Kimberly’s Simply Southern to the Cooking Channel
Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town is bringing her cooking show Kimberly’s Simply Southern to the Cooking Channel beginning July 18. She’s appearing on The Talk this afternoon (1 p.m. CST) to chat about her series and feature some dishes from her cookbook.
During the season premiere this weekend (July 18), Schlapman learns the secrets to perfect ribs from a Nashville pitmaster before smoking up some of her own with special guest Kix Brooks. Future episodes will feature Schlapman traveling to locales like Miami, Louisville, and Cajun country, and cooking up some food and fun with Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott (fresh fish), Billy Currington (hot chicken), Jewel (shrimp), and more.

Colt Ford Digs Joe Dirt
Colt Ford makes his major motion picture performance debut in Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser performing his song, “Diggin.” The film, which is the first-ever, made-for-digital sequel to a major motion picture, premiered on Crackle, the streaming television network, July 16. Hollywood insiders got a sneak peek of the film at the Los Angeles world premiere June 24 at Sony Pictures Studios. “When David Spade reached out about performing, ‘Diggin’, in the sequel, I was stoked, “ commented Ford. “The original Joe Dirt is hilarious, and is still one of my favorites. I’m a big fan of David Spade.”

The Kentucky Headhunters Host Nashville Album Release Party
The Kentucky Headhunters will celebrate the release of their new blues album with a concert on Thursday, July 23 at 3rd and Lindsley. Meet Me In Bluesland (Alligator Records) was released June 2 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Blues Chart. The project features Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Johnnie Johnson, known for his groundbreaking piano work with Chuck Berry. Listen to select tracks via Soundcloud. The CD release show starts at 8 p.m. and is open to the public. Tickets are $10.
The Kentucky Headhunters are celebrating 25 years since their album, Pickin’ On Nashville (Mercury Records), sold over two million copies and garnered a GRAMMY Award, and multiple CMA Awards.

Toby Keith To Release ’35 mph Town’ In October
/by Lorie HollabaughThe new collection was co-produced by Keith and Bobby Pinson, and includes guitar by Kenny Greenberg, (who often plays with Keith’s pop-up band, the Incognito Banditos) and backing vocals by band member Mica Roberts.
Brandy Clark, Bob DiPiero, and Shane McAnally penned the collection’s debut single, “Drunk Americans,” and songwriters Pinson, Scotty Emerick, and Rivers Rutherford also have cuts on the new project. The title track has climbed to No. 16 on this week’s CountryBreakout chart.
Yesterday (July 16) Keith invited Bobby Bones and his band the Raging Idiots to open his Good Times & Pick Up Lines Tour in Washington D.C. The August 8 stop will offer attendees the ability to purchase limited-edition Toby and Raging Idiots T’s with all proceeds going to benefit the USO.
Last month as Keith was inducted into New York’s Songwriters Hall of Fame and the month prior raised $1.2 million during his golf classic for charity, supporting families of children with pediatric cancer.

NSAI Opens Ballot for ’10 Songs I Wish I’d Written,’ ‘Song of The Year’

ParkerThe 2015 ballot will be sent from the organization to eligible members through July 31, featuring Nashville-associated songs from several categories: Country, Pop, Christian, Rock and Alternative. Ballot-eligible singles must have entered the Top 20 on Billboard Airplay of their respective charts between July 1, 2014, and June 30, 2015, and must not have been awarded during the previous year’s ceremony.
Awards will be distributed during the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony on October 11, honoring recently announced talent including Rosanne Cash, Mark James, Even Stevens and Craig Wiseman.
During the event, NSAI will also recognize it’s Songwriter-Artist of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year.
Ashley Monroe’s ‘The Blade’ Previews Ahead of Schedule On NPR

Henley to Play Nashville During New Album Tour

Earlier this year, Henley previewed the partial-country project, which features guest stars like Mick Jagger, Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, and Miranda Lambert. “I can truthfully say, I enjoyed making this record more than any record I’ve made in my career because of the people who participated,” said Henley about recording the new CD. “John Sebastian was dead right in 1965 or 1966 when he wrote that song ‘Nashville Cats.’ It’s still true all these years later.
