Morgan Wade‘sdebut single “Wilder Days” has been certified Gold. Wade was surprised with the news at Dave & Buster’s last week. Executives and staff from Sony Music Nashville and WME, plus members of Wade’s band and road team, joined her at the celebration ahead of her debut performance at Bonnaroo.
Wade recently announced her new album Psychopath will be released Aug. 25.

Jim Mayo Receives Doctor Of Business Admin Degree From Trevecca

Veteran tour manager Jim Mayo (Josh Turner, Jo Dee Messina, Joe Nichols, John Michael Montgomery) has been awarded a Doctor of Business Administration degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville.
While recovering from serious injuries sustained in the Josh Turner crew bus crash in September 2019, Mayo continued his studies in between physical therapy sessions needed for him to relearn to walk and perform basic functions.
“All of the credit for my recovery and this degree goes to my lovely wife Catherine Mayo and daughters Lauren, Megan, and Adrianne. I will never be back to normal, but I continue to heal and recover,” he shares.
Randall Fowler Inks With Reviver Entertainment & Clay Myers

Randall Fowler has signed an exclusive publishing and recording agreement with Reviver Entertainment in partnership with Nashville industry veteran Clay Myers. Reviver Records recently released Fowler’s first song on the label, “Other Side Of A Heartbreak,” which he co-wrote with songwriter Clay Mills.

CMT Reveals Lineup For ‘Next Women Of Country’ Showcase

Co-hosted by Lindsay Ell (NWOC Class of 2014) and CMT’s Leslie Fram, “Next Women of Country, presented by Change The Conversation” will feature performances in the round from “CMT Next Women of Country” members spanning the classes of 2020-2023, including Georgia Webster (2023), Kasey Tyndall (2023), MacKenzie Porter (2021), MaRynn Taylor (2023), Megan Moroney (2023), O.N.E The Duo (2023), Priscilla Block (2021) and Tiera Kennedy (2020).
The show continues the 10th anniversary celebration of CMT’s storied franchise and its newest and largest class to-date, and tickets are on sale today at citywinery.com. The upcoming showcase marks the third installment of the series this year, following CMT’s January 2023 event where 16 new artists were named to the “CMT Next Women of Country” franchise. Additional showcases will continue at City Winery Nashville throughout the year.
CMT first launched its “Next Women of Country” campaign in 2013 as a meaningful effort to support developing female talent, both signed and unsigned, in a male-dominated format. The initiative has grown significantly since its inception, showcasing emerging female artists across all CMT screens, including CMT and CMT Music, various digital series, performance showcases and seven tours anchored by acts including Jennifer Nettles, Martina McBride, Sara Evans, Tanya Tucker and Maddie & Tae. As of January 2023, a total of 111 female artists have been inducted into the program, with members earning more than 50 major awards, including nine Grammy Awards.
Underscore Works Hires Jamie Ernst & Jordin Wentworth

Underscore Works has added two team members to its Nashville-based office. Jamie Ernst has come on board as Artist Manager / Director of Marketing and Jordin Wentworth as Associate Manager.
Ernst joins Underscore Works from Average Joes Entertainment, where she held various positions over the past 13 years, including day-to-day management responsibilities for Colt Ford, Josh Gracin, Brantley Gilbert and others, as well as marketing efforts for the Average Joes’ label roster. She is a Nashville native and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Ernst brings her long-time client Sister Hazel to Underscore Works’ roster, which also includes Priscilla Block, Dalton Dover, Warren Zeiders, Logan Mize and Dipper.
Wentworth, a New York native, joins the company after holding prior positions as an Office Manager for attorney Bruce Phillips and Project Manager at Clearbox Rights, where she primarily worked with the catalog of music publisher Mojo Music and Media. She is a graduate of the University at Buffalo.

Rising country artist Mackenzie Carpenter graced the Grand Ole Opry stage for the first time on Tuesday night (June 20).
The Hull, Georgia native made the milestone evening a family affair as she brought her brothers, fellow songwriter and guitar player Micah and Maclean—who taught her how to play guitar, to debut alongside her. She sang her career kickstarter “Can’t Nobody” and hit “Huntin’ Season,” earning her a standing ovation.

Carpenter had visited the iconic venue plenty and always dreamed of taking the stage one day. One of those visits included an unexpected meeting with Little Big Town who surprised her with an invite to play.

“I’m nervous, excited and have more energy than I know what to do with right now,” she said prior to performing. “This is it. This is a moment I’ll be telling my grandkids about some day. It means the world that I get to share it with my brothers and have all my people here with me tonight. I need to take a few deep breaths and really soak it all in—it’s not every day a girl from my neck of the woods gets to live out such a big dream.”
As friends and family from her hometown beamed with pride in the crowd, Carpenter honored her roots—wearing her late grandmother’s earrings and a replica of her late grandfather’s lucky horseshoe ring.
“I’ve been dreaming of this moment for so long, I’ve got to say it out loud… I’m Mackenzie Carpenter and this is my Grand Ole Opry debut!” she exclaimed from the stage.

CAA Promotes Karen Schillinger & Five Others To Agent

CAA has promoted Nashville-based Karen Schillinger to Agent in the Music Touring department. The agency has also elevated five others within various departments.
Schillinger joined CAA as an assistant in 2017 and was promoted to Booking Professional in 2022. She joined the Elevate program, the agency’s next-generation training and practical development curriculum, in 2023. Schillinger graduated from Cornell University, where she received a degree in policy analysis and management.
Additionally, Yasi Agahnia has been promoted to Agent in the Music Touring area’s Private Events division and Abe Coelho has been promoted to Agent in the Media Finance department in CAA’s Los Angeles office. Logan Binstock has been elevated to Agent as well. Erik Toral has also been promoted in the Los Angeles office to Agent and Executive in Global Client Strategy along with Ryan Quint, who has risen to Agent in the Comedy Touring department.
Alabama’s June Jam Makes Triumphant Return To Fort Payne

The resurrection of Alabama‘s iconic June Jam this year was a big success, drawing nearly 11,000 fans to their hometown of Fort Payne, Alabama on June 3.
The return of the sold out festival, last held in 1997, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for future grants for those in need of disaster relief. Collectively through the years, June Jam has raised over 20 million dollars for worthy causes.

Held at the VFW Fairgrounds, this year’s jam featured performances by Alabama, Jamey Johnson, Jake Owen, The Oak Ridge Boys, The Frontmen (Richie McDonald, formerly of Lonestar; Tim Rushlow, formerly of Little Texas; Larry Stewart of Restless Heart), Chapel Hart, The Isaacs, Worth The Wait, Exile, Mark Wills, Neal McCoy, Home Free, Janie Fricke, The Malpass Brothers, Dee Jay Silver and a special appearance by Randy Travis.
“It was great to see the local community excited about the Jam again,” says Alabama’s Teddy Gentry. “It was a great event to bring back, once again, to help a few charities as well.”
The performance portion of June Jam was preceded by a public memorial service for the late Jeff Cook, who passed away last November following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s.
“I think Jeff would have been proud of having another Jam,” explains Gentry. “His celebration of life to kick things off was a wonderful time to reflect on all the good times we have shared over the years. We miss you.”
June Jam was created by Alabama and has brought some of the biggest names in country together for charity. The first June Jam benefit concert took place in 1982 and it continued annually for 16 years, making it one of the biggest country events in the nation. Performers in previous years include Garth Brooks, Charlie Daniels, Alan Jackson, The Judds, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Wayne Newton, Dolly Parton, Trisha Yearwood, Charley Pride, Willie Nelson and many more.

Warner Chappell Partners With Space Colonel Publishing, Signs Beau Bedford

Nashville songwriter Emily Shackelton, whose credits include “What He Didn’t Do” and “Every Little Thing,” spoke on behalf of Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) today (June 21) in front of the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet.
Shackelton is also a member of NSAI’s Board of Directors. At the hearing, she addressed Chairman Darrell Edward Issa and Henry C. “Hank” Johnson. Read her full statement below.
SongwritingWith:Soldiers To Host Songwriters Round At 3rd & Lindsley
/by Lorie HollabaughNonprofit SongwritingWith:Soldiers will host a writers’ round Wednesday, June 28 at 3rd & Lindsley featuring hit songwriters Danny Myrick, Gary Nicholson, Gary Burr and Jay Clementi.
Collectively, the writers have had cuts by Jason Aldean Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Kelly Clarkson, Fleetwood Mac, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Ringo Starr and more. They will be performing some hits along with songs they’ve written with veterans at retreats across the country at SongwritingWith:Soldiers events. The program is designed to help soldiers tell their story, and based on a study by Harvard, even helps with PTSD and depression.
All ticket sales will go to support the nonprofit’s transformative work. Since its founding in 2012, SW:S has served more than 2,000 combat veterans through retreats and partnership programs, and more than 1,000 songs have been written. In 2023 alone, the organization will write with more than 1,000 veterans.
