A benefit concert will be held in honor of Wayne Mills at Tin Roof Nashville on Wednesday, Dec. 4. Mills, 44, died Saturday, Nov.23, after an apparent altercation outside a Nashville bar. The event will feature artists including Eric Lee Beddingfield, Jesse Keith Whitley, Kyle Wilson, Joey Allcorn, Bert David Newton, Trent Tomlinson, Shannon Lawson, Craig Wayne Boyd, Chris Gantry, Dave Gibson and many others. The event will begin at 7:50 p.m.

Aldean, Lambert, Gilbert Set To Headline Country Thunder in 2014

CountryThunder_logo_300pxCountry Thunder Wisconsin has announced a powerhouse lineup for next year’s festival, slated for July 24-27, with Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, and Brantley Gilbert all joining the bill as headliners for the four-day country extravaganza.
“We feel it’s important to get the right mix of talent every year,” said Troy Vollhoffer, executive producer of the event. “We think we’ve gotten it right yet again. Our headliners are incredibly strong and we’ve backed them up with a good mix of hot, young talent, and classic artists who appeal to our entire demographic. We know that our fans are going to have a blast this summer!”

Gary Allan, Sawyer Brown, Craig Morgan, Mark Chesnutt, Joe Diffie, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Colt Ford, Charlie Worsham, and Will Hoge are also on the bill for the Twin Lakes show, and more artists will be announced in coming weeks. Four-day passes are available at countrythunder.com.

WMBA Presents Tunes For Tots Benefit Concert

tunes for tots111Jonathan Singleton, Trevor Rosen, Matt Ramsey, and Laura Veltz will lend their voices and songwriting talents to the Women’s Music Business Association’s annual Tunes for Tots toy drive and benefit show. The event will take place tonight (Dec. 2) at Nashville’s Dan McGuinness. The show will begin at 6:30 p.m. and admission is free with a new, unwrapped toy for the Toys for Tots Foundation, or $5. Guests can RSVP at the Tunes for Tots events page.
Representatives from the U.S. Marines will be in attendance to collect toys and donations for the Toys For Tots Foundation.
Singleton penned David Nail‘s “Red Light” and “Let It Rain,” as well as “Why Don’t We Just Dance” (recorded by Josh Turner) and “Watching Airplanes” (Gary Allan). Rosen is best-known for penning The Band Perry‘s “Better Dig Two,” Chris Young‘s “Neon,” and the tune “Fade Into You” (heard on ABC’s Nashville). Ramsey is the lead singer of Old Dominion and penned Craig Morgan‘s “Wake Up Lovin’  You”). Veltz is a writer behind Eli Young Band‘s “Drunk Last Night” and Young’s “Lonely Eyes.”

After spending nine weeks on the chart, Florida Georgia Line’s “Stay” crosses the border to No. 1 with 3175 spins. Meanwhile, Cassadee Pope’s “Wasting All These Tears” jumps to No. 2. Zac Brown Band’s “Sweet Annie” climbs to No. 3, while David Nail’s “Whatever She’s Got” leaps to No. 4. Cole Swindell’s “Chillin’ It” moves up two spots, landing at No. 5. As a result of the partnership, CMT radio personality Cody Alan has been named the new host of Premiere Networks’ syndicated show After MidNite, which has been rebranded as CMT After Midnite With Cody Alan. His show will debut on Jan. 6.

Arguably the hottest duo in music today, Florida Georgia Line, lands atop our pre-Thanksgiving MusicRow Chart with “Stay.”
With five writers, Joey Moi, John Fred Young, Chris Robertson, Jon Lawhon and Ben Wells, the title has become top-selling Country track this week, having moved a total of 371k to date.
Not only is the band moving singles, but this week also marks the release of the eagerly anticipated Here’s To The Good Times: This Is How We Roll, deluxe version of their debut album. The double-disk project includes six additional tracks, six music videos and six behind-the-scenes videos.
And talk about swag, Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard took home four CMA Awards trophies at the start of the month, in addition to winning their first American Music Award this past Sunday (Nov. 24). On top of all that, the boys are nominated for eight ACA Awards on Dec. 10; the duo is also scheduled to perform at the awards show.

Tracy Lawrence rallied the Nashville community on Tuesday (Nov. 26) during the 8th annual “Mission Possible” Turkey Fry. During the annual event, more than 500 turkeys were cooked to help feed those in need during this Thanksgiving holiday season.
“The real heroes are the volunteers,” said Tracy Lawrence. “I am so humbled each year by the outpouring of support from the community, to the sponsors and volunteers that stood in freezing rain to cook turkeys giving back to others in need. It’s a wonderful feeling.”
Since the event launched in 2006, the Tracy Lawrence “Mission Possible” Turkey Fry has brought in close to 7,000 turkeys and provided more than 46,000 meals to help the Nashville Rescue Mission feed the homeless in Middle Tennessee.

Winners Honored At No Shave November's Beard Bash

Winners of No Shave November‘s fundraising efforts were announced during the 3rd Annual Beard Bash Tuesday evening (Nov. 27) at Nashville’s Tin Roof.
Damon Moberly presented the award for Beard of the Year (for best looking beard) to Taylor Childress of Team Curb. Kevin Herring and Chris Palmer presented the Flock of Beards honor (to the team with the most participants) to Hairy and the Hendersons, which boasted 61 members.
The Most Valuable Beard award was given to the individual who does the most for No Shave November; Royce Risser presented the honor to Lunchbox of Team Big 98/Bobby Bones Show.
Meanwhile, the Scraggle Rock honor, spotlighting the worst beard, was given to Jason Allen of KRWQ in Medford, Ore., by Bob Reeves.
The Old Gray Beard honor was presented to Craig Campbell by RJ Curtis. The Mane Man: Ladies Choice Award was given to Glenn Noblit (of Blaster Record’s Team Inglorious Bastards). Stykman of Team US 101 was awarded the Best Social Media Advocate honor by Cowboy Kyle, Stykman and Gator.
Lady Antebellum’s Dave Haywood (of Team Lady Antebellum) was awarded the Best Beard Commercial honor for best media placement; Haywood mentioned No Shave November for St. Jude during an appearance on The Today Show. Haywood was presented the honor by Tyler Reese.
Scheduled performers of the event included Steve Wariner, Craig Campbell, Terri Clark, James Otto, Cowboy Troy, Anthony Smith and Austin Webb, along with ’90s Country cover band The Old 96ers.
The overall No Shave November campaign has been so successful thus far that the goal has been increased to $200,000. Donations are still being accepted through the end of November.

Toby Keith's OK Kids Korral Opens In Oklahoma

Toby Keith, along with the Toby Keith Foundation board and advisory council members, as well as several hundred invited guests, celebrated the grand opening of his OK Kids Korral earlier this week (Nov. 21).
Among the speakers helping open the cost-free home for children with cancer were Joey Root, President of First Liberty Bank and advisory council member; Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett; Dr. Terrance Stull, Chairman of Pediatrics at OU Health Sciences Center; and Tim and Elijah Fowler, donor and pediatric cancer survivor.
“OK Kids Korral is like Ritz Carlton meets Disney World and I couldn’t be more excited to open the doors to children with cancer,” said Keith.
The design and building team consisted of Manhattan Construction and Crafton Tull while Rees and Associates helped with the interior furnishings. The 25,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art Korral has 16 rooms with 12 overnight suites and four daytime suites, a neutropenic wing for children with weakened immune systems, a gourmet kitchen, an Oklahoma Route 66 indoor play room, an outdoor playground, game room, a family resource room, laundry room, theater and a reflection room. Tritt To Host First Nashville Concerts Since 2002

Travis Tritt will return to Nashville to host two acoustic concerts, Travis Tritt & Friends, at the historic Franklin Theatre on Jan. 13 and 14.  The appearance is Tritt’s first Nashville concert since 2002 and his first ever, all-acoustic performance in Music City.

James Otto and Marty Stuart will join Tritt on the bill for these shows, with more performers to be announced in the coming weeks. The two shows will showcase Tritt performing some of his biggest hits in an intimate setting punctuated by personal stories and anecdotes about his life and influences. Those purchasing tickets to the show will also receive an autographed copy of Tritt’s current album, The Calm After…and a commemorative laminate.
Tickets to the theater shows start at $100 and will go on sale today at franklintheatre.com.

shotgun wedding11111YEP Nashville has signed on to help Room In The Inn host its first-ever “Shotgun Wedding”-themed benefit concert to help raise awareness for the homeless community in Nashville. Bluegrass band The Westbound Rangers will headline the event, which will also feature roots band Rosewater.
Audience members are encouraged to dress in their “best vintage or wedding attire” and to bring a “wedding gift” in the form of an item for the homeless.

Country-themed content will celebrate the Grand Ole Opry’s inaugural broadcast, which occurred on Nov. 28, 1925. Social media posts with the hashtag #CountryDefined will begin Thursday, Nov. 28, while Country music terminology will be featured on Dictionary.com’s homepage beginning Monday, Dec. 2.
The homepage and social media will reveal the origins behind words such as “dobro” and “bluegrass.” “Did You Know?” trivia will be shared about various hit songs and Country artists.
