McGraw Celebrates Album Release with Partnerships
As Tim McGraw gears up for his first album release on Big Machine Records, Two Lanes of Freedom, Tuesday (Feb. 5), he will team up with his existing brand partners. Pennzoil and Outback Steakhouse will offer fans exclusive access with two unique promotional campaigns in San Diego and Louisiana, respectively.
To kick off the Pennzoil partnership, over three dozen lucky fans will board the USS Midway in San Diego Harbor for an exclusive Two Lanes of Freedom album release concert presented by Pennzoil. Following a multi-week on-air radio sweepstakes, titled “For the Love of Cars, Music & Freedom,” fans from various markets across North America will be welcomed aboard for a one-of-a-kind launch event concert with McGraw. Yahoo! Ram Country will live stream the special performance here, beginning at 7 p.m. PST on Tuesday (Feb. 5).
Outback Steakhouse will also support the new album with the “No Worries Wednesday” campaign. Over 30 fans were invited to McGraw’s home state of Louisiana and treated to VIP access during his Good Morning America performance on ABC from New Orleans. Additionally, over two dozen radio markets across the country will feature an exclusive release week promotion entitled “Five Days of Tim,” offering up five days of giveaways. Packages will include copies of Two Lanes of Freedom, tickets to McGraw’s Two Lanes of Freedom 2013 tour and Outback Steakhouse prize vouchers to experience “No Worries Wednesday,” Outback’s new complete dinner for two for $25.

The winners of the 2013 SPBGMA Fan’s Choice Awards have been announced.The 39th annual SPBGMA awards and National Convention took place on Jan. 31-Feb. 3 in Nashville.
George Jones‘ final Nashville concert of his career will take place at the Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 22, as part of his 2013 farewell tour titled The Grand Tour. Though the performance is still several months away, it is already slated to have an all-star lineup of supporters and performers. Charlie Daniels, Lorrie Morgan, Randy Travis, Jamey Johnson and Gene Watson will join previously announced guest Tanya Tucker to help honor the legendary performer.
Dwight Yoakam will headline Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium for the first time since 2005. Touring in support of his critically-acclaimed album 3 Pears, Yoakam will play the venue Friday, April 12.
Last year at MIDEM, the Global Repertoire Database (GRD) initiative was announced; this year that initiative is underway. Simply put, the GRD is a central source for copyright metadata related to music. This metadata will include the creators of these works and their ownership, control and/or administration. It is intended to solve a major problem between the music industry—particularly publishers—and digital companies because it will create one source for companies to go to in order to find out who controls a copyright and, therefore, who to seek in order to receive permission to use that work.
The NMPA has named Christopher Cylke as Sr. VP for Government Affairs at the association. Cylke will serve as the chief liaison to Capitol Hill and federal agencies, overseeing all legislative and regulatory policy development and outreach on behalf of the music publishing and songwriting industry.
