Chris Stapleton Postpones Tour Dates, Cancels CMA Music Festival Appearance

Chris Stapleton has announced that he has postponed the upcoming three weeks of tour dates on his The All-American Road Show, including shows in California, Mississippi, Alabama and more.

Additionally, his appearance during CMA Music Festival on Sunday, June 11 has been canceled for Nashville. A replacement for Stapleton’s CMA Music Festival slot has not yet been announced. Stapleton’s publicist had no additional details for the postponed and canceled appearances.

Fans are asked to hold on to their tickets to the postponed shows on The All-American Road Show for now. A list of postponed shows is below:

June 1 – Fresno, CA – Save Mart Center
June 2 – Mt. View, CA – Shoreline Amphitheatre
June 3 – Wheatland, CA – Toyota Amphitheatre
June 9 – Southaven, MS – Bankplus Amphitheater at Snowden Grove

The Route 91 Harvest Powered By SiriusXM Festival has announced the lineup for its “Next From Nashville SiriusXM Highway Finds Stage.” Drew Baldridge, Kelleigh Bannen, Bailey Bryan, Luke Combs, Adam Craig, LANCO, Jackie Lee, Ashley McBryde, Walker McGuire, Muscadine Bloodline, Dylan Schneider, Dylan Scott, Smithfield, Sun, Morgan Wallen, Drake White and The Big Fire will all appear at the fourth annual festival, which takes place at the Las Vegas Village Sept. 29 – Oct. 1.

Charlie Daniels’ The Journey Home Project Supports SHARE Military Initiative

Charlie Daniels‘ The Journey Home Project has teamed with The Shepherd’s Men Run to raise awareness and funds for the SHARE Military Initiative and Shepherd Center, a rehabilitation program that focuses on assessment and treatment for service men and women who have sustained a mild to moderate brain injury, along with co-occurring PTSD or other mental health concerns, from service in post-9/11 conflicts.

BMI songwriters LOCASH and Maggie Rose provided the entertainment for BMI’s recent Rooftop Series show on May 23, the first in BMI’s Summer Rooftop Concert Series. LOCASH were also honored with a Million-Air Award, for one million radio spins of “You’re Gonna Fly,” a song they wrote which was recorded by Keith Urban.

Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker, Charles Kelley To Honor Gregg Allman On CMT Music Awards

Responding to the request from artists who wanted to honor Gregg Allman‘s musical legacy, the CMT Music Awards have added a special tribute to Allman featuring Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker and Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley to the upcoming awards telecast on June 7. Additional participating artists will be announced soon.

“Gregg Allman and The Allman Brothers Band helped create the bedrock foundation of modern southern music,” said CMT President Brian Philips. “Over the weekend of his death, CMT’s most important artists reached out to see how we might honor Gregg at our awards. This tribute will celebrate Gregg Allman’s soul, charisma and enduring artistry. ‘The Road Goes On Forever,’ indeed.”

CMT also revealed today that Kelsea Ballerini (who is tied for the most CMT Music Awards nominations) and Little Big Town have been added to the lineup of performers. They join a growing list including a first time TV performance by The Chainsmokers and Florida Georgia Line, a Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood duet, a collaboration from Earth, Wind & Fire and Lady Antebellum, and performances by Blake Shelton, Brett Eldredge, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert and Thomas Rhett.  Show presenters will be announced next week.

 

NASH Next Talent Search Kicks Off Today

The NASH Next 2017 national talent search competition kicks off today (May 31) in over 60 markets across the U.S. Now in its third year, the annual grassroots search for the next rising country star is led by Cumulus Media and offers one lucky winner a record deal with NASH Next Records under the Big Machine Label Group and exposure on Cumulus radio stations nationwide.

Beginning today, local artists may enter the competition via the NASH Next website. Seventy-nine NASH/Cumulus stations in 62 markets will conduct local searches, with national participation made possible by Cumulus’ digital properties and syndicated country shows. Local markets will host live events or select their finalist by judging the contestants in a video performance of an original song, and then local winners will move on to the national challenge, where they will submit a live performance video showcasing their best original song. The top ten artists will be selected by industry professionals, and those national finalists will then compete at a live concert event hosted in Nashville in early November, where the panel of celebrity judges will select the NASH Next 2017 winner.

The winner of the five month national competition will be announced by Garth Brooks. NASH Next’s 2016 winner, Todd O’Neill, released his debut single “Love Again” in April and broke the top 50 on the country charts in early May, with his single continuing to climb the charts.

Cumulus listeners and local music industry professionals in their communities will first judge emerging artists in the competition, and finalists and the ultimate winner will be selected by a panel of judges including President/CEO Big Machine Label Group Scott Borchetta, Kix Brooks, and additional celebrity judges who will be announced at a later date.

Downtown Nashville Road Closures Announced For 2017 CMA Music Festival

The CMA Music Festival has announced road closures that will affect downtown Nashville traffic from June 1- June 13. Road closures will begin Thursday, June 1 at 7 a.m. and last until Tuesday, June 13 at 3 p.m.

The closures are due to this year’s festival lineup of hundreds of established and rising artists. The coveted Nissan Stadium stage will include performances from artists including Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, Kelsea Ballerini, Florida Georgia Line, Trace Adkins and more.

 

Closures beginning Thursday, June 1:

7:00 AM – The northbound lane cutout of First Avenue will be closed from Broadway to Church Streets (reopens Thursday, June 1 by 7:00 PM).
7:00 AM – The First Avenue train station cutout will be closed (reopens Tuesday, June 13 at 3:00 PM).
9:00 AM – The northbound lane of Fifth Avenue will be closed from Demonbreun to Broadway (reopens Thursday, June 1 by 3:00 PM).

Closures beginning Sunday, June 4:

6:00 AM – Fifth Avenue will be closed from Demonbreun to Broadway (reopens Monday, June 12 by 4:00 PM).

Musician and former Glee cast member Noah Guthrie recently stopped by the MusicRow offices to perform songs from his latest project, Love You Now. He offered “The Valley,” as well as a new take on the Prince classic “I Would Die 4 U.”

“It’s a crazy awesome love song, with great lyrics, but they get lost in the dance mix,” Guthrie said. “I wanted to draw that out, so I slowed the song down.”

Jerry Duncan Promotions, an independent country record promotion company which focuses on small and medium market radio promotion, has moved and is now located at 1617 17th Ave. S. in Nashville. The company has been in business since 1982.

Music publishing company Deluge Music, founded by Mark Friedman, David Robkin, and Larry Mazer, with offices in Los Angeles and Nashville, is now located at 1114 17th Ave S. #103.

Last year, the company signed a co-publishing deal with Emily West. Deluge Music writer Oran Thorton co-produced Angaleena Presley’s latest album, Wrangled, and contributed to two tracks on the album. The roster also includes Brennin (who earned a cut on Vince Gill’s last album and released the single “Rip Off The Rearview”), Kevin Savigar (who co-wrote/co-produced Rod Stewart’s Another Country album), Christine Connolly (currently co-writing with Theory of a Deadman’s album), Smithfield (who recently took part in the national Highway Finds tour), Mason Thornley, and Susan Ruth.

 

 

 

Troy Tomlinson To Receive 2017 Inspiration Award During Inspire Nashville Gala

Inspire Nashville, benefiting The Onsite Foundation, honors and celebrates the premiere leaders of Nashville’s creative community who use their platforms to support and impact humanitarian efforts locally and around the world. The Inspire Nashville event includes musical performances, heartfelt speakers, and moving moments highlighting the city’s silent heroes who make the world a better place.

John Dorris, Mike Kraski Form New Vision Artist Management

Music industry veterans John Dorris and Mike Kraski have partnered to form New Vision Artist Management, and are currently seeking and evaluating signings to the roster.

John Dorris, Sr. began his career as a tax accountant for Price Waterhouse and Lin Broadcasting Corporation, before later serving as head of Business Affairs for Monument Records and Combine Music Publishing. In 1983, Dorris opened Hallmark Direction Company with Don Williams as his initial client. John Michael Montgomery, Doug Stone, Montgomery Gentry, Blake Shelton, Mark Wills, Leslie Satcher, The Whites, Dean Dillon, and many others have or have had a home at Hallmark Direction Company. Dorris served on the Academy of Country Music’s Board of Directors for more than 20 years and earned the ACM’s Mae Boren Axton Award in 2010.

Kraski began his career in sales and distribution at CBS Records before transitioning to Sony Music Nashville, where he rose to Exec VP/GM for the Nashville division. During his years with Sony, he worked with Dixie Chicks, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette, Patty Loveless, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Montgomery Gentry and Travis Tritt, among others. In 2003, Kraski launched Equity Records, the early home of vocal group Little Big Town. Since 2007, Mike has worked in artist management, consulting and music publishing at Tenacity Management and at M-Pact Music Group. Mike has served for 20 years as a member of the Academy of Country Music’s board of directors.

“When you say the name John Dorris, three words come to mind; success, integrity and experience. It’s an honor for me to be working together with a man I’ve admired for as long as I’ve been here in Nashville,” said Kraski.

Dorris adds, “In today’s world, artists need managers to better support label efforts and, at times, to perform the role of the label. With Mike’s success at both Sony and Equity, his experience, combined with mine, makes for a very strong team.”

Dorris’ Hallmark Direction Company will remain in operation separately from the newly announced co-venture.
