Hough’s Video Banned… Really?
Who can beat Celebrity Taste-makers when it comes to discerning between the jealous and the zealous? Their snarky wit is discerning and head turning. So when LA Times blog Ministry of Gossip asked the musical question, is Julianne Hough’s new video “Is That So Wrong” deserving of being “kinda banned” by CMT, as the young DWTS starlet told a crowd last week in Maryland and was later reported in the Washington Post, we were intrigued.
The Ministry sums it up thusly…
Of course we had to look, and fortunately the video falls well within the Ministry’s never-super-high standards, so you can check it out too, above. But, for example:
Nobody gets beaten, and nothing gets burned down.
The official video in no way features Miley Cyrus grinding, smoking or dancing like a loon.
It’s not shot in a women’s prison, with performers in scanty underthings — and there’s no mass murder. So — are you scandalized by a beautiful woman dancing in short shorts and a bra that covers up just about everything? Even if she is Ryan Seacrest’s 22-year-old girlfriend?
According to AOL.com, CMT claims they aren’t airing the clip due to “contract negotiation problems.” The issue involves MTV/CMT and VEVO which distributes videos from Universal Music, Hough’s label group.

This is tame compared to Trace Adkins’ last video with the porn star rolling around in lingerie. I think the real reason that CMT won’t play this video just is because it sucks.
If you read the e-news from the Daily Mail national newspaper in the UK, you will see that they made quite a fuss yesterday about LeAnn Rimes and her “skimpy” Christmas outfit in her video – today is about getting noticed to gain press attention and there is nothing wrong with that if the ladies are at least “partially clothed” to cover the obvious and everything is left to the imagination. To prove the point, I cannot remember her name but do remember the video of a new female artist in a bathtub and the fact she was covered in bath bubbles – whe whole video was about that and very boring but CMT aired it.
If this were a video by a male artist with a female dancer in the background doing the same moves nobody would say boo. God forbid a female artist – who also happens to be an award winning dancer – express her sexuality in a song about sexuality. All of which, lyrics, dancing, etc, in a pretty tame way.
Um, I’ll have to watch it a few more times before I decide. HA!
Yes, its sexy, but its not R-rated compared to what u see on TV these days. Julianne has been Emmy nominated twice for her choreography. Maybe CMT thinks she would b a threat to their favorites. Biased to ban this particular video. I can name at least three country women singers that are more risque than Julianne in their videos. Also, a lot of male country singers have more risque videos than Julianne. Half of T Adkins are risque, “One Hot Mama,” for example. They don’t ban their stuff.
Worse than Lady Gaga, Britney, Christina Aguilera “Not Myself Tonight,” or Keri Hilson “The Way You Love Me?” CMT needs to move into the current century n lighten up.
I think it is because of the somersault on the bed. LOL. Really, who goes around in bedrooms doing somersaults?? The so called dancing in this messes up the song. C’mon Julianne, use your brain. This looks like Seacrest put her up to it. She was worried about her Dad seeing her in Burlesque? This is tacky. She was covered up more in Burlesque.
also, leave Trace’s video out of this. That portrays the male fantasy. The girl in that already is a playboy model. Julianne is a singer/dancer who shouldn’t have to pretend to be a stripper.
The only thing missing is the pole. Is that so wrong??
