The Museum of Christian & Gospel Music will host a special pop-up exhibit, celebrating the release of Amy Grant’s new album, The Me That Remains.

The project marks Grant’s first collection of all-original songs in 13 years, and reflects on healing, connection, endurance and grace.

The exhibit will showcase Wayne Brezinka’s original mixed-media artwork created for the cover of the album. Reflecting themes of memory and reconstruction, the piece was assembled from meaningful fragments of Grant’s life, including pieces of a treasured quilt, seashells from her collection, her childhood Bible, and an article about her grandfather.

The exhibit will also feature Grant’s 1994 Pax Christi Award, accompanied by congratulatory letters from six U.S. presidents, the original Western Union telegram sent to her college dorm announcing her first Grammy nomination, rare photographs captured by Mark Pleasant and more.

Across her career, Grant has garnered more than 2.2 billion global streams, sold over 30 million albums worldwide, and became the first artist in Contemporary Christian Music to achieve a platinum record, reach No. 1 on the pop charts, and perform at the Grammy Awards.

The Amy Grant Pop-Up Exhibit will be included with museum admission.

Vince Gill Drops Soulful New EP ‘Nobody Held Her Like Me’

Vince Gill embraces his love for the blues on his latest EP, Nobody Held Her Like Me, the seventh volume in his monthly 50 Years From Home EP series.

“I love soul music,” Gill explains. “I’ve loved the soulful side of music forever, whether it’s Ray Charles or Bruno Mars. George Jones was as soulful a singer as anybody who ever lived. I heard a lot of blues music from my big brother. I would hear Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, people like that. To me, in some ways, it’s all blues. I’m just drawn to it.”

Nobody Held Her Like Me kicks off with a melodic title track in the vein of the Eagles’ “I Can’t Tell You Why,” which Gill co-wrote with Joe Glaser and Jimmy Nalls. It’s another love song in his vast repertoire.

“Joe is the guy in Nashville who fixes everyone’s guitars. He asked me if he could bring Jimmy, a ‘great guitarist,’ over to the house,” recalls Gill. “He mentioned that Jimmy was struggling with Parkinson’s. The three of us spent the day together and talked about what Jimmy missed about being a musician. It inspired a guitar lick that I came up with. Eventually Jimmy passed away and I wanted to give both Jimmy and Joe credit for the lick they’d inspired that day.”

Gill penned the laid-back broken-heart track Back When My World Was Blue” with Ernest and Chandler Walters. “Goin’ To Tampa” takes it to the honky-tonk with the help of co-writers “Big Al” Anderson and McKinley James. Anderson plays acoustic guitar on the track, which features a hot piano ride by John Jarvis. Tearjerker “I Cried All the Way to Memphis,” a first-time collaboration with Patrick Droney, features backing vocals from Maggie Rose.

Just in time for Mother’s Day, “Mama’s Gone to Heaven” cranks up the tempo in a hand-clapping direction marked by piano by Gordon Mote and a stinging guitar solo by Gill. The song was inspired by a conversation with John Parks, who works in the clubhouse at Gill’s regular golf course. “I’m On To You” brings things back to mellow and more heartbreak as Gill heads back into that lane with co-writer Harper O’Neill. It also features America’s Got Talent finalist Lamont Landers, a blue-eyed soul singer from Alabama Gill discovered from online performance posts.

Gill caps Nobody Held Her Like Me with one of his previous hits, “Whenever You Come Around,” which hit No. 2 on the Billboard Country charts as the first single from his When Love Finds You album in 1994. The cover art for Nobody Held Her Like Me features two Fender Stratocasters owned by Gill: one is a 1959 Gill bought from the son of Duane Eddy, who originally purchased the guitar, and the other is refinished 1965 model he bought for $200 and a pair of boots from his late best friend and longtime guitar tech, Benny Garcia.

Commemorating his departure from his native Oklahoma to begin his music career, Gill has been releasing a new EP each month, drawing from songs he has accumulated during the past few years, with each collection built around a unifying theme. During this time he continues to play with the Eagles, including a run of stadium shows as part of its “The Long Goodbye, Act III Tour,” as well as solo dates that resume in June and run through August.

Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation & Doris Day Animal Foundation Award More Than $230,000 In Grants

Miranda Lambert. Photo: Jeff Johnson

Miranda Lambert‘s MuttNation Foundation’s “It Takes Balls” spay and neuter campaign, in partnership with the Doris Day Animal Foundation, has awarded $233,000 to 63 eligible shelters, rescues and clinics throughout Southern California.

“Shelters do incredible work, saving millions of lives,” says Lambert, “but our big dream is a world where they don’t need saving. Our partnership with the Doris Day Animal Foundation is helping make that a reality by reaching thousands of pets through spay and neuter. It’s the best tool we have – alongside adoption and fostering – to keep our best friends out of shelters and in loving homes.”

“Early in her pioneering animal welfare efforts, Doris Day recognized that spaying and neutering is essential to addressing the root cause of pet overpopulation and ultimately saves countless lives,” shares Dr. Bob Bashara, CEO of the Doris Day Animal Foundation. “Through our partnership with MuttNation Foundation, these grants will help provide affordable access to spay and neuter services in communities where resources may be limited and access to veterinary care can be challenging. By supporting these efforts, we can help reduce shelter overcrowding and give more dogs and cats the chance for the safe, loving homes they deserve.”

Belmont Breaks Ground On New Curb College Facility On Music Row

Belmont University has broken ground on the new Curb College Facility at 15 Music Circle South, expanding the Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music Business’s Music Row footprint with an industry-immersive learning center.

The building will feature audio engineering labs, a content capture and podcast production studio, a multi-function ballroom, and a dedicated band practice space. It will also house the Center for Mental Health in Entertainment, made possible through support from the Country Music Association, offering resources and programming across music, film, TV and sports.

The project was made possible by a $58 million lead gift from Mike and Linda Curb and the Mike Curb Foundation, the largest gift in Belmont’s history. The facility, designed by ESa and constructed by R.C. Matthews, reflects both the history of Music Row and Belmont’s commitment to the industry it has served for half a century.

“Fifty years ago, the music industry came to Belmont with a need, and Belmont said yes,” says Belmont University President Dr. Greg Jones. “That instinct has always been at the heart of who we are: a university that believes education is about more than career preparation. It is about forming people of character who go into their industries and make them better. We break ground today because we believe the best of this industry is still ahead, and we intend to help build it.”

“Music Row has been at the center of everything we do and preserving it for future generations has always been a priority,” says Mike Curb, chairman and owner of Curb Records, and namesake of Belmont’s College of Entertainment & Music Business. “Belmont has been an extraordinary partner in making sure the next generation of music industry leaders are ready to carry this industry forward. This building is an investment in that future, and I could not be prouder to see it become part of Music Row’s story.”

Located near the heart of Nashville, Belmont University consists of nearly 9,000 students who come from every state and 33 countries. The University is nationally recognized for its innovative approach as well as its commitment to undergraduate teaching, and with more than 115 areas of undergraduate study, 41 master’s programs and eight doctoral degrees, aims to be the leading Christ-centered university in the world.
