Miranda Lambert surprised fans with a special preview of songs from her upcoming album, Postcards from Texas, at the BBQ joint/live music venue Stubb’s Austin on Friday night (Aug. 23).
The line wound around the block and reached capacity before the box office opened at noon for the surprise show. Fans were then treated to lead single “Wranglers” as well as tracks “Dammit Randy,” “Alimony” and “No Man’s Land.” They also got an early preview of several other tunes from the project including “Bitch On The Sauce (Just Drunk),” “Looking Back On Luckenbach,” “Armadillo” and “Wildfire.” Lambert also surprised the crowd by inviting fellow Texans and frequent collaborators Jack Ingram and Jon Randall, who co-produced the album alongside her, onstage to perform a few songs from their acoustic album, The Marfa Tapes, including fan-favorite hit “Tequila Does.”
The event served as a full circle moment for the entertainer, as it almost marked exactly 20 years to the day since Lambert played her very first label showcase at Stubb’s on Aug. 28, 2004.
“I have a brand new album, and I have the same fire that I had 20 years ago at that show,” she reflected. “I love a honky-tonk. It’s how I grew up. It’s in my DNA.”
