Brad Paisley To Lead ABC Special Featuring Carrie Underwood, Jonas Brothers, Tim McGraw

Brad Paisley will host and executive produce a one-hour primetime special Brad Paisley Thinks He’s Special on ABC later this season, from Sony Pictures Television.

The special will be taped at Nashville’s War Memorial Auditorium, and will feature several of Paisley’s friends including Jonas Brothers, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Hootie & The Blowfish, Kelsea Ballerini, ABC’s The Bachelor host Chris Harrison, NFL legend Peyton Manning and more.

Paisley, Jane Mun, RAC Clark, Bill Simmons and Kendal Marcy will serve as executive producers.

“Wait, I thought it was called the ‘Brad Paisley Special.’ Who added the ‘Thinks He’s’? Oh well, I’m still psyched,” said host and executive producer Paisley.

Lady A Dives Back In With ‘Ocean’ Set For November

Lady Antebellum has revealed some details on their upcoming new album Ocean, set for release Nov. 15 on BMLG Records. The project marks a new beginning for the multi-Platinum trio that brings them back to their roots, showcasing their familiar harmonies and individual instruments on the 13-track project.

Lady A penned many of the tracks on the album along with writers including Corey Crowder, Sarah Buxton, Ryan Hurd, Hillary Lindsey, Tenille Townes, Laura Veltz, and more. Ocean is available now for pre-order at all digital retailers, and fans pre-ordering will immediately receive a download of the title track along with previously released songs “Pictures” and their Top 15 single “What If I Never Get Over You.”

“There’s this theme of returning to the core of who we are—as writers, vocalists and people—that came out in each of these songs,” Dave Haywood explains. “Our time in the studio with Dann had an excitement that felt like we were making our first album all over again.”

Among the tracks on the new album are “You Can Do You,” a swaying live-and-let-live anthem inspired by the hustle of Nashville’s crowded streets, “Boots,” a heartland rocker with Celtic fiddles, the swirling “The Thing That Wrecks You,” featuring Little Big Town on backing vocals, “Be Patient with My Love,” which Kelley co-wrote as a beautiful ode to commitment, and the title track featuring Hillary Scott‘s bare vocal.

“It’s such a cinematic and theatrical melody with a message that became the cornerstone of this record for us,” said Scott about the title track. “Ocean is all of the things that we think and feel when we hear the word. This album is immersed in life stories about barely keeping your head above water all the way to those times that make you feel like everything is smooth sailing.”

Miranda Lambert Sets The Wildcard Tour Dates For 2020

Though Miranda Lambert is currently burning up the roads with her fellow female artists on the Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour, she has already announced her touring plans for The Wildcard Tour, starting in 2020.

The tour, which launches Jan. 16 in Tupelo, Mississippi, will feature 27 shows in the U.S. and Canada, including a stop at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Jan. 24.

Her openers will include Cody Johnson and LANCO for the majority of the run, while Randy Rogers Band and Parker McCollum will open shows in Kansas City, Tulsa and Dallas.

“The essence of a wildcard is always having something up your sleeve, in whatever capacity that means to you,” Lambert says. “It is universal. Which is why I’m excited to kick off this tour with an incredible group of talented artists. We’re going to have a blast!”

This tour will see the return of Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation campaign, Fill the Little Red Wagon presented by Tractor Supply Company. Fans are encouraged to help shelter pets in each tour city by donating dog food, treats, supplies and cash at each venue’s entrance prior to the show. Supporters who complete the sign-up form at the donation point will also be entered to win a meet & greet with Lambert.

VINCE GILL/Nothin’ Like A Guy Clark Song

– Over a rippling guitar track, he quotes Guy’s song titles, even sounding a little like his hero as he sing-speaks the verses. The choruses drive home the homage eloquently. On the last verse, he asks, “What do you do when your heroes die?” and answers again in Guy’s “voice.” Vince’s new Okie CD also includes “A World Without Haggard,” which is another elegy gem that’s well worth your attention.

Josh Turner Postpones Tour Dates Following Fatal Bus Crash

A tour bus carrying members of Josh Turner‘s road crew crashed Wednesday evening (Sept. 18) near Shandon, California, leaving one dead and seven passengers injured. The California Highway Patrol has identified the deceased as David Turner, 64, of Oxford, Mississippi. The Daily Journal reports that David is unrelated to Josh. David has been part of the country star’s road crew for more than a decade.

According to the the San Luis Obispo County Fire Department, Turner and his band members were not aboard the bus, which crashed off of Highway 46 as it was leaving a concert in Paso Robles, California.

All of Turner’s remaining shows for September are being rescheduled for a later date.

“Josh Turner and his road family have suffered a devastating loss,” a rep for Turner tells MusicRow Magazine. “Please keep the crew, band and Josh in your thoughts and prayers.”

LOCASH Hits Road For One Big Country Tour

LOCASH is kicking off their One Big Country Tour tomorrow night in Michigan. The tour visits 15 cities including Foxborough, MA, Columbus, OH and Minneapolis MN through December 14. They will be joined on select dates by country newcomer, Drew Baldridge, with additional support acts yet to be announced.

Additionally, the duo has released a video for their latest single, “One Big Country Song,” which will make its world premiere across CMT outlets on Sept. 24 before they join The Highway’s Music Row Happy Hour on Sirius XM with Buzz Brainard on September 27.

“Our goal for the video was to somewhat extend the sing-along moment that this song creates in our live show and capture the feeling of bringing people from every walk of life together to enjoy a moment,” said Preston Brust of LOCASH. “TK McKamy, who directed the video, had the know-how and the excitement to bring it all together and drive it home. He’s the man – we’re so proud of the end result.”

UTA Nashville To Move Headquarters

United Talent Agency (UTA) has inked a long-term lease for a new Nashville headquarters, to be located in a historic, three-story building at 225 Polk Ave. The Nashville team intends to move to the new location in the first quarter of 2020, following construction.

The new UTA space, located at the original site of the Carnegie Library, will feature a cafe lounge, a wellness room, outdoor terraces and views of Nashville’s state capitol, as well as a state-of-the-art performance space. Plans for the new space will incorporate some library memorabilia into the design, including an old book drop on the parking level of the property. Hastings Architecture are the architects on the project.

UTA’s Nashville office opened in 2012, and has grown to nearly 20 times its original size, and has promoted 10 employees in the past two years. The group represents touring headliners including Toby Keith, Clint Black, Trace Adkins, Craig Morgan and Clay Walker and has developed the careers of a diverse roster of clients including Blanco Brown, High Valley, Jimmie Allen, Matt Stell, King Calaway and Logan Mize.

“Nashville is a powerful creative hub, built on storytelling and compelling live entertainment,” said UTA CEO Jeremy Zimmer. “We are excited for our new space to serve as a great resource for the creative community and are committed to building our presence in Music City.”

Over the past year, UTA has invested in sports agency Klutch Sports Group, acquired influencer firm Digital Brand Architects, launched Civic Center Media to provide artists with more creative control and greater financial ownership of content, and secured investments in private equity firms PSP Investments and Investcorp.

UTA’s global music group represents a diverse roster of acclaimed artists which include Post Malone, The Jonas Brothers, Guns N’ Roses, YG, Young Thug, Pitbull, Common, The Spice Girls, Bring Me The Horizon, Muse, G-Eazy, Bush, DJ Khaled, Paramore, 21 Savage, Kaskade, Ms. Lauryn Hill, X Ambassadors Craig David, UB40, and Christine and the Queens, among others. The team has also played an integral role in developing up-and-coming artists such as Tierra Whack, DaniLeigh, Dominic Fike, SCARYPOOLPARTY, Tyla Yaweh, Jade Novah, Social House, Polo & Pan, SAINt JHN, The Aces, DesRocs and Marc Rebillet.

Travis Wolfe Joins WME

Travis Wolfe has joined WME as an agent in Nashville. In his role, he will focus on booking the agency’s country and comedy clients for private and corporate events.  

Wolfe most recently worked at APA, where he served as Vice President, overseeing the agency’s music and comedy rosters for corporate and special events. Prior to APA, Wolfe worked as an agent in Paradigm’s Corporate & Special Events department. During his tenure at the agency, he was awarded 2012 Emerging Talent Agent of the Year by the International Entertainment Buyers Association (IEBA).

Wolfe initially launched his career working in artist management for country artist Neal McCoy, in addition to owning a small production company specializing in college and festival events.

New Bob Dylan Bootleg Series Release To Feature Johnny Cash, Earl Scruggs Sessions

A new boxed set collection of 47 previously unreleased Bob Dylan recordings, featuring collaborations with Johnny Cash, will be released Nov. 1 via Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings.

Titled Bob Dylan (Featuring Johnny Cash) – Travelin’ Thru, 1967 – 1969: The Bootleg Series Vol. 15, the series’ latest installment revisits Dylan’s pivotal trips to Nashville from 1967-1969, collecting previously unreleased recordings, in addition to sessions with Cash, that yielded albums including John Wesley Harding, Nashville Skyline and Self Portrait.

Disc One includes audio from Dylan’s recording sessions at Columbia’s Studio A in Nashville, including alternate versions of compositions written for John Wesley Harding (Oct. 17 and Nov. 6, 1967) and Nashville Skyline (Feb. 13-14, 1969), including “All Along The Watchtower” and “Lay Lady Lay.” The set also introduces a new song, “Western Road.”

Discs Two and Three of Travelin’ Thru include Dylan’s collaborations with Cash, including the Columbia Studio A sessions and on-stage performances at the Ryman Auditorium (May 1, 1969) for the recording of the premiere episode of The Johnny Cash Show, which originally broadcast June 7, 1969 on ABC. Disc Three concludes the set with tracks Dylan recorded with bluegrass legend Earl Scruggs on May 17, 1970 for the PBS television special “Earl Scruggs: His Family and Friends,” which originally aired in January 1971.

The set is available in 3CD and 3LP physical configurations and digital equivalent, and follows the 14-CD release The Rolling Thunder Review: The 1975 Performances.
