Writers: Jacob Durrett/Jordan Dozzi/Kashus Culpepper; Producer: Brian Elmquist; Label: Big Loud Records/Mercury Records
– The groove is set by cool harmonica blowing, simple percussion and full-band production. His vocal yearns for love and exudes honesty. I’m in.
THOMAS RHETT / “After All the Bars Are Closed”
Writers: Jacob Kasher Hindlin/Jaxson Free/John Byron/Julian Bunetta/Thomas Rhett; Producers: Dann Huff, Julian Bunetta; Label: The Valory Music Co.
– He and his honey want to stay up all night together, to the accompaniment of finger snaps and ringing guitar notes. Jaunty. Pleasant.
VALERIE JUNE / “Joy, Joy!”
Writer: Valerie June Hockett; Producer: M. Ward; Label: Concord Records
– This Americana star leans into a horn-punctuated r&b groove on the lead single from her upcoming album. Her double tracked, lilting vocal has a childlike innocence as she sings of bliss.
JORDAN DAVIS / “In Case You Missed It”
Writers: Jacob Davis/Jordan Davis/Paul DiGiovanni/Travis Wood; Producer: Paul DiGiovanni; Label: MCA Nashville
– There’s something warm and endearing in his singing. The hearty tune sounds like a party, but the lyric is a heartbreaker. Loaded with folkie soul.
ADRIEN NUNEZ / “All I Ever Do”
Writers: Adrien Nunez/Cole Miracle/Sam Sumser/Sean Small; Producer: Steinza; Label: Warner Music Nashville/Warner Records
– The happy love song bounces along with joy in each step. His bright lead vocal is joined by a shouting, sing-along chorus on the hooky parts, and the production is admirably understated. Smooth listening.
RILEY GREEN / “Worst Way”

CHRIS JANSON / “Stay Rowdy”
Writers: Blake Bollinger/Chris Janson/Michael Tyler/Thomas Archer; Producers: Blake Bollinger, Chris Janson; Label: Nashville Harbor Records & Entertainment

BILL MEDLEY / “He Stopped Loving Her Today”
Writers: Bobby Braddock/Curly Putman; Producer: Fred Mollin; Label: Curb Records

His forthcoming album is devoted to classic country songs. It probably wasn’t the best idea to cover this iconic George Jones number, especially not by making the death ballad sound even more lugubrious. But I’m still a fan.
ANA CHRISTINA CASH / “Last Call”
Writers: Ana Cristina Cash/Jodi Marr/Willie Breeding; Producer: John Carter Cash, Willie Breeding; Label: Avondale Records

Patsy Cline ‘Lost Recordings’ Collection To Be Released On Record Store Day
/by Lorie HollabaughA treasure trove of unreleased material from Patsy Cline will be released on Imagine That: The Lost Recordings (1954-1963), a revelatory new collection from Elemental Music/Deep Digs due out on Record Store Day (April 12).
The limited edition two-LP set, produced in association with the Patsy Cline Estate, features 48 unissued tracks, all faithfully transferred, mastered and released for the first time. They cover the full breadth of the singer’s artistry, from her first days as a professional musician with Bill Peer & the Melody Boys and Girls in the early ‘50s to the peak of her popularity, just weeks before she tragically died at the age of 30 in a plane crash.
Drawn from radio broadcasts, TV shows, and demos, the meticulously restored performances cast a fresh spotlight on Cline’s powerful voice in an intimate, unadorned way. Alternate versions of Cline’s chart-topping crossover hits “Walkin’ After Midnight,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “Crazy,” and “She’s Got You” are included, and she duets with such fellow country stars as Cowboy Copas (who died in the same crash that took Cline’s life), Ferlin Husky, Red Foley, Bobby Lord, Ernest Tubb, and Lonzo & Oscar.
Co-produced by award-winning archival producer Zev Feldman, Cline discographer and authority George E. Hewitt and sound restoration engineer Dylan Utz, Patsy Cline – Imagine That features a detailed track-by-track discography; a historical note by author/writer Martin Melhuish; reflections on Cline’s art by musicians k.d. lang, Marty Stuart, Ray Benson, and more. The two-LP set will also be released as two CDs and digital download on April 18.

/by Lorie HollabaughPictured (L-R, front row): Kevin Herring of Triple Tigers Records, Shane Profitt and Annie Ortmeier of Triple Tigers Records; (L-R, back row): Brian Wolf and Jason Hauser of Maverick. Photo: Liz Scherff
Shane Profitt has signed with Triple Tigers Records.
The 25-year-old Columbia, Tennessee native began his musical journey only a few years ago, traveling all over Tennessee to weekend shows while still holding down his job back home working for the city of Columbia. Since then, he has rocked sold-out shows at the Ryman Auditorium, played the Grand Ole Opry and continued to write modern country rooted in his blue-collar upbringing.
Profitt released the three-song collection Maury County Line (BMLG Records/Harpeth 60 Records), and tracks like the hook-filled honky-tonker “Better Off Fishin’,” the chest-thumping charmer “Guys Like Me” and his top 15 single “How It Oughta Be” struck a chord with fans. He is currently in the studio with new music expected this spring and will be hitting the road on tour with Aaron Lewis.
“We were blown away by Shane’s genuine songwriting, authentic delivery and incredible voice and knew we had to have him on our team,” says Annie Ortmeier, Co-President of Triple Tigers Records. “As great of an artist as he is, he is an even better person and we are ready to help him make an indelible impact on country music.”
“Shane might be one of the most legitimate country artists in the format’s future. His songs are authentic, his lifestyle real, and his personality is infectious,” adds Kevin Herring, Co-President of Triple Tigers Records.
“It’s crazy to think that six years ago I first decided to pick up a guitar and started songwriting soon after,” says Profitt. “I can tell you first-hand this business has never ending highs and lows, but Triple Tigers and my new management have made this an all-time high for me and it’s only up from here. I’m truly so blessed and excited for everyone to hear what I have coming next!”
