Charlie Daniels Announces 2020 Volunteer Jam

Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie Daniels has announced the return of his legendary Volunteer Jam live concert. Headlined by The Charlie Daniels Band, the multi-artist event is set to take place on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, with participating artists to be announced in February.

“We play over one hundred cities every year and they’re all special in their own way, but when you get a chance to bring it all back home, especially when so many of your friends are joining you, it don’t get much better than that,” says Daniels. “Jammin’ in the Guitar Town, second to none!”

“The jam is unique in so many ways,” says Daniels’ manager David Corlew. “Multi-act shows are common these days, but none offer the opportunity to interact with the other acts, literally by jamming with a plethora of artists and musicians. It’s Charlie Daniels at his best!”

Tickets go on sale via Ticketmaster this Friday, Dec. 20 at 10 a.m. central time. The event is produced by Outback Presents in association with David Corlew and Associates.

The Charlie Daniels Band performed the first Volunteer Jam on Oct. 4, 1974, at the War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, marking the beginning of a tradition. Over the Jam’s four-decade history, Daniels and his band have played alongside superstar guests including Ted Nugent, The Allman Brothers Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, Billy Joel, Garth Brooks, Billy Ray Cyrus, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tammy Wynette, Roy Acuff, Carl Perkins, ALABAMA, Don Henley, Barefoot Jerry and more.

Kenny Chesney Adds Amphitheater Shows To 2020 Tour

Kenny Chesney is mixing it up on his upcoming Chillaxification Tour this summer, playing 22 previously announced stadium shows but also dialing it back a bit and adding in 18 amphitheater shows as well. On the amphitheater shows, he’ll be joined by good friend Michael Franti & Spearhead.

“As crazy and awesome as the stadium shows are—and there’s nothing like them—there is a vibe to the amphitheater shows that only happens in those places,” Chesney says. “You look out at the lawn, you see everybody coming together, singing the songs—and it’s this community that feels so close. I think everyone likes when we change things up. The shows are different. We make sure we play all the same songs, but there’s a looseness in the amphitheaters—and with only two acts, there’s also a different kind of intensity. Bringing Michael Franti & Spearhead is going to keep the energy up in a big way, and No Shoes Nation is going to really love them.”

Chesney will visit amphitheaters in West Palm Beach, Phoenix, Boise, Syracuse, Virginia Beach and more from May 7-August 26th on this portion of the tour. Fans can first purchase tickets beginning Friday, Jan. 24, 2020 for select cities as part of Live Nation’s Country Megaticket, and other markets will announce on-sale details individually.

Jake Owen Heads To The Tiki Tonk On New Acoustic Tour

Jake Owen is stripping it down and going back to basics on his new headlining acoustic tour, the “Down To The Tiki Tonk Tour.” The new tour will launch on Valentine’s Day weekend next year, and will visit eight cities including Des Moines, Iowa (Feb. 14), Green Bay, Wisconsin (Feb. 27), Lancaster, Pennsylvania (March 6), Augusta, Georgia (March 14), and Mobile, Alabama (March 15) brings Owen back to the roots of how he got started — playing on a barstool with just him and the audience.

Larry Fleet will serve as direct tour support for the “Down To The Tiki Tonk Tour,” and tickets go on sale Dec. 13 and are available with additional purchasing information at jakeowen.net.

“Sitting on a barstool, just playing a guitar and singing songs is how I first started making music and is what first led me to fall in love with performing,” recalls Owen. “Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to have the venues get bigger, and to play for larger crowds on major headlining tours, but when I sat down to think about what was important to me this upcoming year, I really wanted the opportunity to go back to the beginning of it all. For me, it was that intimate connection with fans and the ability to really engage on a more personal level… it just takes me back to the real roots of where and why you started doing this in the first place. The strength of the songwriting and the magic of how that translates into a room with just a guitar and a song. I really can’t wait to play these rooms.”

Entertainment Tonight recently premiered the long-form extended video for Owen’s latest single “Homemade,” which is currently racing up the country charts. The video for the song features Owen’s grandparents’ real-life love story, and he shared an in-depth interview with his grandparents on a recent episode of his podcast “Good Company with Jake.”

The University of Texas at Austin, Oak View Group (OVG) and Live Nation Entertainment recently announced the official groundbreaking and start of construction on the Moody Center, a new multi-purpose, state-of-the-art, privately financed sports and entertainment arena in Austin, Texas.

The $338 million, 15,000-seat world-class arena will open early 2022, and in addition to the space being home to the University of Texas basketball games, graduations, as well as university, community, high school, and other events for the Austin community, the new venue will be built for music and host top touring concerts and shows. Moody Center will replace the 42-year-old Frank C. Erwin Jr. Center at The University of Texas at Austin campus.

Live Nation Entertainment will work with C3 Presents to bring top tours and premium live events to the Moody Center.

“The Moody Center will be a must-play arena and we look forward to bringing our concerts and tours there as soon as the doors open in 2022,” said Michael Rapino, Chairman and CEO, Live Nation Entertainment.

“The University of Texas is one of the most important and largest universities in the world. Our partnership with President Fenves, Athletic Director Del Conte and the entire university is a new vision and a new standard on a private-public partnership that will create a world-class venue for the Longhorns and for Austin,” said Tim Leiweke, CEO, Oak View Group. “This partnership has brought together one of the most recognized universities and brands, the Longhorns, with the world’s leader in content, Live Nation, and the world’s largest developer of new arenas, OVG, with Matthew McConaughey. Those partners will create one of the greatest arenas in the world and become the heart and soul for the campus and Austin.”

McConaughey, University of Texas at Austin professor, Distinguished Alumnus (BS ’93), and Academy Award-winning actor, has signed on as Minister of Culture of the Moody Center and will work on ideas including but not limited to suite designs, bar placement, color schemes, and other concepts, to create a symbiotic relationship between the arena, the city, and the university.

“As a proud alumnus and professor at UT, I’m honored, now as Minister of Culture, to convey what a special place the university and the city of Austin are through the design and hospitality of the new Moody Center,” said McConaughey. “It should be the first place the biggest bands in the world want to play, but the last place a visiting basketball team wants to play.”
