AFM Local 257 To Host Tribute Concert To Iconic Members
As a fundraiser for its Funeral Benefit Fund (FBF), the Nashville Musicians Association, AFM Local 257 will pay tribute to longtime members Loretta Lynn, Jimmy Buffett and Jesse McReynolds tomorrow (Oct. 17) at 3rd & Lindsley.
As part of the annual “For Those We Lost” series that honors Local 257 members who have passed in the last year, Lynn, Buffett and McReynolds will be celebrated with many special performances. Mac McAnally and members of the Coral Reefer Band will perform, as well as Lynn’s daughters, Larry Cordle and bluegrass legend Sam Bush, along with the McCrary Sisters and several surprise guests.
“Local 257 is home to many iconic musicians, but also to many unsung musicians who play on your favorite records, or perform behind your favorite artist. You may never know their names, but they have helped create the soundtrack to your life. The FBF is one way we give back,” says AFM Local 257 President Dave Pomeroy.
“Our fund was established over one hundred years ago as a way to assist the families of Local 257 members pay final costs. Today our local has one of the few remaining funeral benefit fund in the AFM. It’s so important, and has been of vital importance to families over the decades. The COVID-19 crisis created a real challenge to our fund, but we are dedicated to making sure it is still around for decades to come.”
Tickets to the concert are available at 3rdandlindsley.com. It will also be livestreamed on volume.com.
