Grand Ole Opry To Celebrate Dolly Parton’s 77th Birthday With Special Program
The Grand Ole Opry will celebrate Dolly Parton‘s 77th birthday, which falls on Jan. 19, during their “Opry at the Ryman” run with two special shows at the Ryman Auditorium on Jan. 21. The Opry will return to the renowned music venue this month for a special one-month run before heading back to the Grand Ole Opry House in February.
In theme with the celebration of 77, Parton’s favorite number, the shows will spotlight hits from her 1977 album Here You Come Again, her first Platinum project. Those slated to perform include Chapel Hart, The Fairfield Four, Caitlyn Smith, Marty Stuart and Chris Young. Five dollars from every ticket sold to both of the shows will be donated in Parton’s honor to the Opry Trust Fund, which assists members of the country music community in need.
“We love an Opry party and everyone around the world loves Dolly!” says Opry Executive Producer Dan Rogers. “Though Dolly herself can’t be with us this year due to her feature film schedule, I think we can all agree Dolly deserves to be celebrated this year and ever year. We’re going to have some fun Dolly additions to the great schedule of shows lined up for our January run downtown at the Ryman.”
The celebration will also consist of 77 hours of giveaways on the Opry’s social media platforms, as well as photo ops with a Parton impersonator on the Ryman Plaza. Birthday cupcakes made from Parton’s Duncan Hines cake mix will be given to Opry House and Ryman tour guests on her birthday, Jan. 19 (while supplies last), and a giant birthday card will be on display Jan. 19 – 21 at the Ryman for fans to sign.
