Committee Seeks To Block New SESAC Rates
The Radio Music License Committee has filed paperwork with a request to prevent performing rights organization SESAC from bringing about new royalty rates, reports RAIN. SESAC is expected to reveal a five-year radio industry licensing rate plan; the Radio Music License Committee filed an injunction recently to delay the rate increase until after the lawsuit has been resolved. The RMLC represents radio stations’ rights to utilize music within their terrestrial broadcasts and digital streaming.
In 2012, the RMLC filed an anti-trust complaint in federal court against SESAC. New radio licensing rates were established in May 2012.
