Billy Strings, Shawn Camp, More Appear On New Stanley Brothers Tribute Album

November 4, 2026/by Lorie Hollabaugh

Compass Records is releasing an upcoming new Stanley Brothers tribute album, Where the Soul Never Dies, this Friday (Nov. 6.)

The album includes some stellar collaborations on songs from the bluegrass pioneers, including Billy Strings and Drew Emmitt on “If I Lose;” Jamey Johnson and Shawn Camp on “Rank Strangers to Me;” Dolly Parton and The First Ladies of Bluegrass (Alison Brown, Becky Buller, Sierra Hull, Missy Raines, Molly Tuttle) on “Bound to Ride;” Steve Martin and Ed Helms with Alison Brown on “Pardon Me, Stranger;” and Willie Nelson and Sierra Ferrell on “I’ll Fly Away,” among others.

Several of the album tracks were performed during the Stanley Brothers induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Oct. 18 at the Medallion Ceremony, where Strings honored the duo with “How Mountain Girls Can Love,” the First Ladies of Bluegrass performed “Bound to Ride,” and more.

Inducted into the Veterans Era Artist category, The Stanley Brothers Ralph and Carter Stanley pioneered the sound of modern day Bluegrass, taking inspiration from the Monroe Brothers, the Grand Ole Opry and the Carter Family. Carter, the main vocalist, wrote many bluegrass standards including “The White Dove” and “The Lonesome River,” while Ralph provided harmonies and top-tier banjo playing. Following Carter’s death in 1966, Ralph kept their band, the Clinch Mountain Boys, going for another 50 years.
