NSAI Honors No. 1 Songs
The Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) hosted a No. 1 Party on Monday, May 13 to honor the writers of songs reaching the top spot between January and March 2013. The event, sponsored by Bill Lynch of Lynch Wealth Management, also featured several make-up presentations to writers who were unable to attend when their songs were honored previously.

XYQ Artist Management will host Q It Up Live, a star-studded concert series at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville in downtown Nashville. Concerts will be held once every other month through the end of the year. The series kicks off this Wednesday, May 15 at 7 p.m. CDT featuring Darryl Worley and supporting acts Danielle Peck, Sarah Darling, Mo Pitney and Friends of Lola. Adam Wurtzel from WSMV Channel 4 News’ More at Midday will host, and a silent auction and raffle will benefit the American Red Cross and local non-profit for the hearing impaired, Songs For Sound.
The Americana Music Association will announce the nominees for the 2013 Honors & Awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 14 at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT. The ceremony will be broadcast live from the Grammy Museum’s Clive Davis Theatre in downtown Los Angeles live on AXS TV, with a special encore presentation at 9 p.m. ET.
Warner Music Nashville will host this summer’s first Pickin’ On The Patio party on Thursday, May 23, featuring special guest The Railers. Doors open at 5 p.m. and show starts at 5:30 p.m.
Kobalt Music Group is rolling out a new interactive system for tracking royalties. The Kobalt Portal includes usage data and royalties earned on YouTube user-generated content and allows clients to watch the associated video. Kobalt plans to offer this level of transparency for all key digital service providers globally.
Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) has acquired Criterion Music Corporation and affiliated entities, it was announced today (May 7) by Zach Horowitz, Chairman & CEO, UMPG, and Bo Goldsen, President of Criterion.

Publishing company Creative Nation will partner with inner-city not-for-profit organization Preston Taylor Ministries to present a benefit concert.Songwriters Luke Laird, Barry Dean, Natalie Hemby, Maggie Chapman, Native Run, and MamaDear will perform at Puckett’s Downtown (500 Church Street) on May 29. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m.

The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) has announced the winners for its 2013 contest. The ISC grand prize was awarded to Irvine, California songwriter Joshua Hanson (Yellow Red Sparks), for his folk song “Monsters With Misdemeanors.”
Nashville Mayor Karl Dean has joined the Nashville Section of the Audio Engineering Society in recognizing “Nashville Audio Engineer Week”, May 12 – 18, to coincide with the Nashville Recording Workshop +Expo and AudioMasters Benefit Golf Tournament events taking place that same week.
