
Lee Brice will release his fourth album for Curb Records on Nov. 3. The self-titled, 15-song project features the single “Boy,” as well as tracks including “Story To Tell,” co-written with Edwin McCain and Phillip Lammonds.
“My hero came to my garage, and we wrote two songs,” Brice says of McCain. “Before I came to town, I knew Edwin McCain and his music; went to his concert every year at the House of Blues. Those records, I knew by heart growing up… and he has a lot of the same Southern influences. He knows those same things that matter to me, they’re in his music.”
Brice plays the majority of lead guitar on the album, and co-wrote 11 of the album’s tracks.
“When I started, I wanted this record to be groovy, stripped down to the message and the feel. There are no computer tricks, no artificial sounds. Songs that are pleasing to the heart — songs that make you feel something in your heart — they don’t need all that stuff,” Brice says. “Even when it sounds like a computer, I promise, we figured out a way to make that sound. To me, being real was everything. I wanted to put a little piece of everything about me, everything I am on this record. No two songs are about the same things, but somehow it all hangs together.”

The Bass Brothers Sign With BMI

The Bass Brothers stopped by the BMI Nashville offices following their recent move from the UK to affiliate as songwriters. The British trio has roots in the pop world and recorded several albums on Universal in their early days before making the move to Nashville.

Rend Collective Shares ‘Good News’ This January

The first single from the anticipated project, “Rescuer (Good News),” has already been released to radio and the song’s video on Youtube has reached 1.1M views. Hailing from a small town off the coast of Northern Ireland, Rend Collective (Gareth Gilkeson, Chris Llewellyn, Ali Gilkeson, Patrick Thompson and Stephen Mitchell) have sold more than 300,000 albums since the release of their debut album, Organic Family Hymnal.
The album announcement comes after the group kicked off their headlining “Good News North American Tour Pt. 1” to a sold-out crowd in Philadelphia last night. Hitting 26 markets throughout the U.S. and Canada, the band has already sold-out other major markets including Toronto, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary, Vancouver, and more.

Grand Ole Opry member Brad Paisley headlined a very special Sunday Night Opry performance on Oct. 1 in support of Band Against Cancer with Sarah Cannon. Marking the organization’s second annual Grand Ole Opry event, the show also featured performances by Lauren Alaina, Bobby Bare, Chase Bryant, Tyler Farr, Mickey Guyton, Jeannie Seely, and new duo, The Sisterhood.
The evening was part of Paisley’s ongoing role as lead ambassador for Band Against Cancer, for which he has teamed up with Sarah Cannon, the Cancer Institute of HCA Healthcare, to educate communities on the many ways that everyone can take action to prevent, fight and survive cancer today.
Jamey Johnson’s Homecoming Golf Tournament

Jamey Johnson and Friends hosted its sixth annual golf tournament and concert on Oct. 1 to benefit the Nikki Mitchell Foundation and pancreatic cancer patients. Organized by Rhonda Miles of the Nikki Mitchell Foundation, the benefit was held at Cottonwood Golf Course in Montgomery, Alabama and raised more than $200,000. Congratulations to all the fans, friends and artists for their support in making this such a successful event.

Logan Mize has signed with United Talent Agency for worldwide representation. Mize has also been tapped as an opener for Cam on her upcoming 2017 Best Coast Tour. The tour kicks off Nov. 28 at the iconic Madonna Inn and includes stops up and down the West Coast.

Dark Horse Institute Adds Three

Audio engineering, production and music business school Dark Horse Institute has announced three new appointments.
Tom Willett has been named President, reporting to Founder & CEO Robin Crow. Willett toured and recorded extensively during the ‘60s and ‘70s, served as a booking agent and personal manager in Nashville for numerous artists in the ‘80s, and worked as an A&R executive and marketing VP at major labels in Los Angeles (Word/ABC; What?/A&M) and New York (Word/Epic/Sony Music) throughout the ‘90s. In 2001, he co-founded the Contemporary Music Center, the nation’s first artists’ colony for musicians on the Island of Martha’s Vineyard, MA where he served as Creative Director of the fully-accredited music school for musicians, engineers and entrepreneurs. After relocating to Nashville in 2010, he served as an Adjunct Professor at the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business at Belmont University before becoming Director of Education at Dark Horse Institute.
Cathy Baird has been appointed Vice President of Academic Operations. Formerly Institutional Director at DHI, Baird has worked in the field of college admissions and operations for more than 14 years, including as Director of Enrollment of the Chef’s Academy at Harrison College, and Director of Admissions at Daymar College and Southwestern College, both in Kentucky. Baird holds degrees in Business Administration and Management from Volunteer State Community College and Triton College in Illinois.
Jamie Nehasil has joined the Music Business faculty at Dark Horse Institute. Nehasil brings decades of entertainment business experience to DHI students, having formerly served as Owner and President of Common Grounds Entertainment, VP of Strategic Partnerships at Black Fuel Music/220 Entertainment Group, and Director of Music and Marketing at Tri Star Sports and Entertainment Group. He holds the MBA from the Massey Graduate School of Business at Belmont University, a BGS in Business Management and Marketing from the University of Minnesota, and sits on the board of Franklin-based The Jam Camp.

THiS Music / Warner Chappell Nashville have signed Chris Stevens, a four-time Grammy-winning producer and songwriter from Eugene, Oregon. Stevens has worked with many of the top artists in Christian music including TobyMac, Mandisa and Colton Dixon.
Stevens did keyboard/programming work on the Carrie Underwood hit “Cowboy Cassanova,” and provided instrumental and programming work on Blake Shelton’s Red River Blue album. Stevens also has co-writing credits on Morgan Wallen’s EP The Way I Talk, and Lindsay Ell’s The Project, among others.
He’s a three-time BMI Christian Songwriter Of The Year Winner and a 12-time Dove Award recipient. Stevens’ songs can be found on current and upcoming country projects by Jason Aldean, Drew Baldridge, Justin Moore and Logan Mize.
