Music City Roots: Live From The Loveless Cafe will premiere its inaugural 13-week season of one-hour shows on Nashville Public Television on Friday, Sept. 13. The first airing will begin at 7 p.m. CT. The series will then air on several public television stations around the country, distributed by American Public Television.
According to musiccityroots.tumblr.com,WNET (New York), WGBH (Boston) and KLRU (Austin, Texas), along with stations in Los Angeles, Phoenix, Cincinnati and Washington, D.C., have also signed on to present the series.
Buddy Miller, Shawn Camp, Elizabeth Cook, 18 South, Bobby Bare, Humming House, Derek Hoke, Rod Picott, Kevin Gordon, Leon Russell, Honeyhoney, Langhorne Slim, Della Mae, The Delta Saints, Jon Byrd and Dugas are all slated to appear during the first season of the television series Music City Roots: Live From The Loveless Cafe, along with Jim Lauderdale as musical host.
Randy Travis Discharged From Baylor Heart Hospital

Randy Travis has been discharged from Baylor Heart in Plano, Texas, according to his publicist. The Country entertainer has been relocated to a physical therapy facility.
“Thanks to all the fans and friends for your continued prayers and support as Randy continues on the road to recovery,” says Travis’ fiancée Mary Davis.
The singer was admitted to the hospital earlier this month and treated for idiopathic cardiomyopathy.

Joe Putnam To Exit UMG Nashville

Veteran radio promoter Joe Putnam, who has been with UMG Nashville for 13 years, will exit the label this week. Putnam, based in Los Angeles, has handled West Coast radio promotions for Mercury Nashville. He was named to the role of vice president of National Promotion in 2010.

Kellie Pickler
Kellie Pickler will make a guest appearance on CMT’s first animated comedy series, Bounty Hunters, on Saturday (Aug. 3) at 10 p.m. ET. Bounty Hunters stars Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Larry the Cable Guy as they track down fugitives for their bounty hunting business. In the episode, Pickler portrays Daisy, a mysterious woman who makes Bill fall in love.

David Lowery, songwriter and guitarist for bands including Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker, will offer an artist’s perspective on various legislative issues. The conference will also feature interviews with Billy Bragg (led by Rob Reinhart of Acoustic Cafe), Rosanne Cash (interviewing with Bob Harris of BBC), Dr. John (with Nick Spitzer of NPR’s American Routes), as well as Delbert McClinton and Glen Clark (conducted by Jim Jusilli of the Wall Street Journal).

Radio Promotions Veteran Chuck Thagard Passes

Veteran radio promoter Chuck Thagard died this morning (July 31) at his home near Atlanta after an extended battle with multiple illnesses. Most recently, Thagard worked in music promotion at Quarterback Records.
Thagard was a part of the startup of BNA Records in 1991, starting as the Northeast Regional. In 1993, he was promoted to VP of Promotion, where he helped launch the career of Kenny Chesney, and oversaw radio careers of artists including John Anderson, Lonestar and Lorrie Morgan.
In 1999, Thagard joined Warner Nashville as Northeast Regional, working with Faith Hill, Trick Pony, and Blake Shelton among others. He joined Quarterback Records in April 2004.
A family-only private service is being planned in remembrance of Thagard.

The Civil Wars' Sophomore Album Streaming On iTunes
/by Michael_SmithThe Civil Wars’ self-titled sophomore album won’t be released until Tuesday, Aug. 6, but the entire album is available for streaming on the iTunes Store in Canada and the U.S., for the remainder of this week only. The Grammy award-winning band is already receiving praise for the The Civil Wars, which follows the 2011 release of their successful debut album Barton Hollow.
The Civil Wars recorded their new album in Nashville between August 2012 and January 2013. Charlie Peacock led the album’s production, and Rick Rubin produced the band’s performance for the song “I Had Me a Girl.” Peacock produced the song’s instrumentation and mix.

Alan Jackson To Perform at Nashville's Station Inn

Alan Jackson will perform at Nashville’s Station Inn on Aug. 27 at 8:30pm. The show will feature the players from Jackson’s upcoming The Bluegrass Album, set for release Sept. 24. Jackson wrote eight of the 14 songs on The Bluegrass Album, which will be released on ACR (Alan’s Country Records)/EMI Records Nashville and is produced by Keith Stegall and Jackson’s nephew, Adam Wright.
Tickets are $25.00 and may be reserved onsite and in person at the Station Inn beginning at 1 p.m. on Aug. 26 (the day before the show); tickets will be limited to four per purchaser, and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. People reserving tickets must be present at the Station Inn the night of the show when doors open at 7 p.m. – cash payment and a photo ID must be presented at that time, and all members of the ticket purchaser’s party must be present for admission.
