The Kernersville, N.C., native is making the most of his time on the road opening for Florida Georgia Line, using the tour to promote his single, “Broken Windshield View.” Prior to each tour stop, Lane and his team head out to Country radio stations in the area, often visiting three or four radio stations per day.
Lane performed an acoustic version of the song for
MusicRow staff during a recent visit to the
MusicRow offices.
“I was working in landscaping with my dad. My truck, which we used in the video for ‘Broken Windshield View,’ had a broken windshield in it, so I feel like I’ve lived this song,” Lane says of the single, which was penned by
Rodney Clawson, Shane Minor, and
David Lee Murphy.
He’s also in the studio with producer
Joey Moi (Jake Owen, Florida Georgia Line), working on his first EP.
Lane also performed “Waste It,” a tune he calls one of his favorites from his upcoming project. “Waste It” was penned by Clawson,
Ashley Gorley, and
Chris DeStefano. Lane says the song was good enough to cause him to give up his beloved, well-worn Atlanta Braves ballcap.
“I would always wear that baseball cap. When I signed with Big Loud Mountain, they were like, ‘Bro, you are taking your hat off.’ This song came along and I just knew they weren’t going to take a chance on giving the song to a new artist. I told
Seth [England], ‘If you get this song for me, I’ll never wear that hat again.’ Two months later, he called and said he got it.”
Lane closed out his three-song acoustic performance with “Saturday Night.” At each tour stop, the singer-songwriter’s brand of rock-infused Country gets a welcome reception from an audience that grew up with an appreciation for an array of musical styles. “At the concerts, you see people in cowboy hats, and they know every word to Nelly’s songs,” comments Lane.

Dick Clark Productions Names COO/ CFO

Amy Thurlow has been named Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for dick clark productions, the company that produces the Academy of Country Music Awards.
She will be based at DCP’s Santa Monica headquarters and report directly to Pres. Mike Mahan.
Thurlow most recently served as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Sales Strategy for TV Guide Network, a CBS/Lionsgate partnership, based in New York and Los Angeles. Prior to serving as CFO and EVP, she held several positions within the company, including Senior Vice President, Sales Strategy and Planning.
Earlier in Thurlow’s career, she joined NBC Universal as Manager of Corporate Staff Finance in 1998 and worked her way up to Finance Director of Film and TV Distribution. She began her career at the General Electric Corporation.

Rdio Premium Users Can Stream Full Tracks From Shazam App
/by Jessica NicholsonAfter Shazam identifies a track, Rdio Unlimited subscribers can listen to the entire song without leaving Shazam’s app. Rdio Unlimited is available for $14.99/month in the U.S. Additionally, Shazam will now integrate into a Rdio subscriber’s playlists. The app automatically adds songs it identifies to a playlist titled “Your Shazamed Tracks.” Users can then choose to add these songs to other Rdio playlists.
“Shazaming a song is just the beginning of a listener’s journey,” Daniel Danker, Shazam’s chief product officer, said in a blog post. “Now, in partnership with Rdio, fans can listen to the music they discover without even leaving the app, making Shazam a terrific place to enjoy great music.”
The update also includes enhanced Facebook sharing.
This update is available iOS, with an update for Android launching in the next few days. Additional streaming services will be added and announced in the coming weeks.
Registration Open For 15th Annual Miller Harris Golf Tournament

Check-in will begin at 8 a.m., and allows golfers to enjoy a continental breakfast and socializing time before the Shotgun Start at 10 a.m.
1) Download and complete the Registration Form and mail with your check to: Miller Harris Foundation, P.O. Box 331203, Nashville, TN 37203-7511. If registering as an individual player, indicate the team you are requesting on the Registration Form or you can be placed on a team. If registering as a team by the mail-in form, please check the box on the registration form and list all team members and method of payment for each.
2) Complete the Registration Form online and pay with either PayPal or by credit card (via Paypal). Simply fill out all players names and emails on the Checkout page.
Everyone participating in the tournament (including volunteers) must sign the Consent and Release Agreement (available at Check-In) before going to the course.
Organized by family and friends in memory of Miller Harris (a rising music publisher who died at age 25 from an asthma attack in 1999), proceeds from the annual golf tournament fund the Miller Harris Asthma Camp for Kids. The camp is organized in partnership with Monroe Carell, Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, and the Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center on Percy Priest Lake to benefit inner-city asthmatic children of Middle Tennessee.

Jennifer Shaffer
Streamsound Records has added Jennifer Shaffer as Northeast Manager of Promotion. She will report directly to VP of National Promotion and Strategic Marketing Teddi Bonadies, effective July 28. Additionally, Streamsound’s Eric Beggs will continue to work with the label as an independent and will work his region until Shaffer joins the team.

BMI Nashville recognized the success of songwriter Tom Shapiro during a luncheon at Nashville restaurant The Palm on July 8. To celebrate Shapiro signing with Warner/Chappell, BMI also presented him with several Million Performance certificates for writing the hits “If Your Heart Ain’t Busy Tonight” (2 million), “Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You” (2 million), “No Place That Far” (2 million), “Perfect” (2 million), “Time Is Love” (1 million), and “Why Wait” (1 million).
Shapiro’s catalog has earned him more than 100 million radio performances, a tally shared by artists and songwriters including Elton John, Paul McCartney, Paul Simon and Barry Gibb.

Cowboy Jack Clement's Final Album Out Today Via I.R.S. Records
/by Sarah SkatesClement was 82 when he finished the album that features John Prine, Emmylou Harris, Bobby Bare, Duane Eddy, T Bone Burnett, Vince Gill, Marty Stuart, Rodney Crowell, Buddy Miller, Dan Auerbach, Leon Russell, Gillian Welch, Dave Rawlings, Dickie Lee, Shawn Camp, Dierks Bentley, Jim Rooney, Jim Lauderdale, Will Oldham, and daughter Alison Clement. Clement died last year at age 82.
The project is produced by longtime cohort Dave “Fergie” Ferguson and Matt Sweeney with T Bone Burnett as executive producer.
There are only three Cowboy Jack Clement records. He released his first solo album All I Want To Do In Life in 1978, when he was in his late 40s. The follow-up came with 2004’s Guess Things Happen That Way.
Clement was known as a producer and songwriter. He was Charley Pride’s longtime producer and the first to record Jerry Lee Lewis and Roy Orbison at Sun Records in Memphis. He co-produced U2’s “Angel of Harlem” and “When Love Comes To Town.” A friend of Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jennings, he produced Jennings’ Dreaming My Dreams album.
“What an honor it is to be involved with Cowboy’s final record. This is the perfect way to start I.R.S. Nashville,” Grady says. “All the producers and musicians set the tone for this record. Sometimes we should all get together and do the right thing. I hope Jack is proud of us.”
Brooks, Yearwood To Launch World Tour on Sept. 4
/by Jessica NicholsonGarth Brooks is set to launch his comeback world tour at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., on Thursday, Sept. 4. The show will also feature Trisha Yearwood. Tickets go on sale Friday, July 25 at 10 a.m.
“As an entertainer, you get asked a lot ‘what are the best cities to play?’ Without hesitation, I rattle five or six of the best places to play and that list always includes Chicago. It is the perfect city to launch the World Tour!” said Brooks.
There will be a six ticket limit per purchase. They can be purchased at ticketmaster.com, 1-800-745-3000 or Ticketmaster Express 1-866-448-7849. There will be no sales at the venue box office or Ticketmaster outlets on July 25.
Nearly nine million viewers tuned in for his CBS special Live From Las Vegas on Nov. 29, 2013. His boxed set Blame It All On My Roots debuted the same day, marking his 13th time at No. 1 on the Country charts, and his ninth time at the top of the Billboard 200 chart.
Garth Brooks Confirms Ireland Dates Are Canceled
/by Jessica Nicholson“I have always been advised to NEVER send a message in ‘the moment.’ It is said it is best to take a walk, wait awhile, and think about it,” Brooks said via a statement. “With that said, I just received the news the Irish council cannot change their earlier ruling to not allow the licenses for all five shows. To say I am crushed is an understatement. All I see is my mother’s face and I hear her voice. She always said things happen for a reason and for the right reason. As hard as I try, I cannot see the light on this one. So it is with a broken heart, I announce the ticket refunds for the event will go as posted by Ticketmaster.
“I want to thank the Irish authorities for going the distance for all of us who wanted to share songs and dance together. I really want to thank all the people around the world that continued to think good thoughts that this would actually happen. Most of all, to Peter Aiken and those 400,000 people who believed enough to go through what they have been through to get to this point…I love you, always have, always will. I encourage any and all of them that can come see the show, at some point around the world, to bring your Irish flags and wave them proudly at the concerts. I will be looking for you.…garth.”
Last week, during a press conference announcing his new album, tour, and partnership with Sony Music, Brooks took time to express his desire to hold all five concerts in Ireland. Brooks addressed the situation saying, “[Today is] a day of joy, but it is also under a cloud.” At the time, Brooks said his equipment and crew were still en route to the shows, and that he was optimistic there would be a last minute allowance by the Irish council.
Some Brooks fans may still find today to be one of joy, as Atlanta fan Andy Roberts just confirmed that Brooks will launch his world tour in Chicago.
