The Countrypolitan Hotel & Carter Vintage Guitars Unveil Songwriting Competition
The Countrypolitan Hotel and Carter Vintage Guitars have teamed to launch “Songs from the Countrypolitan,” a songwriting competition for aspiring artists.
The competition will help tell a story inspired by the unique history of the building that houses the Countrypolitan. Located at the corner of Printer’s Alley and Union Street, The Countrypolitan recently completed a $10 million renovation, and the hotel design is inspired by the “Nashville Sound” and “Countrypolitan” eras of the 1960s and 70s in country. Rooted in Nashville’s deep history of music, the building has stories in its walls, and applicants are asked to take inspiration from the history and spirit of the hotel while penning their songs, with the connection to the theme being considered in the judging round.
Judges for the competition will be musicians Nikki Lane and Jonathan Terrell, and the winner will be announced on Aug. 30. The winner will have the opportunity to professionally record their song in a demo session at Carter Vintage Guitars, and will also be invited to perform their song live at the Countrypolitan’s Armadillo Wednesdays Showcase during AmericanaFest, among a few other perks.
“Our building is rooted in the Nashville spirit, full of history and stories,” says Bill Bacelieri, General Manager of The Countrypolitan. “The energy that defines the Countrypolitan has inspired artists and travelers alike, and we can’t wait to see who it inspires next through this contest. The Countrypolitan isn’t just a hotel–it creates a connection to a place that represents the unconventional spirit of Nashville, a city built on stories, songs and a little bit of outlaw charm.”
“At Carter Vintage Guitars, we’re passionate about supporting the next generation of musicians. Partnering with The Countrypolitan gives us a powerful opportunity to help emerging artists record and share their music,” says Ben Montague, Founder and CEO of TNAG Global, which acquired Carter Vintage Guitars in 2022. “All of our iconic demos and artist sessions are filmed and recorded in our High-End Acoustic Room—home to some of the rarest and most historic instruments in the world. The winner will have the chance to perform in the very same space where some of the most prolific players on the planet have played. With its striking, recognizable backdrop and unparalleled vibe, it’s a truly inspiring environment where artists can bring their vision to life.”
“Songs from the Countrypolitan” is open to songwriters 18 and older, and submissions must be entirely original compositions, with all artists credited, and are currently being accepted here. Submissions are now open, and artists have until Aug. 15 to submit their song.
