnered 186K in total consumption (9.1K in album only and 223 million in song streams). His duet with Tate McRae, “What I Want,” tops the songs chart with 19 million streams this week, adding to its 116 million total.

Wallen continues to hold the No. 2 and No. 3 spots with One Thing At A Time garnering 40K in total consumption and Dangerous: The Double Album with 31K. Shaboozey’s Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going holds strong at No. 4 with 27K in total consumption. Rounding out the album chart this week is Post Malone’s F-1 Trillion with 21K in total consumption.

On the songs chart, Wallen holds the top three spots. “Just In Case” comes in at No. 2 with 17 million streams this week. “I’m The Problem” follows at No. 3 with 15 million streams. BigXthaPlug and Bailey Zimmerman fall in at No. 4 with 12 million new streams on “All The Way.” Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” has climbed to No. 5 with 11 million streams this week.

Briana Calhoun Signs With Sony Music Publishing & Kix Brooks

Briana Calhoun has inked a worldwide publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing Nashville and Kix Brooks.

“I’m humbled and honored to have the opportunity to do what I love for a living,” says Calhoun. “I had all but given up on my dream of becoming a songwriter, and shifted my focus to growing Hope on the Inside. But, with that came an outpouring of love and support from the Nashville community, and I think people began to notice. I’m living proof that walking in-purpose can lead to your dream. I’m so grateful to everyone who has joined me on this journey and I am especially grateful to Kix [Brooks] for believing in me and pushing me to use my gifts for good, and for Rusty [Gaston] for giving me this opportunity and encouraging me along the way.”

Calhoun has already began making a mark on the Music City songwriting scene with her unique and authentic sound. The singer-songwriter has collaborated and shared stages with Don Cook, Terri Clark, David Lee Murphy, Randy Houser, Dallas Davidson, Steve Wariner, Bob DiPiero, Tim Nichols, Rafe Van Hoy, Marv Green, Brett Tyler, Greg Barnhill and more.

Outside of songwriting, Calhoun also serves as the Executive Director and Founder of Hope on the Inside (HOTI), with Brooks serving as Partner and President. Founded in 2023, HOTI is a nonprofit dedicated to providing tools and skills to those formerly incarcerated.

A former inmate herself, Calhoun has used the foundation and songwriting to show her story of inner strength and hope. She will release two new singles in August, “Hope on the Inside,” co-penned with DiPiero and Van Hoy, as well as “Bustin’ Out,” co-written alongside Brooks and Chancie Neal. She also has plans to release an acoustic album later in the year.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Briana on this collaboration with Sony,” shares Brooks. “I’ve been writing songs there for almost my entire career, and I’m confident it’s going to be a great home for her, too. She’s not just writing really good and unique songs, she’s also changing lives with the work she’s doing to help inmates through her nonprofit. I’m proud to be associated with her, and I have no doubt she’s got a great future with the music she’s got coming. Congratulations Briana!”

Kane Brown Lands 13th No. 1 With ‘Backseat Driver’

Kane Brown has landed his 13th career No. 1 on country radio with his most recent single, “Backseat Driver.” Penned by Jacob Davis and Jordan Walker, the song serves as a reflection on parenthood for Brown and the small but meaningful moments being a father has given him.

This marks Brown’s eighth consecutive No. 1 at radio, following “Miles On It (feat. Marshmellow),” “I Can Feel It,” “Bury Me In Georgia,” “Thank God (feat. Katelyn Brown),” “Like I Love Country Music” and “One Mississippi,” as well as Chris Young’s “Famous Friends” which he featured on.

Brown recently released his next single, “2 Pair,” and will continue his “The High Road Tour” this fall. He is also set to make his feature film debut this year.

MercyMe Seek The ‘Wonder & Awe’ On Latest Project, Due Aug. 8

MercyMe will release their 12th studio project, Wonder & Awe, on Aug. 8.

For the first time ever, the band jumped in to co-produce all tracks on the 13-song collection, collaborating with longtime producer Tedd T as well as Brown Bannister, and new creative voices Josh Auer, Jarad Atherton and Carter Frodge.

The lead single from the upcoming project, “Oh Death” is racing up the charts, currently sitting at No. 3 on both the Billboard Christian AC and Mediabase Christian AC charts, No. 5 on Billboard Christian Airplay charts and at No. 6 on Mediabase Christian Audience. With a whopping 50 No. 1 songs to their credit, Wonder & Awe‘s lead single follows MercyMe’s most recent No. 1s, “Then Christ Came feat. Phil Wickham” and “To Not Worship You,” as well as the top five hit, “Always Only Jesus.”

“One of the struggles within today’s church is the lack of awe,” says lead singer Bart Millard about the new project. “Having access to virtually everything within the palm of our hands, where’s the joy in being surprised? Those moments that take our breath away.  This album reflects where I am right now…longing for wonder and awe—actively seeking the wonder of God and learning not to take it for granted. We’re so excited to finally share it, and we hope it brings even a fraction of the joy and excitement it’s brought us.”

In support of the new release, MercyMe is embarking on a eight-date stint this fall with fellow hitmakers TobyMac and Matthew West Sept. 25- Oct. 5. “MercyMe Live 2025” is slated to continue through the fall with Natalie Grant and special guest Sam Wesley.

A second major motion picture based on MercyMe’s hit song Even If is also currently in production and is set to release through Lionsgate on Feb. 20, 2026. The film will continue the inspirational true story of Millard and features J. Michael Finley reprising his role as Bart, alongside Milo Ventimiglia, Dennis Quaid, Trace Adkins, and Sophie Skelton.

John Oates Revisits R&B & Pop Grooves On New Self-Titled LP Due In August

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Oates will release a brand new self-titled solo album on Aug. 29 featuring some special guests.

Reminiscent of the classic, groove-oriented R&B and pop he produced in the ’70s and ’80s, Oates was inspired in part by a new generation of talents that have caught his ear, including the NYC 8-piece soul pop band Lawrence,  and soul singer-songwriter Devon Gilfillian. After hearing Lawrence’s music, Oates was moved to write the first single from the project, “Enough Is Enough,” and asked them to guest on it. Gilfillian collaborated with Oates on the record, co-writing “Real Thing” and co-writing and singing on “Mending.”

Other album highlights include the previously released “Pushin’ A Rock,” with Oates empowering us to “roll with it” when things get rough,“Dreaming Of Brazil” (featuring Wendy Moten on vocals) which was inspired by his love of Bossa Nova and Carlos Jobim, and “Bajo La Luz De La Luna,” a song he penned for Gringa, a feature film that takes place in Mexico.

Oates memorialized the collective experience of the pandemic on “Disconnected,” and imagines how it would feel to be completely alone on “World’s Gone Wrong,” a moving track that reminds us to be grateful for our loved ones. The album closes with Oates’ take on “Walking In Memphis,” as well as a remixed bonus track of the song by American electronic music producer Grabbitz.

Oates put together a new band to take these new songs on the road and will play a a special kick-off show at home in Nashville at The Analog at Hutton Hotel on June 29, with other dates set for the Troubadour (Aug. 27), The Rockaways in NYC (Aug. 24), Summerfest (July 4) and more.

Owen Riegling Inks With UMPG

Owen Riegling has inked an exclusive global publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Nashville.

After breaking out with his Platinum single “Old Dirt Roads,” Riegling signed with Universal Music Canada and has amassed 130 million global streams, back-to-back CCMA wins and completed a 103 date debut headline tour last year. This year, he is set to play Boots & Hearts, Country Thunder and support select dates on Luke Bryan’s summer tour.

“Sam [Nasr] and I have been fans of Owen from the moment Amanda Kingsland (Universal Music Canada) introduced us to his music,” says Cyndi Forman, SVP, A&R, UMPG Nashville. “Owen’s music captures the grit, heart and storytelling that country music was built on. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome him into the family!”

Randy Travis is releasing a new vinyl collection featuring 10 of his most beloved songs, Now Playing – Randy Travis, via Warner Music Nashville and Rhino Records on Aug. 1 as part of Rhino’s Now Playing series.

The new release spans Travis’ career, capturing the heart and soul of a voice that defined a generation of country music, and includes “If I Didn’t Have You,” “Forever and Ever, Amen,” “1982,” “Diggin’ Up Bones,” On the Other Hand” and more.

Now Playing – Randy Travis is the latest installment in the Now Playing series, a curated collection from Warner Music artists designed to bring great hits to music lovers at an accessible price point. Something Out West Releases Debut EP ‘Leaving Hollywood’

Something Out West recently released their debut EP Leaving Hollywood via Big Machine Records.

In celebration of the new EP, which includes “You Better Run,” “Bipolar Heart,” the title track, and more, the duo of Chet Hanks and Drew Arthur will make their TV debut on TODAY and The Kelly Clarkson Show tomorrow (June 24).

Following the success of their viral hit and music video for “You Better Run,” which quickly garnered nearly half a million views in its first week of release, Something Out West’s Leaving Hollywood EP features five original tracks that draw influence from the Eagles, Blink-182, The Beatles and more.

MCA Staff Gather To Mark A New Chapter

The MCA staff gathered last week to mark the beginning of a new chapter for the label, which recently rebranded from UMG Nashville to MCA (Music Corporation of America).

The team convened for a series of meetings that highlighted the label’s vision for the future. After these meetings, the team was treated to performances and previews of new music from MCA artists such as Jordan Davis, Carter Faith, Josh Ross, Tucker Wetmore, Brothers Osborne, Jon Pardi, Keith Urban and Luke Bryan.

Under the leadership of Mike Harris, President and CEO, and Dave Cobb, Chief Creative Officer, MCA aims to lead a transformation in the music industry by putting artists at the forefront and creating a collaborative, community-driven ecosystem designed to foster creative freedom and purpose-driven success.

Lauren Watkins Makes Grand Ole Opry Debut

Big Loud country songstress Lauren Watkins made her Grand Ole Opry debut on Friday (June 20), fulfilling a lifelong dream for the Nashville-born artist. She performed her debut single “Shirley Temple” and latest release “I’ll Get Through It” to a full house of friends and family, earning a roaring applause.

Watkins found out about her Opry debut a few weeks ago when tour-mate Zach Top surprised her on stage during his “Cold Beer and Country Music Tour.”

“It means the world to me to be here,” shared Watkins on the Opry stage. “I’m one of the rare ones that was born and raised here – and I’m proud to say that. Of all the things I’ve gotten to do in my career, and all the things I’ll get to do, this is the thing that means the most to me.”

The day before her Opry debut, Watkins made another stop close to home at FirstBank Amphitheater, where she opened up the show for Riley Green’s “Damn Country Music Tour” stop. She also paid a visit to ACM Lifting Lives’ summer camp at Ocean Way Studios, joining Ross Copperman for a special morning with campers as part of ACM’s week-long residential music program for individuals with Williams syndrome.
