Sam Hunt, Luke Combs, Ashley McBryde Among Top CMT Awards Nominees
CMT has announced the nominations for the upcoming 2020 CMT Awards with Dan + Shay, Luke Combs, Sam Hunt, Thomas Rhett, Ashley McBryde, and Kelsea Ballerini all competing for the most accolades of the evening, with three nominations each spanning categories including “Video of the Year,” “Female Video of the Year” and “Male Video of the Year.”
Other multiple nominees for the awards, which will air Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET on CMT with a six-network simulcast across MTV, MTV2, Logo, Paramount Network, Pop TV and TV Land, include Blanco Brown, Carrie Underwood, Gabby Barrett, Kane Brown, Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert, Old Dominion and The Chicks, who return with their first CMT nomination since 2007. The worlds of pop and dance/electronic also received CMT Award nods this year with Halsey, Marshmello and Gwen Stefani receiving first-ever nominations.
The 2020 CMT Music Awards will also shine a spotlight on a new generation of country stars this year with all six “Breakthrough Video of the Year” nominees Blanco Brown, Caylee Hammack, Gabby Barrett, Ingrid Andress, Riley Green and Travis Denning all receiving first-time nominations. Super group The Highwomen and the legendary Tanya Tucker are also receiving their first CMT awards nods.
This year’s show will celebrate the genre’s biggest stars through outdoor performances in and around Music City, and in a first for the show, select nominations were revealed on Instagram Reels. The announcement of “Video of the Year,” Female Video of the Year,” “Male Video of the Year,” and “Breakthrough Video of the Year” categories can be viewed here. Each winner is selected by the fans, with voting open now at vote.cmt.com until 11 a.m. CT on Monday, October 12.
