Mae Estes Slates Self-Titled EP For October
/by Lorie HollabaughRising singer-songwriter Mae Estes will release her self-titled EP on October 10 via Big Machine Records.
In a just-released new track from the upcoming project, “Drunk On That,” Estes finds herself with an overwhelming list of reasons to drink away the hurt following the end of a relationship. Sitting in the despair ultimately leads to flashes of defining moments of the relationship that she’d rather forget, vinyl records, packed bags, a diamond ring, which act as a catalyst to go off the deep end and overindulge.
“My buddy Chancie Neal used to play ‘Drunk On That’ in songwriter rounds years ago and I never forgot about it. It was one of those spins on a simple phrase that country music is so good at,” says Estes. “In the studio, our reference track for this one was ‘Neon Moon.’ Lonnie Wilson, who played drums on this song, then informed us he played drums in the same studio with the same snare for ‘Neon Moon.’ Stories like that are my favorite! I’m grateful to get to release my version of this country tune.”
The album is comprised of five tracks includes “Mr. Fix It,” “Mountain Of A Man,” “Drunk On That” and two never-before-released songs, “I Better Go” and “What She’s Havin’.”
“The timing of this EP is so exciting for me! I’ve been having the time of my life finding the folks who love the same kinda Country music I do,” says Estes. “Me and the band have been touring the country and really finding our people this year. I’m stoked to give ‘em a few more tunes to go turn up!”
Mae Estes Track List:
1. “Mr. Fix It” (Mae Estes, Marti Dodson, Jaida Dreyer, Alex Kline)
2. “Drunk On That” (Jay Brunswick, Josh Dunne, Chancie Neal)
3. “Mountain Of A Man” (Jon Decious, Lauren McLamb, Liz Rose, Paul Sikes)
4. “I Better Go” (Mae Estes, Brice Long, Paul Sikes)
5. “What She’s Havin’” (Mae Estes, Aaron Goodvin, Faren Rachels)

On The Row: Preston Cooper Shares Songs & Stories From Debut Album
/by Lauryn SinkPreston Cooper. Photo: David McClister
Preston Cooper recently stopped by the MusicRow offices to share a few songs and stories ahead of the release of his debut album. Fresh off a performance at Red Rocks Amphitheater on the road with Riley Green, the Ohio native released his album Toledo Talkin’ on Aug. 29.
Pictured (L-R): MusicRow’s Lauryn Sink and John Nix Arledge, Preston Cooper, MusicRow’s LB Cantrell and Madison Hahnen.
Inspired by the sounds of Bob Segar, Chris Stapleton and Stevie Ray Vaughn, two years ago, Cooper was discovered by The Warren Brothers while playing a benefit show in Ohio, and they later invited him to Nashville to write with them. A few months later he moved to Music City and signed a record deal with The Valory Music Co.
Cooper kicked off his visit with “One More Place I’ve Never Been,” joking that the list of places he has never been is quickly getting shorter. He continued with “Weak” and wrapped the set with the reflective title track to the project “Toledo Talkin’.”
Recently named an iHeartRadio On The Verge Artist, he is set to make his Grand Ole Opry debut on Oct. 24.
“To be invited by the Opry to play there, it is hard to explain the feeling because it doesn’t feel real. Two years ago I was literally playing bars in my hometown, and the Opry just felt like 10 years down the road, if even at all,” he said of the invitation.
Cooper recently wrapped his run as direct support for Kameron Marlowe’s “Keepin’ The Lights On Tour” and select dates of Riley Green’s “Damn Country Music Tour.”
