Kenny Chesney Adds Three Soccer Stadiums To ‘Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour’

Kenny Chesney is adding three soccer stadiums to his “Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour” in Cincinnati, Columbus and Salt Lake City.

Chesney’s soccer stadium shows include Cincinnati’s TQL Stadium on June 29, Salt Lake City’s America First Field on July 16 and Columbus, Ohio’s Historic Crew Stadium on Aug. 8. All three shows will feature special guests Megan Moroney and “When The Sun Goes Down” duet partner Uncle Kracker. Tickets will go on sale Dec. 8.

“In a lot of ways, soccer stadiums are the best of both worlds,” says Chesney. “You have the same kind of intimacy that you get in an amphitheater, but it’s big enough you have the ability to really hit the accelerator in terms of energy, music, connecting. It’s a relatively new thing for us to have soccer stadiums, but these are markets where I know there are people who aren’t getting tickets–and everyone in No Shoes Nation knows how I feel about no citizen of our crew left behind.”

The “Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour” kicks off April 20 in Tampa. Additionally, Chesney’s latest single “Take Her Home,” which embraces taking the risks that make people’s lives sweeter, is currently making its way up the charts.

“What a year we’ve had everybody,” shared Ernest from the historic stage. “As a Nashville kid, there is no more sacred ground than standing on the Ryman Auditorium stage. I can’t ever thank everyone who has supported us over the past few years enough. This is an unbelievable feeling to play here tonight.”

On the first night, he was joined by Keith Urban for a cover of “Slow Dancing In A Burning Room” and Hardy for their co-written smash “More Than My Hometown,” recorded by Morgan Wallen. After surprising the crowd, Ernest was surprised himself as he was recognized backstage with a plaque presented by Big Loud CEO/Partner Seth England and team for amassing over one billion artist career streams.

Giving back to the city he was raised in during his hometown shows, Ernest also presented Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee with a check for $10,000 in partnership with MAPCO as part of GivingTuesday.

Jelly Roll also popped up for their co-written smash “Son Of A Sinner,” along with Charles Kelley, who joined for “Songs We Used To Sing,” and Dean Dillon, who came out for their collab “What Have I Got To Lose.” In addition, Ernest catered to impromptu requests from the audience, breaking into a version of “Comfortable When I’m Crazy,” putting his deep connection to his fans on full display.

Ryman To Host Special Mother’s Day Weekend With Amy Grant

Amy Grant will perform two back-to-back shows at the Ryman Auditorium on Mother’s Day weekend (May 10-11).

The May shows will mark Grant’s first solo performance at the Ryman in 25 years, and her first solo performances in Nashville in more than 15 years. The two-night event will feature different set lists each night, and tickets go on sale today (Dec. 1). In celebration of Mother’s Day weekend and women everywhere, a portion of every ticket will go to Thistle Farms. For more information, click here.

Preceding her spring shows, Grant and husband Vince Gill will kick off their “Christmas at the Ryman” residency on Dec. 13. The 12-concert run is scheduled for Dec. 13-14, 16-17, 19-20 and 22-23, and will once again feature matinee performances.

“Who doesn’t love the Ryman Auditorium? It’s the best place in the world to hear music and to perform,” says Grant. “Every year I look forward to Vince’s and my Christmas residency there, and this year is no exception. For so many artists and musicians, playing that stage is returning to the Mother Church of music and sharing a night with family. I’m thrilled to be headed back to the Ryman for the first time in 25 years to play two nights of the non-holiday music I’ve been making for the past 45 years. Over the two nights, I’ll cover as much of the old music as I can, and introduce a couple of new songs.”

Recently, Grant and her long-time friend and collaborator Michael W. Smith embarked on their “2023 Christmas Tour.” Joined by special guest Michael Tait of the Newsboys, Grant and Smith will co-headline nine holiday shows, including their first appearance together on New York City’s iconic Carnegie Hall stage on Dec. 5. She is also hosting this year’s CMA Country Christmas alongside Trisha Yearwood, which is set to air Dec. 14 on ABC.

“Sony is and will always be the team that helped launch this career and journey I am on, and I am thankful for that. Randy [Goodman] and team have been nothing but supportive of me and my sound, but with the very changing scope of music today, I want the undeniable ability to take my music in any direction possible and deliver it to my fans at a pace that suits me more as a touring artist.”

“Niko has such a great grasp of who he is as an artist and performer,” says Chris Kappy, Chief Navigation Officer, Make Wake Artists. “Niko’s fans are consuming music like crazy and want more and we feel the ability and flexibility to release music that might be outside the genre, would be easier to do as an independent artist. Society of Leaders in Development (SOLID) recently concluded its second-annual Scholarship Marketing Competition for music business students. Sponsored by the International Entertainment Buyers Association (IEBA), the competition’s top prize was awarded to the group that received the highest score on their marketing campaign presentation aligned with Cassadee Pope‘s upcoming album and brand transition.

As an added value to the students, each team not only left with prize money based on their team placement, but also received an industry resource guide curated by SOLID’s Ambassadorship committee, offering a comprehensive toolkit for career advancement including job-hunting strategies, resume building and cover letter-writing tips, recommended industry newsletters and more.

IEBA’s Executive Director Pam Matthews and Director of Operations Jason Conner provided insight on the presentations. Judges included Rio Van Risseghem (The Orchard), Amanda Quinton (Quinton Digital), Grace Hawkins (Quinton Digital), Lyndsey McFarlane (Quinton Digital) and Pope herself.

“I was incredibly impressed with the students’ presentations and truly believe they all will find meaningful positions within the music industry,” says Pope. “Nobody has their ear to the ground like these students, and that was made very clear by their innovative ideas and attention to detail. I will absolutely be using some of what they pitched during my album promo!”
