The Shadowboxers Ink Deal With Kobalt

Kobalt​ has signed American pop band The Shadowboxers to a worldwide agreement, including publishing administration with artist development firm Villa 40 for all of The Shadowboxers’ future works and back catalogue.

Said Kobalt General Manager Nashville Jesse Willoughby, “We’re really excited to welcome The Shadowboxers to Kobalt. They’re some of the most talented guys making pop music and are thrilled to help take their careers to the next level.”

Discovered by Justin Timberlake and signed to his Villa 40 artist development company, The Shadowboxers recently completed the opening support slot on the first US leg and European leg of his Man of The Woods Tour.

APOLLO, the band’s debut EP, was co-produced by Timberlake and Israeli writer/producer, K-Kov. The lead track, “Runaway,” was featured with live performances on The Today Show and The Talk. Their latest single, “Telephone,” was released today and is co-written by Timberlake. An accompanying video features an modernized ode to the three-part harmonies of the Bee Gees.

Warner/Chappell Production Music’s Director of Operations, Marcia Kautz, is now a board member of the Production Music Association.

“The Production Music Association has long been the advocate of the production music industry as a whole,” says Marcia. “I am excited to have been elected to the board and to get started with the excellent team of professionals that drive this industry.”

Kautz is Director of Operations for Warner/Chappell Production Music, a leader in worldwide music licensing. Her responsibilities span the departments of finance, human resources, operations, licensing administration, and business development. She has over 20 years of music industry experience, ranging from record label admin to publishing and finance. Her varied experience from within multiple aspects of the industry informs her leadership, whether working closely with staff or overseeing large-scale licensing and revenue opportunity negotiations with partners and clients.

 

Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Adds Director Of Public Relations

The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum has added Kelly McGlumphy to the museum’s staff, as director of public relations. In her role, McGlumphy leads the communications efforts for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Hatch Show Print, RCA Studio B, the Haley Gallery, and the CMA Theater. Her responsibilities include the overarching strategy and management of media relations and corporate communications for the organization.

She has nearly two decades of experience in the non-profit, agency and corporate sectors, McGlumphy most recently served as public relations senior manager for GOJO Industries, where she was responsible for public relations and social media strategy for the GOJO and PURELL brands. The Cleveland native began her career in media relations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. McGlumphy, who is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America, holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from John Carroll University and a master’s degree in integrated marketing communication from West Virginia University.

 

Anita Cochran Performs “Fight Like A Girl” on Good Morning America

Two weeks after completing her final chemotherapy treatment and mere hours before Anita Cochran performed her new power anthem “Fight Like A Girl”on Good Morning America she found herself in the hospital after sustaining a fall on the rainy streets of New York City and breaking two ribs.

Cochran, true to the words of her own song, ‘fought like a girl’ through the pain and no sleep for what would become one of her most emotional and powerful performances of her career as she rallied breast cancer patients and patients right in the middle of Times Square. Good Morning America and ABC News saying, “The singing sensation and breast cancer survivor rocks Times Square with her inspiring anthem.”

 

Warner/Chappell Nashville Signs Robyn Collins

Songwriter Robyn Collins has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with Warner/Chappell Nashville. With more than two decades of writing experience, previously as a journalist, Collins realized her penchant for writing songs in 2012.

She has since collaborated with various songwriters, including Warner/Chappell’s Jordan Reynolds. Their song “Nothin’ Like Us” (Josh Gracin) has over 15 million streams on Spotify alone.

Songwriter and producer Johnny Simmen has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with Warner/Chappell Nashville. Simmen has more than a decade of experience as an artist and producer across a wide array of projects, bringing a diverse skill set to the Nashville market.

A multi-instrumentalist, Simmen has produced two Toronto Independent Music Award (TIMA)-winning EPs, including The Fifth by Birds of Bellwoods (Best Folk or Roots Album 2015), and Beauty Fools by The Naked Wild (Best Indie Album 2015). He has also collaborated with producers Michael Brauer (Coldplay, John Mayer) and Joe Chiccarelli (Jason Mraz, U2, Elton John).

Madeline McDonald Signs With Full Circle Music

Madeline McDonald has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with Full Circle Music. McDonald recently released her debut single, “Well Behaved Women.” The Houston native has been carving out her path as an artist and songwriter, and writing with some of Nashville’s top writers including Seth Mosley, Marti Dodson, Ben Stennis, and more.

“Today is an exciting day for us! Ever since we met Madeline, we knew instantly that she has the raw material to be a star,” said Mosley. “This song is a big step for her and I, as a husband and father of two girls, love the message of ‘Well Behaved Women.'”

Pete Good Signs Co-Venture With SMACKSongs And King Pen Music

Songwriter/producer Pete Good has signed a worldwide music publishing deal with SMACKSongs and King Pen Music, administered exclusively by Kobalt.

Good grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and moved to Nashville in 2009 to immerse himself in Nashville’s songwriting community. In 2013, he signed with King Pen Music/Garda Entertainment and has since had songs recorded by artists such as Tim McGraw, Darius Rucker, Walker Hayes, Rascal Flatts, Jerrod Niemann, LOCASH, Jason Michael Carroll, Michael Tyler, Trea Landon and more.

Recently, Good has been working with Shane McAnally to co-produce Monument Records recording artist Brandon Ratcliff’s forthcoming LP. He also co-wrote the debut single, “Rockin’ All Night Long,” from Capitol Records Nashville / Buena Vista Records artist Adam Hambrick, which is at country radio now.

“I am thrilled to begin this co-venture with SMACK, King Pen and Kobalt,” said Good. “I have so much respect for everyone that is a part of this team. They have a way of making anything feel possible, and to say that I am motivated is an understatement.”

Thomas Archer Extends Deal With MV2 Entertainment

MV2 Entertainment has extended its deal with hit songwriter Thomas Archer. Archer has had recent hits with artists Luke Combs (“Hurricane”) and Walker Hayes (“You Broke Up With Me”).

“We are excited to move forward with Thomas as he continues his growth and success as one of Nashville’s top-tier young writers,” said MV2 General Manager Tony Harrell.

Archer, born and raised in Georgia, made his move to Nashville in 2012 after securing numerous cuts with independent artists, which caught the ear of Nashville publishers and helped him land his first publishing deal. Since moving to Nashville, Archer has become a well-known name in the songwriting community and is poised to have a breakout year.

MV2’s roster of writers includes Thomas Archer, Nick Donley, Jimmie Deeghan, Eric Dodd, Clay Mills, Robert Arthur and artist Nora Collins.

Don McLean Extends UMPG Admin Deal

Don McLean recently signed a third extension to his ongoing administration deal with Universal Music Publishing Group, a deal worth $4.5 million, according to a release. McLean’s catalog includes classics “American Pie,” “Vincent (Starry, Starry Night),” “And I Love You So,” “Castles in The Air,” “The Grave,” and more. His relationship with UMPG reaches back to 1990.

“Universal has done a great job at getting my songs in movies and TV shows, and they are a first class, worldwide organization,” McLean says.

McLean is also readying for the second leg of his 2018 World tour which begins Oct. 1 in Essen, Germany, and will take him through Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Finland and Norway.

His newest album, Botanical Gardens, released in March on BMG. Earlier this year, the Country Music Hall of Fame announced it would highlight items from McLean’s career in its long-running, permanent exhibition Sing Me Back Home: A Journey Through Country Music.

Jimmy Robbins Inks New Co-Pub Deal With Round Hill, Signs Eric Arjes To JV

Round Hill Music Nashville and Baby Needs New Shoes have signed a new co-publishing deal with hit songwriter and producer Jimmy Robbins.

Robbins has earned 11 Top 10 hits including 8 No. 1 songs as a writer, as well as a No. 1 song as a producer for Canaan Smith’s “Love You Like That” and a Billboard No. 1 Album as a producer for RaeLynn’s Wildhorse. He is a CMA Triple Play Award winner and was ASCAP Song Of The Year winner for Thomas Rhett’s “It Goes Like This.” Robbins also recently earned NSAI’s 10 Songs I Wish I’d Written award for Maren Morris’ “I Could Use A Love Song.”
